[CAFFEINE FIX (November 20 & 21)]

He stops at the same cafe every morning before work, for coffee and a simple breakfast of eggs and toast. Even on weekends, there he is, at a table by himself with his breakfast and a book or some other form of reading material. When he's ready to go, he leaves a tip on the table and stops at the counter for a coffee to go, before he heads off to work.

The unusual part of this (although it's usual for him) is that he uses both hands to hold his book and no hands to manage his silverware. The knife butters the toast seemingly by itself, and the fork floats through the air between his plate and his mouth by itself. Use of powers isn't uncommon, but it gives him away as an imPort to anyone who's watching.

[INSERT TRAINING MONTAGE HERE (November 21)

The idea for this had first come up a couple of months ago, and it had taken him that long to decide to go through with it. He can tell that there's a need for something like this, and it won't hurt to try. If it doesn't turn out, then he never has to do this again.

Maybe, to borrow a concept from John Donne, he really can't be an island. What he's tried so far hasn't satisfied him or gotten him the life he wants, so maybe it's time to try something new.

He'd picked De Chima because he lives there and knows it better than the other cities. He was able to get the use of an assembly room at the De Chima STEM Academy (one of the perks of working there) and had put up signs in all of the imPort cities:

He has chairs set up in small groups. His intention is for those who need help and those who can offer help to sort into groups to work with each other rather than for it to be a large-group thing. In his experience, informal one-on-one practice works better than something formal.

He hopes he'd read the situation right and isn't just wasting his time here.

De Chima Powers

Gabriel likes going for runs and he picks a different city every time. In this case he picks De Chima and finds a flyer. Practice Powers?

He has no place to be. This is a time of healing and peace, he wants to invest it in himself and other people. Still, he could always help. Human beings would appreciate his 6,000 years of experience. Just like they appreciated him helping save the world.

So he shows up in the coat that was given to him and just stands in the door, studying the room and the chairs with mild - actual interest.

Just standing. Taking it all in.

It takes Erik longer to realize that someone is there than it would have taken Charles. Charles would have sensed an additional mind, whereas the additional metal carried into the room by Gabriel is a small enough quantity that it's not immediately apparent that it's there in the midst of all the other metal around. So it takes him a moment to turn away from adjusting the positions of the chairs in the room -- without using his hands -- and address the newcomer.

"You can come in."

He takes a few steps into the room and studies the chairs, "...That's not something I've seen before. Moving objects like that."

He folds his hands behind him, "Is this where the fliers said to come if you wanted to help teach people with powers and abilities? After the fight I thought I could lend my experience."

"I can do it with anything metal. They have magnetic fields." It's come in handy many times in the past, and likely will many times in the future too.

"What is it that you can do?" It's easier to help people find groups to work in if he can help them find similar powers, or possibly ones that cancel each other out.

Gabriel holds out his hands and they crackle with lightning energy."I'm also 6,000 years old." He sighed, "there are other things I can do, but being here

[ He doesn't strictly need training, but honestly after the last few months he thinks maybe he could use some form of refresher. Or in the very least be nearby in case someone needs to be fixed up.

And maybe, just maybe, after the vision he had in the church - he feels the need to actually seek out this version of Magneto. Just to see, and to get it. Or to try to. There aren't a ton of people here yet and he's honestly a little glad for it. So he turns up, dressed a little too lightly for the weather but here none the leess. ]

This is the place.

[If he had a different set of abilities he could tell which of the people here are mutants and which ones have powers for some other reason. Not that it matters too much at the moment, since this is for anyone who needs help. He'll have to content himself with that part for now.]

Are you offering help or in need of it?

[ He gives a little wave. ]

I've got healing powers, so like, if anybody gets hurt practising I got you covered. [ but ]</small I also have, uh... other abilities, that I need some help getting under control?

Healing is an asset. [One that he hadn't been sure how to cover, but this is a good start. It takes some of the risk out of this.] What sort of abilities do you need to control?

The... opposite of healing.

[ Josh makes an awkward swishy hand gesture. ]

I'm an omega level biokinetic. I've got the healing down pat, but uh, the other stuff is - I mean, y'know... it's hard to practise getting control?

Lilith gets herself there sometime before 7, catching Erik as he's still setting the room up. She's-- curious and whilst the majority of people she doesn't care about (she's already set up her coven) she has met him before, has had an interesting conversation about methods.

Besides, there's always use in information particularly with the ordeal that they've just been through. Witches weren't the only powerful people in this place either.

"I never did ask what you power was."

She'll absolutely just jump right in, announcing her presence with her question considering that her arrival to the room was very quiet (even with her heels).

Since she's there before he's finished setting the room up, he can answer with a visual aid rather than words. He makes a few motions with his hand -- towards himself, away from himself, a twisting motion -- and chairs move across the floor and into their groups seemingly on their own.

"In technical terms it's ferrokinesis. I can manipulate magnetic fields."

He doesn't seem that surprised to see her here.

Lilith nods as she understands the concept, similar to her own power if something a little more specific.

