( it was strange to remember another life but after all that lilith had lived it was easy to just put it aside. except that the things that she'd done in this life-- whilst she could see the merit of her actions there was distaste to it. marrying an angel, convincing him to love her. the intimacy they'd shared.
she'd drunk on returning though that was just out of distraction, not drunk or memory removing. no matter what she did her memories would remain and that was by choice.
avoiding him was the plan. across each of these cities and knowing his particular energy it made it simpler, giving her several days of blissful ignorance. until today. she'd teleported across to de chima, an errand or two in mind but her had landed her awfully close to that angelic energy. she'd stayed on the spot, looking around her to see where he was, if he'd noticed her yet but she saw him before having the opportunity to leave, though he could have just tracked her anyway.
[This should be an alliance between us. He'd proposed in a rose garden. She'd accepted and he had felt...relief? Peace?
His flowers had been in a row - neatly groomed just like heaven. Plants and everything in a row in their home. Their home.
He remembered their wedding day, and his distaste at holding her hand. He remembered the first time she'd made him laugh. He'd felt surprised. The first time they'd had breakfast together. Then lunch. Then dinner.
Her words.
Her touches.
Her betrayal.
He should have expected nothing less from a filthy demon. There's a crack of lightning and he's there.
He's not dressed in his traditional suit however, or his ties or his rich clothing. Instead he's wearing a gray and periwinkle flannel shirt and a white undershirt and jeans with work boots. He doesn't want to feel fancy, fancy is falling.
Landing, lightning bursting from his fingers, he smiles nastily.]
( she doesn't have time to flee before he's there and the sheer power of his arrival almost freezes her in plsce. whilst her expression is neutral, not betraying anything that she feels lilith can't deny that a tiny part of her is afraid-- at least of his power, the crackle in the air )
Gabriel--
( her hands come up in a quick defense of herself, magical barrier between them to try and defend from his attack. she's not going to deny or deflect this simply get it over with )
We could-- finish what you began?
( and maybe poke him slightly, remind him that she knows just how close he was to falling )
( she'd argue that she doesn't have a master but there's two reasons that she doesn't -- he would actually listen and she doesn't give a shit what he thinks. lilith knows that this situation will end badly, there's one pissed off angel in front of her and even with the power she holds he was quicker to strike before, though perhaps she can also make it difficult for him )
You proved that you're no different from mortal men. Weak. Malleable.
( give him a nice smile and a little play between his legs and he'd done everything that she'd wanted him to. it had been very beneficial for her with very little effort )
You felt nothing that you didn't want. Need I remind you that you proposed.
( he'd been the one to start it all off. sure intimacy had never been on the agenda but he'd never refused her even that first time, had willingly allowed her touch )
You were eager to feel something. Because she doesn't respond.
( she was happy to allow herself to seem cold and cruel to him, to avoid discussing whatever her true feelings were. for him she had none but generally-- )
Did you really expect anything else? The love of a demon?
( and the fact that he still wants it to be true-- )
Or maybe part of you yearns for me again, that swift bliss.
Gabriel is quick. That is his strength. She made him quick and she made him to lead the hosts and no matter what he might feel-
This would severe it. He runs - bolting to the fountain and blessing it before he's back to her.
There's no hesitation.
One fountain of holy water - with very little water in it - trickling out of holes and rocks trying to be fancy. It's an art piece. There's very very little water in the fountain.
A fountain that's destroyed in a heartbeat when a bolt of lightning shatters it into pieces spraying holy water and rock in all directions.
( even though her hands had been up for the spell they raise higher in defense as the water flies at her. she doesn't have time to get any spell off, interrupted in her first cast and unable to pull up a barrier--
she doesn't scream as it hits her but heaven does it hurt, a pained, almost strangled sound coming from her as she tries to withhold her reaction, mix of high tolerance and refusal to show weakness.
but this is holy water and lilith doesn't need to look at it to know that its serious feeling the burn ripping at her-- she doesn't need to look to know that it's bad, the majority contained to the arm she'd thrown up with other splashes along her face and neck.
she stares at him, not really surprised at his actions but still-- shocked that he'd gone through with it considering he'd practically professed love to her. it's with a few more seconds watching him does lilith teleport away, not wanting to know what will happen next )
[Angels are not loving creatures towards each other. All they need is her love. Her grace. Her presence. And even if she does not respond she has always been there.
But the false...that false woman...
She held my hand. She's gone and the humans are looking at him, a few raising their phones. He stares at his hand and remembers her fingers in his.
Except that's not her. That's not Lilith, just like he wasn't that Gabriel - right? He wasn't there. He would have never. But still she held his hand, she had held him. Would he ever be held again.
It's not fair. It's not fair, I shouldn't know about that. I should never have known that. And what she said You want to be loved.
Did he love her? If he did he'd destroyed that.
His chest hurt and he wanted to cry.
A human approached, phone out, whispering before he snarled out-]
Tell, No One
[But people would find out right? Of course they would. He couldn't even find her while flying, while disappearing in a crack of lightning. He stalked in, looking for liquor, anything to dull the sudden pain of not having a hand to hold.]

Hi Honey.

Gabriel--

His power doesn't fluctuate but something dark crosses his features, something demonic. His eyes brighten with lightning and humans scatter.
All four of his wings extend. Still singed from their last encounter.
When he speaks however his voice is full of scorn...and hurt.]
I cared about you.
[His lip curls.]
I hope your master gives you a reward for that. You got an angel to care about a demon. Congratulations.

You proved that you're no different from mortal men. Weak. Malleable.
( give him a nice smile and a little play between his legs and he'd done everything that she'd wanted him to. it had been very beneficial for her with very little effort )
What good does your power do for you?
no subject
Is that weakness to you?
[His heart feels like it has tears in it.]
Is that. weakness?
[A second bolt lands a few feet away. He might seem more emotional despite the lack of emotional responses.
His malicious snarl goes severe.]
My power? Is Her power. And you won't trick me again. That was all you.
[falsehoods. but.]

Her power-- when she'd abandon you-- just for live.
( and even if he hadn't truly loved her he'd told her it enough whenever he came. it was enough to push him closer to that edge )
Perhaps you wanted it. The option I showed you readily took.
( her feelings may not have been real in return but everything he'd done he'd been clear of mind in making his own choices )
You wanted to be loved. Even by a demon.

[He stops and looks disgusted with himself. The humans around them are gone as his hands go up and glow with crackling energy.]
You made me feel affection. And care, and then taught me - about - about -
[Lightning lands behind her - at least three or four feet away at least.]
Don't think about moving. We're going to have this conversation.

[He looks hurt.]
I chose you because I needed help, because I thought you understood how lonely I was...
[His lip twists in a snarl.]
She still loves me.
[He's not going to give into her. Not this time.]
So you're just cold and cruel. I understand. I respect that. Fine. Lines are drawn.

I am the Archangel Gabriel who walked at her side in the beginning. I want nothing from you.
[He looks furious at that because she hit on something that he did not expect.
There's a fountain nearby - the water trickling slowly over cascading rocks. He glances at it, nonplussed, before looking at her.]
I have been neglectful in my duty. I should have destroyed you the moment I laid eyes on you.
[So I wouldn't be this stupid.]
...But. You got me.
[So I wouldn't understand you.]
...You deserve congratulations. You tempted an angel. Know that, before you die.
no subject
( and her hands are up now, starting working on conjuring something that will be very familiar to him )
That I can destroy you just as easily.
( she'd gotten hellfire off on him once and hopes the memory makes him doubly think his actions )
