Nothing special happened for Chloe's last birthday, and Lucifer hadn't even been around for the one before that. So this year he's going to make sure something happens to celebrate it, and it just so happens that Chloe has recently moved in with him, which is a good reason to expand the purpose of the party into a housewarming too.

The food is hors d'oeuvres, which Lucifer didn't have time to make himself so he brought them in from elsewhere. The bar is well-stocked, with several top shelf selections to choose from. This is Lucifer's house, after all. There's even a grand piano in the living room, which somehow fits in with the furniture.

Don't mind the cat. He doesn't like anyone but Lucifer. If he gets too disruptive, he'll be banished to another room.

And be aware that if things get too out of hand, Lucifer has no qualms about psychically removing anyone from the party.

Later, when the guests are gone, the dishes gathered up, the leftovers put away, Lucifer corners Chloe in the kitchen, where he pulls a wrapped package from the top of the fridge. It's vaguely rectangular in shape, about the size of his hand. "There's more. This is for you."

Chloe is finishing up wiping some crumbs off the counter when Lucifer pulls the package down from the refrigerator, and she abandons the sponge in the sink, leaning her hip against the countertop and looking up at him.

"Lucifer. You didn't have to get me anything."

"I know. I wanted to." And he pretty much does what he wants, as she knows well by now. Especially when what he wants is to do something nice for her. "Open it."

When she does, she'll find a music box that plays a song he recorded for her.

"Oh, Lucifer."

She breathes out, smiling as the song plays, and runs her fingers across the top of the music box. Chloe looks up at him, her eyes wide as she smiles.

"It's the song. When you took me to prom."

Oliver and OTA

Oliver was not really one for parties, but he was not about to miss a party for one of his friends, here. Chloe was a good woman, and someone he was very glad to know. He was sure they would have been friends back home, eventually.

But that brings him here, bringing a present (a set of a thermal shirt and longjohns, to wear under clothing or a uniform and a card), and looking around to see if he could spot her, as well as anyone else he knew.

He collected a drink, nonalcoholic this time, so he could keep a good head as he wandered and took in everything he saw.

Chloe's decided to let loose for the evening, carrying around a glass of red wine that miraculously keeps getting refilled, although she does look a little sheepish when she encounters her friend/personal trainer.

"I promise, I've only had like, one piece of cake." She pauses, taking a sip of wine. "Three, okay? I had three."

"Relax, Chloe, I'm here as your friend, not your trainer, And even if I was, you are allowed to let loose a little sometimes, especially on your birthday." Oliver smiles as he nods to her.

She is a good person and he is glad he can see her relaxing, and happier, here.

"Happy birthday. I hope it is being a good one."

She looks relieved that she's not going to be admonished for going overboard with the cake situation, but she's also not going to mention that special occasions aren't the only time she lets loose with one too many snacks.

"It's great. I wasn't expecting any of this but Lucifer likes to surprise me. And as much as I don't want to admit it, he throws great parties." She glances towards wherever he is, likely chatting away with some of her friends. "I'm so glad you could make it."

Lucifer doesn't know everyone at the party, but he didn't expect to, since people Chloe knows were invited too. Which makes this a good way to meet people he doesn't know yet.

So at some point during the evening, he wanders over in Oliver's direction, drink in hand. He's not worried about his alcohol consumption with his supernatural metabolism, after all.

"Hello."

Oliver nods as he turns, and chuckles. There is only one person who that could be. "Mister Morningstar, I presume?" Oliver does his homework, okay?

He extends a hand to shake. "I'm Oliver Queen, a friend of Chloe's." Oliver is curious to see what this being was like.

"Lucifer." Nobody calls him Mister Morningstar. Morningstar isn't even technically his name; the humans just get that part messed up, and he'd needed something on the legal documents allowing him to establish an identity and open a nightclub.

"How did you meet her?" he asks as he shakes Oliver's hand.

