Winter Gala
WHO: Everyone
WHERE: Jeopardy
WHEN: Saturday, December 21 from 5:00 p.m. onward into the early morning hours of Sunday, December 22.
WHAT: The Winter Gala Fundraiser for Jeopardy Relief Efforts
WARNINGS: Please include any necessary warnings in your TLs.
NOTES: This post will serve as a catch-all for logs for the entire event (though you’re also welcome to post things elsewhere, of course).

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Well, mostly. In the wake of a near-apocalyptic event, the city of Jeopardy is in need. What started out as an idea to advertise Rikki Chadwick's burgeoning business, after a little more planning and nabbing some ideas from Kenzi's post, she and Rupert have reconfigured and rebranded their idea to focus less on her and more on the relief effort.

Characters will enter the venue after giving a small donation at the door and they will be greeted by a large room lit in blues, soft pinks, and purples. From the ceilings hang snowflakes made of glass. The centerpieces are also made of glass. Come to think of it, nearly all the decorations are made of glass. Except, that is, the mistletoe hanging from several of the rafters and archways. A buffet-style dinner will be served from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at which point, the buffet tables and seating tables will be cleared away to make room for the makeshift stage for the DJ and a gigantic dance floor.
Drinks will be flowing, music will be playing, and people will be bidding on silent auctions to win everything from one of the centerpieces to a date with their favorite imPort and everything in between. So, eat, drink, and be merry until you can't stay awake any longer. Why not? It's all for a good cause, after all.

She slips up beside Sal, surprisingly silent despite the poofy dress -- the music helps mask any noise she might make at least. "Wallflowering isn't allowed." A devious little grin on her lips as she speaks.
no subject
"Well shit, look at the fucking princess who graces us with her presence tonight."
She slips the book back into her pocket, as a friendly face deserves more of her attention than just a cursory glance up. Offering her an exaggerated up and down perusal of this elegant and poofy dress, Kenzi is afforded a crooked half-grin for her efforts. Never one to back down from a chance to be cheeky and dramatic, she does a small curtsy too; the comparatively old-fashioned suit helps to give it that extra touch. "You're not here to lure me away from my watch post, are you?"
no subject
Kenzi sticks her tongue out before dipping into a princess-like curtsy of her own. "Can you blame a gal for wanting to live up her childhood fantasies of being a princess for a night?" She responds as she pops back up with a grin. Her hand moves up to make sure the headpiece hasn't slipped.
"Maaaaaybe. I could use a dance partner." Sal is probably not the first person she's approached for a dance since the floor opened up and she would not be the last.
no subject
"As much as I'd like to dance with a pretty, pink princess," she explains, "I think I've found myself a little out of my fucking element. Are parties usually...like this here?"
Sal makes a really broad gesture with her arms. Plenty indication that she is, apparently, very new to this kind of scene.
no subject
"What? You don't know how to shake your groove thang?" Kenzi teases as she turns her attention back to Sal and does a little shimmy. "Depends on the party, but yeah. Though I'm sure they'll put on a slow jam at some point if that's more your speed."
no subject
Where's a convenient brawl when you need it?
"No, fuck it, go ahead and show me the cultural intricacies of the groove thang," Sal relents with a sigh. Arguing with pretty women in delicate dresses isn't on her itinerary for tonight anyway. What did that guy say on the network? "Own your happiness"? Well, whatever he originally meant, apparently now it includes learning the local dance.
She holds out her hand. "But just one of them. Then I'm back to my fucking book."
no subject
A gala isn't the kind of place for a brawl but if that's something Sal wants Kenzi could arrange it for another time.
She grins while her wings give a happy little flutter behind her when Sal agrees. "First thing, groove thangs just means your butt. It's also the title of a song."
"One is fine with me," she responds cheerfully as she takes Sal's hand and leads her out onto the dancefloor. "Just follow my lead and remember to keep it loose."
no subject
Now, whether or not it's true and she can actually pay attention and follow along remains to be seen. She tries to take a breath and relax a little, loosen up her shoulders. Looking to Kenzi for instruction, she waits until they're in the middle of the throng before speaking up.
"So, how's this shit done?"
no subject
"Depends on the song but I'd say this one is more in the hips." She takes a moment to find the beat and then begins to move along with it. "Just find the beat and move with it. But, y'know, don't be like that guy." With a laugh, she jerks her head toward a guy that looks like he's trying to get ants out of his pants."
no subject
"Is this your usual definition of fun?" She says it out of curiosity. And thankfully, it's not just fighting that Sal is capable at—soon enough she's imitating the dancing Kenzi's doing, even if it's obviously a little more subdued. Maybe the mood will catch on slowly.
no subject
Kenzi's watching Sal as she tries to figure things, finding herself a little surprised when she starts to get the hang of it. Though she realizes she probably shouldn't. The woman was definitely a fighter and if there's one thing she's learned over the years dancing and fighting go together quite nicely.
"Partying it up and dancing the night away? It's def, like, one of my top fives." She spends most weekends going out clubs so she can drink, dance, and flirt. So clearly she enjoys it.
no subject
"Speaking of a good time, you ever decide on what to do with that old place of yours?" It's only been a little while, and Sal hasn't managed to forget about it yet. "You know, make it into a bar or a boarding house?"
She can't help but ask.
no subject
"Not yet. Turns out there's more cleanup than I thought and I still have to see about getting the gas and electricity and all that turned back on." A sigh. "Who knew fixing up a place would cost so much money? The Clubhouse was never this expensive."
no subject
She puts her petty irritations on the back-burner for now.
"Wealthy, generous patrons don't grow on fucking trees I guess," she says. "What about some shit like this? A fundraiser for the betterment of the community, or something saccharine like that, should get a few people fired up anyway."
no subject
Kenzi grins a little. "Actually. I might have a couple of peeps I can get some investments from. I just kinda wanna do it myself, y'know?" It's a bit of a matter of pride and she's not really in any rush to decide if she wants the place to be an open pub again or not.
