Winter Gala

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Well, mostly. In the wake of a near-apocalyptic event, the city of Jeopardy is in need. What started out as an idea to advertise Rikki Chadwick's burgeoning business, after a little more planning and nabbing some ideas from Kenzi's post, she and Rupert have reconfigured and rebranded their idea to focus less on her and more on the relief effort.


Characters will enter the venue after giving a small donation at the door and they will be greeted by a large room lit in blues, soft pinks, and purples. From the ceilings hang snowflakes made of glass. The centerpieces are also made of glass. Come to think of it, nearly all the decorations are made of glass. Except, that is, the mistletoe hanging from several of the rafters and archways. A buffet-style dinner will be served from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at which point, the buffet tables and seating tables will be cleared away to make room for the makeshift stage for the DJ and a gigantic dance floor.

Drinks will be flowing, music will be playing, and people will be bidding on silent auctions to win everything from one of the centerpieces to a date with their favorite imPort and everything in between. So, eat, drink, and be merry until you can't stay awake any longer. Why not? It's all for a good cause, after all.

"Okay, okay." That seems to be a good enough answer. Though it does surprise her that she's managed to make such friends so soon after returning to this world.

"So, any plans already forming for our date?"

[reborningreen]

"I do have a few. What do you like more, Chicago, London, or Paris?"

Oliver is grinning, and being silly. He likes doing things in silly ways, and he already had planned on wining and dining whoever won him with a very nice evening. So he had set up a couple of ideas for if he won others, too.

[heartstings]

"Ooooh, Paris!" Her eyes light up, hands clapping together at the options. Her excitement is shortlived however as she remembers all the paperwork she had to do just to go to Thailand. Would a night in Paris really be worth all that?

She sighs, "That's a lot of paperwork though."

he grins at her and takes one of her hands.

"That's a good reason to have people. And if you went with me, then you would get to have them do your paperwork too." He nods.

"Most of the paperwork is already done. Just have to fill in names and get signatures and that sort of thing." He cocks an eyebrow.

"If you are willing?"

[heartstings]

"Does that include the paperwork for Unsettled?" She imagines he's quite thorough but she has to be sure.

"But I'm not going to say no to Paris." Cliche? Maybe. But it's not like Kenzi's had a chance to do a lot of travel so she has a list.

[reborningreen]

"Yes, it does. I am well aware of your declared status. And one of the nice things from running a company that gives away money and resources to the poor is that you attract very fierce lawyers. I can have that paperwork taken care of in no time."

Oliver shakes his head. "I'm not used to having this kind of money anymore and it is kind of mindblowing. I tried to reject a salary and the foundation board laughed at me."

And he nods. "I like Paris. I know a few very nice hole in the wall restaurants that are amazing, and of course, one cannot get away without seeing the Tower."

[heartstings]

"Must be nice being all rich and stuff." Her tone is teasing.

Kenzi hands clap together as she bats her lashes at him. "Oh please tell me shopping is also an option. Please please. Pretty please?" If she's going to Paris she has to get some shopping in.

[reborningreen]

Oliver snorts. Its always more trouble, but here, he can do good with it. And already is. And he is glad he is doing it, even if it is a pain in the ass.

At her question and that face, he laugh. "Shopping is an option, yes. As long as you promise to never make that face at me again." He teases her right back.

"Paris has some good shops, both on and off the grid."

[heartstings]

"What, this face?" She does it again. Though she can't keep it up for too long before she bursts into a fit of laughter.

Oliver laughs and waves his hands at her in mock terror. And in an almost flawless Dracvula voice speaks. "No, no, not the silly Kenzi face! My only weakness!"

He chuckles as he drops the accent. "That thing is a superpower all its own."

[heartstings]

She's laughing again, a genuine laugh. The whole night she's been putting up a front of being cheerful for the sake of the gala.

"I'm well aware. And you, mister, need to work on your accents."

[reborningreen]

And internally, Oliver marks a one down. Real smile achieved. Outside, he grins at her, and nods.

"Hey now. I happen to be very good at my accents." he waggles a finger at her, grinning still.

[heartstings]

"If you say so." Accents might be a bit of a hobby for Kenzi as they can really help sell a disguise.

"I look forward to Paris but right now I should probably see if I can track down my other dates."

[reborningreen]

"Of course. Go, have fun, and I will call you about the trip, okay?" he nodded to her, glancing around as he spoke. he had a few others to catch, here or there.

[heartstings]

"A'ight." She moves in real quick to play a kiss on his cheek before gathering up her skirt and hurrying off to find someone else to bother.