Eve loved parties, but she had been keeping out of the way for some time now, lost in her own struggles and emotions. Still, nothing could stop her from coming out for Chloe. It was her birthday and housewarming and even if that meant going to the apartment of the man she loved and his girlfriend, she would do it. She is an expert at looking like nothing is wrong so her makeup is perfect, and her dress is a nice autumn deep orange with matching heels.

Spotting Oliver immediately makes her smile and she approaches, carrying a martini with her. Eve's instinct is to drink heavily, but so far she's managed to stay good. "Hi Oliver!"

"Eve! Hello. It's good to see you."

He moved to her and smiled warmly.

"How are you? has this place been treating you well?" His eyes lick to the glass, and his sense of sight and smell tells hi what the drink is, but he makes no sign of it. Everyone is entitled to drink as they like.

Eve never really had alcohol before coming back to earth and she was a relative lightweight, which is why she knows better than to go overboard. Especially at her ex's place. It still is nice to have something to soothe her nerves. Despite having cried herself to sleep for days now, she hasn't gone the drunken path, so that's good. For now the martini helps.

"Well, I'm not sure it's treating anyone well right now. I've mostly been keeping out of it. I'm not really equipped for, um, whatever's going on." Eve is no superhero. She doesn't understand anything that's being talked about on the network or in circles. Her friends are a lot more on top of these things than she is, so she simply trusts they can handle it. "How are you?"

So, if there's anyone on the planet who is over the moon about Chloe and Lucifer moving in together, it's one Ella Lopez. After all, she's totally been like an old school hashtag Deckerstar shipper from like way back, and she had assumed that the two idiots have totally been together this whole time without all of the stuff that went along with their normal world. (Of course there was a whole hell of a lot going on with the behind the scenes stuff that she didn't know about, but that's not anything that she can help right now.)

So, instead when Ella shows up at the party, it's with a decent bottle of red wine and a large bouquet of flowers as a house warming present, and then another large box containing a (tasteful) cat tree and a smaller box for Chloe. Because well, obviously, it's her birthday.

One gifts are given, Ella has grabbed a beer and it chilling in a corner of the room with an amused grin on her face.

Eve is not even close to being herself lately, but she kenw she had to get it together for tonight and be a good friend. It was the right thing to do, and maybe it would be a good distraction from her misery. She at least visibly seems like her normal friendly warm self when she comes to the party, like she isn't at all bothered she's at a housewarming for her ex and his current girlfriend, in a nice autumn orange dress. Her hair is wild as usual and her makeup is on point, partly because she has to keep redoing it from crying.

"Hi Ella!" she chirps cheerfully, smiling as she brings her martini glass over and offers it to her to clink the beer with.

It doesn't take someone being psychic to know that there's something wrong with Eve. Ella can see it, and she just looks at the way that her friend's makeup has needed to be redone and she can see it. So, Ella just clinks her beer bottle against Eve's glass for a moment before she looks around. Even without everything that Lucifer and Chloe has told her, Ella would know that this was like a really hard thing. Exes, man, no matter how good of terms you're on with them, seeing someone like move on with someone else is never an easy thing. Especially something that seems as momentous a step as this is for people like Chloe and Lucifer.

"Hey." Ella says quickly, and her concern is written large in her eyes, because Ella was like really bad at hiding stuff like that so she normally didn't really bother all that much. Looking around, she just spots the bathroom door as open before she hooks her arm through Eve's. "Come with me.

Eve was hoping that going out, even if it was for an emotional situation like this, was going to be helpful considering she's been hiding out for what feels like weeks now. And she does feel a little better trying to be her old self. Dressing up, not wasting days in her PJs looking a wreck, and shucking off the grief to focus on someone else. This might not be the most relaxing option, considering she's still in love with Lucifer and that's tough on anyone, but she appreciates being included. She wants to be the person who is on good terms with her ex.

