Winter Gala

WHO: Everyone
WHERE: Jeopardy
WHEN: Saturday, December 21 from 5:00 p.m. onward into the early morning hours of Sunday, December 22.
WHAT: The Winter Gala Fundraiser for Jeopardy Relief Efforts
WARNINGS: Please include any necessary warnings in your TLs.
NOTES: This post will serve as a catch-all for logs for the entire event (though you’re also welcome to post things elsewhere, of course).

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Well, mostly. In the wake of a near-apocalyptic event, the city of Jeopardy is in need. What started out as an idea to advertise Rikki Chadwick's burgeoning business, after a little more planning and nabbing some ideas from Kenzi's post, she and Rupert have reconfigured and rebranded their idea to focus less on her and more on the relief effort.

Characters will enter the venue after giving a small donation at the door and they will be greeted by a large room lit in blues, soft pinks, and purples. From the ceilings hang snowflakes made of glass. The centerpieces are also made of glass. Come to think of it, nearly all the decorations are made of glass. Except, that is, the mistletoe hanging from several of the rafters and archways. A buffet-style dinner will be served from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at which point, the buffet tables and seating tables will be cleared away to make room for the makeshift stage for the DJ and a gigantic dance floor.

Drinks will be flowing, music will be playing, and people will be bidding on silent auctions to win everything from one of the centerpieces to a date with their favorite imPort and everything in between. So, eat, drink, and be merry until you can't stay awake any longer. Why not? It's all for a good cause, after all.

"You get all the interesting powers," he grumbles into his drink. Glass stuff, that wasn't unheard of, but that was a Tenno thing. Hadn't gotten his hands on it, didn't know how it worked. "How big can you go with it? How sharp?" Because those were the two reports you tended to get from the field when that glass model showed up: Even the most incurious and illiterate of guardsmen could tell you Big wall. Pointy things. Many cut. Also with an inevitable side of please send help.

"Mmm. 's a chance to wear nice clothes and drink something psychoactive," he holds up his... whatever this was, he liked the taste. "What's not to like about that?"

"You should try it. See if you can do hardened glass too--different chemical mixes. I need some for the lab." Sure, he could buy this stuff--but it was so expensive! Urgh! When he'd finally figured out how 'dollars' worked, he'd been aghast. Almost $100 per bottle? No! Absolutely not!

"And you--that's a good look." Shiny, fit the decor. Could do with a bit more patterning, but the braids in the hair were nice. "They are, and it's evil. I'm going to drink too much for this little body, I can already tell." Look, he knew how to pace himself. Sort of. But things tasting good was still so new that it was hard to resist.

He waves away the concern of money. "I can pay. I just don't want to pay as much as the locals are asking for this stuff. They're asking for the kind of markup high enough to make the Queens themselves angry." He pauses for a second to take another drink. "True story, y'know, they went to war a little while ago over price-gouging." It was hilarious.

As to the dress, though-- "You're wearing it now, what's stopping you from keeping it?" He was going to give his dress back, but that was only because he'd heard something about 'dry-cleaning', and he was not going to bother with whatever that was.

"It's special glass. Doesn't expand when you heat it, doesn't crack from thermal shock, that kind of thing. 'least not all the time." When you worked with biologicals, you had to sterilize your equipment! ...Admittedly with some of the nastier biologicals it was best to just melt the glass when you were done with it, but!

"It's not stealing if it's just acknowledging you wear it best, right?" That was his logic, anyway. No, he had no idea whose dress this was.

"Of course! There's always a catch." He sighed dramatically, taking another, longer drink. Turns out, emptying the glass was just what he needed, because by the time he was done, he had an idea.

"You know--" or at least he did, and he was gonna spread the wisdom, "--this modeling stuff they have me doing. You know what we're covered with, half the time? Shiny stuff." Take for example the big silver-banded rings that matched his dress. "On the hands, head, the clothes," he gestures to her dress. "Lots of places for an enterprising mind with unnatural glass powers to make something exclusive and expensive."

Plans were vague at the moment, but certainly enthusiastic. "You want design suggestions? I have them. In exchange for a cut of the profit, obviously. Then you make money, I buy borosillicate lab equipment, everybody's happy."

"Sure! It's impractical enough to be high fashion, after all." That's how it works, even at home. The grineer elite who were slaves to performance encased themselves in thick armor plating, made themselves unstoppable juggernauts. He'd done himself up in curvy, sculpted synthetic skin. Sure, there was some armor woven in there, some of his best, most interesting tech, but really, the whole point was to look fantastic.

"And I am a model, you know. I can advertise for you." Probably against the terms of his contract with Alexis McKing or something, but you know what? They'd just have to deal with it.
