WHO: Armitage Hux and Klaus Hargreeves
WHERE: Cafe in De Chima
WHEN: Saturday Nov 23rd
WHAT: Memory loss discussions
WARNINGS: possible mention of destroying planets, the usual, etc
They had set this date before the world was ending and now that the crisis had passed, Hux saw no reason to break their plans. He hadn't been sure what Klaus did during the storm. The world hadn't ended so Hux sat here with his hands around a mug of black coffee.
He looked up when he saw Klaus enter, doing his best to put up the barriers in his mind. Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano had been helping him control his power and he didn't want to feel Klaus's emotions at the moment if he could help it. He still didn't have perfect control yet, however.
"You made it on time, I'm glad you were able to come," he said honestly. They could be friends, he had come to terms with that by now.

The gaps in his memory aren't particularly worrying. He's full of them, of little blackouts and vague and hazy recollections that could have been a dream. With as much poison as he's pumped into his body over the years, it's astounding he can recall anything.
"Yeah, I wasn't going to stand you up. Set a reminder and everything." Klaus grins at his friend, sliding into the seat across from him. There's no longing, not like there had been when they had first separated. No recognition of what they once had. Only a vague recollection of memories.
He had told him something horrible. And he had needed time to process it. And Klaus had decided that if he was being sincere, well, he would give him a chance. It's not easy being a better person on your own, after all.
He's tried, and failed, more times than he cares to admit.

There was nothing. Not even a hint. He couldn't help but sit back slightly but quickly did his best to hide his reaction. He supposed he shouldn't have been surprised after Klaus's reaction to Starkiller. It felt like what happened with Kylo all over again- one day everything was gone as if it had never happened.
"The coffee here is strong but decent," he said quickly as he pulled himself together, pushing his emotions down the best that he could.

"I mean... It's been a while since we talked. How have you be doing with your... you know...?" Contrition is too strong a word. Redemption is, too. But progress- progress he can get. Progress he understands, because Klaus himself knows that progress isn't linear.
He's slipped, he's stumbled, he's fallen backwards. He's taken one step forward and two steps back. But he also knows its easier to do it when someone is helping you.

"How are things with you? I assume your family must be keeping you busy," he remarked as he took a drink of his coffee.

Huh. How had Hux known that this was his favorite drink? Extra sweet, with plenty of whipped cream.
"Anyway, hoping things slow down next month. I am exhausted."

"You met one of the goddesses? Hopefully, this time they'll actually leave us alone," he commented as he watched Klaus drink his coffee. There was still whipped cream in the fridge at home from when Klaus would stay over and they would make coffee in the morning. He was glad to see his guess hadn't been wrong.