"Any magnetic field? Or does it need to be of a particular strength?" Or size. Depending on how well-developed his power was. Hopefully well considering the offer that he'd put out.

"If I can feel the metal, I can control it." He holds his hand out flat, palm facing the floor. "I can feel the metal in the ground. I could tear this building apart if I wanted to." Which he doesn't, one reason being that he works here. "I can also manipulate magnetic fields to be able to fly."

Her expression looks a little impressed with that final part though she's more curious than impressed if she were being honest. Flight-- well, she can levitate herself though she doesn't push it, not when witches are secretive by nature.

"I can-- imitate your power." A quick beckon with her fingers sees one of the chairs pull out from where he's settled it, though he may remember that the first time they'd met she'd levitated the cutlery he'd been trying to use his power on.

"Though-- if others arrive with different power I wonder how you aim to aide them."

[ Ruby's entry could probably be felt from some distance away. The girl was carrying far more metal than was strictly reasonable - having enough knives on her that it was totally possible she was prepared to play out a skit where her character was relinquishing an improbable number of knives to a security officer only to have to come back a few minutes later because she forgot one in some hidden place. It didn't occur to her that someone might be able to sense the knives, or maybe she'd have left most of them at home.

That said, when she entered the door she didn't look like someone who was going to start a ruckus and stab people. she looked like a thoroughly exhausted teenager who could use a good night's sleep, or maybe a week. She looked around and that exhaustion was engraved into her voice. ]

Uh, I'm here for the powers training?

[The good news is that if there's someone who will absolutely not judge her for having too many weapons, it's Magneto. He does, of course, make a mental note of the fact that they're there.]

This is the place. Are you in need of help, or offering it?

Both. [ She pauses and looks like she's trying to find words for a few moments, then sighs. ] Though I may not be very useful on the helping side of things until I've had more rest after all that stuff that happened... [ She does look ridiculously tired. ]

On the helping side of things I may be able to help with things related to animal communication. Since we talked I've been thinking and paying more attention to how I do things, and I sort of inadvertently confirmed that it's apparently psychic-based due to interactions with beings with a natural near-immunity to psychics. I may also be useful with helping people figure out how control some abilities that rely on willpower, too, since I think that's what my fire-starting ability is based on.

When it comes to needing help... I need suggestions from teleporters on where to go next with my limited fire teleportation... thingy. [ She makes a hand motion, then frowns. She's kind of annoyed how her ability to communicate seems to be fine one moment, and trash the next. ] I want to use it to help people, but so far all I can use it for is escaping things or getting in and out of burning buildings on my own... [ There was that pause again as she opened and close her mouth a couple times, as if having forgotten what she wanted to say before she even started. ] Technically I can control it. But I really don't know any of the limits except for how much energy it takes out of me...

[ As she had talked, she went from looking straight at him to slowly looking towards the floor. Keeping proper eye contact, or the illusion of it at least, was hard and she was tired, and certainly not at her best. ]

I hope to do more of these in the future, so just because someone can't offer help now doesn't mean they won't be able to later. I mostly just wanted to see what the interest was and start to work some things out.

[He looks thoughtful while she explains the animal communication part. He remembers her mentioning it before.] My daughter could communicate with animals. It was some sort of psychic ability, although she couldn't control it yet.

[He'd been helping her work on it, but she still had a lot of practicing to do to get there.]

Fire teleportation? Do you mean teleporting fire from one location to another, or something else?

Caffeine/powers

Nathan’s only there because he’s currently in the city for a side job. He’d figured he might as well stop in at the café for a coffee and a bite to eat. De Chima isn’t his usual hang out spot as he’s originally located in Heropa and his job at the museum is there. But this is a nice change of pace.

At first he doesn’t notice the unusual show of metal going on at the table next to him; he’s too busy with his head ducked and his pencil scribbling away at something in the leather journal. A mug of coffee sits there while he’s waiting on his meal and he glances up moments later, noticing then what’s going on.

“All that, must come in handy, huh.”

"It does, and not just because it frees up my hands for other things." That helps, but he does sometimes still need to use his hands to direct and manipulate the magnetic fields. "I can do much more with it than just this."

Caffeine Fix

Jane is in town on university business, but who says she can’t enjoy some coffee before a meeting? There’s plenty of time. In the café, she notices the movement right away. It’s not that she specifically watches for signs that someone might be an imPort; it’s just really similar to what she does all the time when she’s at home or teaching a class.

“Excuse me,” she says in a low voice, to not bring about any unwanted attention, “but is that telekinesis, gravity, or something else?”

"Ferrokinesis." That really is the easiest way to describe it, especially with his expanded powers now. Magnetic fields are everywhere, now that he can tap into them. "Anything with a magnetic field."

[bifroster]

“Really?” she asked, fascinated. Not a lot of people really work with magnetic forces. “Does that affect how you interact with electric objects?”

[frankensteinian]

"Not that I've noticed. They work just fine for me." He hasn't heard of any mutants having problems using electrical devices, but he supposes it's possible. There are a lot of mutants out there he knows nothing about.
