[Ezra's on his way to some Halloween party, hosted by one of his old coworkers from the poetry slam. He's excited, since pretty much every aspect of this holiday seemingly appeals to him from the costumes to the orange-colored everything. For today, he's opted for a rather simple costume, one of his classics. Given the popularity of imPorts, it's easy enough for him to find costumes from his galaxy, even if they're not 100% accurate.
Take this scout trooper costume, for example. While Rex would argue all of the Imperial uniforms have sight issues, this one seems even worse than the real deal. Anyone would miss with this on their head, stormtrooper or not. As he walks down the street, he tries to adjust the helmet, as if that make things any better.
It doesn't, which is quickly proven when he doesn't notice the person right in front of him and walks into them. He adjusts it again, and okay, he sees enough now. This is not good. Not that he couldn't handle himself, but it's not great. His feelings swirl together, a mix of not quite fear but maybe embarrassment and tiredness but still a little on edge.
Hoping to just brush it off and move on, he gives a small salute and keeps walking forward as if that didn't happen.]

But he stopped when a scout trooper passed by him. Embarrassment, there was something on edge. He turned around, trying to pick through the emotions he was feeling from the other. Something that made him curious.]
Stop. Who are you?
no subject
Uh. [Ezra lowers his voice slightly, putting on some approximation of an Imperial accent and hoping the helmet muffles him enough.] Just a guy. Going to a party. Name's Kallus. ... who are you?
[While nerves are at the front of his emotions, if Hux digs any deeper, there's an ever present anger because wow, it sucks having to "get along" with people from the Empire or the new, fake Empire.]
no subject
You're angry, not confused. I have a feeling you know exactly who I am.
no subject
[He holds his hands up as if to say hey, no threat here! But then he realizes something.]
Uh... what makes you say that, anyways?
[The accent is slipping a little, whoops.]
no subject
[He can hear the slips in the accent, the clues that it's not natural or as well-practiced. He didn't back down though, staring at Ezra curiously.]
Who am I to you? You must be from the same galaxy if you're angry at me. Or maybe you've heard about me from Dameron.
no subject
Literally, what are you talking about when you say it's not subtle? I barely even said anything to you. I mean, I'm trying to stay out of your way like we agreed?
no subject
He nearly rolled his eyes at feeling the annoyance but it's the anger that got his attention. That and the nervousness.]
It's strong, I can feel it coming off of you as if you hit me in the face. Do you always broadcast it?
no subject
[He's just Sith-ish occasionally. And maybe especially when it comes to people like Hux.]
I still don't understand, though. What do you mean, you can feel it?
no subject
[He wondered if Jedi weren't allowed to feel angry. It seemed ridiculous to forbid certain emotions and perhaps that was the downfall of the Jedi. He knew how strong emotions could be.]
It's like I'm feeling it too.
no subject
[Which he's not, since Ezra would be able to sense that. So... a Force-like power?]
But... good, I guess. What you're feeling, that's how I feel about the Empire. And if that's the anger we're talking about, I kinda do broadcast it. I mean, I am a rebel.
no subject
[The Force was one power he didn't want. He had seen enough firsthand with having to deal with Kylo Ren's powers that he wanted no part of it.]
But you still carry that with you here?
no subject
I've been fighting a war my entire life. It'd be kinda hard not to. The Empire took away my home, my family, everything.
[Coupled with the feeling of anger is an overwhelming sense of loss, the two always together, always with him.]
Not that you'd care about that, even with your powers. Were you even alive when the Empire was in power?
no subject
The siege of Arkanis was a memory that had stuck with him even decades later. Aside from dealing with Brendol, he remembered being happy on Arkanis but all that had changed when they had left to join the remanents of the Empire in exile.]
I was a child when the Empire fell and the rebels took my home, my family, and everything. You're not the only one who has lost something.
