It's the most wonderful time of the year! Well, mostly. In the wake of a near-apocalyptic event, the city of Jeopardy is in need. What started out as an idea to advertise Rikki Chadwick's burgeoning business, after a little more planning and nabbing some ideas from Kenzi's post, she and Rupert have reconfigured and rebranded their idea to focus less on her and more on the relief effort.


Characters will enter the venue after giving a small donation at the door and they will be greeted by a large room lit in blues, soft pinks, and purples. From the ceilings hang snowflakes made of glass. The centerpieces are also made of glass. Come to think of it, nearly all the decorations are made of glass. Except, that is, the mistletoe hanging from several of the rafters and archways. A buffet-style dinner will be served from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at which point, the buffet tables and seating tables will be cleared away to make room for the makeshift stage for the DJ and a gigantic dance floor.

Drinks will be flowing, music will be playing, and people will be bidding on silent auctions to win everything from one of the centerpieces to a date with their favorite imPort and everything in between. So, eat, drink, and be merry until you can't stay awake any longer. Why not? It's all for a good cause, after all.

"Are you that concerned about your physical appearance? Not to appear tired or weak?"

"No. But I'm thoughtful enough to want any advantage I can have in a fight. Including my opponents not knowing that I'm in a weakened state," David counter.

He's gotten too used to needing to fight.

"Are you expecting many fights like that?" There's some concern there.

Expecting? No... Not really.

"I've learned that optimism is fruitless."

"That's sad to hear. We have to have a bit of hope, don't we? Or else we just give up on everything." He replies thoughtfully.

His own version of optimism comes out in his sheer determination. He doesn't always expect the most positive results but he doesn't back down; always pushing that extra step and exploring in and outside the box.

“Some people learn to live with less hope and more practical goals.”

Though his friends and relationship had been helpful to him. But optimistic? Not encoded in his anymore.

"I hear you there," he agrees.

"Using your power to help solve cases that have been practically abandoned does seem like a hopeful and optimistic move though. It can't just be for my benefit. You'd be bringing resolution to others who have lived for too long in uncertainty. Or at least brought some justice to those that were lost."

Does it? To David it half feels like a way to keep himself from going insane over how frivolous the rest of his life is.

“Hope for them and hope for us are two different things.”

"True." David pauses a moment to fully study the other David for a moment. "We both want to help people, don't we? The amount of satisfaction or our own personal hopes don't really factor in as long as we do right by others... Make things how they should be. Put everything back in its place. Is that how you think of it or is that just me?"

“That’s how I think about it,” David admits with a soft sigh. But it hurt so much to think about it. “I just know that I can’t manage it most of the time.”

"So you put too much pressure on yourself?"

Constantly. That was how David lived. And it was going to wear him down.

“I just try and survive and help others.”

[detectivedwloki]

He knows that feeling too well himself - and he isn't going to try to talk David out of it or he'd just have to follow suit and not be hypocritical about the pressure he also puts on himself.

"Well, now you have some back-up."

Of course there was always backup. But this was a kind of one that he can deal with having. Someone smart that solves problems by thinking about them. Not a lot of those around.

“Thanks,” he offered along with his hand. “We will discuss a date for our lunch sometime soon, yes?”

Loki shook the offered hand firmly and nodded.

"Looking forward to it."
