It's the most wonderful time of the year! Well, mostly. In the wake of a near-apocalyptic event, the city of Jeopardy is in need. What started out as an idea to advertise Rikki Chadwick's burgeoning business, after a little more planning and nabbing some ideas from Kenzi's post, she and Rupert have reconfigured and rebranded their idea to focus less on her and more on the relief effort.


Characters will enter the venue after giving a small donation at the door and they will be greeted by a large room lit in blues, soft pinks, and purples. From the ceilings hang snowflakes made of glass. The centerpieces are also made of glass. Come to think of it, nearly all the decorations are made of glass. Except, that is, the mistletoe hanging from several of the rafters and archways. A buffet-style dinner will be served from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at which point, the buffet tables and seating tables will be cleared away to make room for the makeshift stage for the DJ and a gigantic dance floor.

Drinks will be flowing, music will be playing, and people will be bidding on silent auctions to win everything from one of the centerpieces to a date with their favorite imPort and everything in between. So, eat, drink, and be merry until you can't stay awake any longer. Why not? It's all for a good cause, after all.

[That gets a harsh laugh from her as she slams her empty glass onto the bar.]

No. Some of us are here because Lachesis decided this was the best place to send us when her sister devoured the previous world. The rest are here because the government has zero control over that 'porter of theirs and it brings in people indiscriminately.

There is no reason. It just is what it is.

[Eyebrows raise at her reaction.]

You sound very bitter.

What happened to making things happen if you want them badly enough...?

[heartstings]

[She lets out a little growl, teeth bared at him for a moment before she turns and orders another drink.]

Within reason.

[mysterioisthetruth]

[He puts up his hands.]

Fine, fine.

[heartstings]

And to answer, yes I am bitter. It's just been one hell after another.

[New drink in hand, thank God. She takes a long drink of it.]

You don't like this place. This world.

[heartstings]

Whatever gave you that idea?

[She levels her stare on him.]

[mysterioisthetruth]

OK, OK, Miss Sarcasm.

[He looks amused and sips his drink, eyes sparkling.]

[heartstings]

[She sticks her tongue out at him because she's mature like that.]

For all things that change, some stay the same.

[mysterioisthetruth]

Especially people's opinions.

[heartstings]

What? You're happy playing hero? Being on the government's leash?

[There's a pause before a grin forms on her lips.]

Ah, but of course you are. Here you have actual power and not just your little toys that let you play pretend superhero. And yet you still try so hard to prove you're not weak and pathetic.

But, y'know, I get it. It sucks when everyone else around you has been given these amazing powers or whatever.

[mysterioisthetruth]

[His expression darkens at that.]

You don't know me. You and everyone else across the multiverse who thinks they know who I am.

Yes, I have real power here. I'm a registered hero. That means something important.

[And that's clearly important to him.]

[heartstings]

It means shit-all.

[Her wings flutter lightly behind her in a bit of irritation as she takes a sip.]

But keep telling yourself it doesn't if it helps you get through the day.

[mysterioisthetruth]

I'm not going to let your bitterness cloud my night.

[He says, picking up his drink.]

Good luck with your... whatever.

[He says with a dismissive wave of his hand and starts walking away. Avoidance? Maybe.]

Coward.

[She takes up her own drink and goes in search of her dates. Failing that, perhaps someone to spend the rest of the night with.]