She did forget for a moment how perceptive Ella can be and she almost resists, but that would make more of a problem so Eve goes along with it, still smiling, her fingers tightening around her drink. "How are you doing, knowing it's all real now?" Maybe it's a pointless attempt at a distraction, but she really means it too! She knows that Ella was filled in on everything and that her faith was confirmed, and Eve can just keep on confirming with her inside info!

"Miss Lopez!" Lucifer greets her after he's taken control of the cat tree and stashed it somewhere that hopefully the cat will find it and leave the guests alone. "I hope Beelzebub appreciates that."

Yes. The cat's name is Beelzebub.

"Thank you for coming."

There's a moment where Ella just tilts her head to one side, because she like totally one hundred percent can't tell if he means some new demonic arrival, or if he means the cat.

It takes her a second to realize that's what he's named the cat. Of course, she still goes in for a hug, because she's Ella, but when she pulls back it's with a shrug and a quick double wave of her hand. "Uh, of course! Like I'd ever miss yours and Decker's house warming. Or like. Her birthday or something I mean, of course I'd be here to celebrate. Been waiting for this day for like such a long time!"

But then she just adds quickly: "did you really name that poor kitty Beelzebub?</i?"

"What would you name a cat?" He doesn't have a lot of experience at naming things, especially four-legged things. It seemed fitting, anyway.

"This party is mostly for Chloe, but I thought she might like the idea better if it wasn't just focused on her. You know how she is about parties." But of course Lucifer wanted to do something for her birthday, because he'd missed the other one. "It's not going to top the strippers though."

Eve and OTA

Eve seems like her normal self from the moment she steps through the door, if perhaps trying a little too hard, although she's fine with people assuming the reason is because it's a housewarming for Lucifer and Chloe. It really isn't. She is in autumn colors, a deep orange that still somehow goes perfectly with the rest of her, and her dark hair is wild and free. Sure a few hours ago she was sobbing and her hair was a rat's nest, but she is doing just fine! Just fine!!!!

Eve of course brings a few cat toys and tries to coo at the cat who doesn't like anyone but Lucifer. She usually can win over beasts, but cats are their own type of particular. She brings for the house candles that smell like autumn and a piano music book for Lucifer that's of all love songs. Advanced skills, obviously, in case he wanted to brush up on any of them for fun. That is for the housewarming aspect.

For Chloe's birthday she has a small box that is wrapped brightly and definitely looks like jewelry, but she keeps looking uncertain about it and holds it rather than putting it anywhere for her. Eve can be found pretty much anywhere in the party willing to chat and having a martini and trying not to get drunk. For all appearances, she seems herself if slightly subdued, but that could be the place they're in.

Eventually he makes his way over to where Eve is, because she's at the party and it would be rude to ignore her, and anyway they're both making an effort. There are only a few of them from the same world here, which also counts for something, and besides, she'd been the first human to accept him for who and what he is.

Eve is trying her best to remember not to look sad as her default expression. She doesn't want people to know that she's staring off into space, zoned out and depressed, when not required to be on like now. She usually isn't good at holding back her emotion, but she's learning the skill well.

She smiles at Lucifer when he approaches. She almost wishes that the pain of seeing him was the only thing on her mind these days. Heartache at least is survivable. And she does still love him, so much, but day by day it's moving into that safe space as someone who she cares about and knows her well, and that's it. It still takes time, but going to things like this and supporting him and Chloe does actually help her move on, even if it comes with a sting.

"Of course!" She salutes him with her cocktail. "Oh, so I got you some piano books, there's apparently some music here that may be different from what we're used to, so they'd be new songs for you to learn!" Eve guessed that at least, she doesn't know every song to exist in their world, but it stood to reason another world would have different options.

"I'll have to take a look at those then." He hadn't thought much about if the differences between the worlds included the music that exists. He knows enough songs from their world that he's not likely to go through a shortage of them.

He won't mention that he knows how much Chloe likes to listen. He knows better than that, at least.

He feels like he should say more, but he doesn't really know what to do in a situation like this. He's never experienced it before, and Linda's not here to help him sort it out.

"Help yourself to some food."
