October Catch-All

WHO: Nox and YOU (???)
WHERE: Various places, particularly in/around De Chima and Nonah
WHEN: Throughout the month
WHAT: Anomalies are fun, at least until they're not
WARNINGS: Severe bodily injury/gore (Maybe? Technically? Laser swords don't leave blood) for one of the prompts, it'll be behind a cut at the end of this entry.

There's... a lot of strange things happening this month it seems. And for the first half of all the craziness, Nox actually sticks to more mundane matters. Like exploring the strange Dwemer Ruins that have popped up outside several of the imPort cities. He almost has to- they're strange foreboding ancient ruins, and that's like catnip for Sith.

And while the traps are a nuisance at first, pretty soon he's accustomed enough to having to watch his step that he's able to get past them without difficulty. The same was true for the strange, highly primitive droids patrolling the halls. They didn't appear to possess anything comparable to the specialized sensors found on probe droids or mini-probes, which meant Nox was able to cloak himself and wander about at his leisure without interruption.

Mostly without interruption. He did make a point to go investigate anything that drew the attention of the mechanical guardians- anyone with enough sense to investigate the ruins was someone he might actually enjoy interacting with. And it was hard to have a proper conversation with a dead person, so helping them not get killed by ancient machines was certainly in his interest.

There's also the matter of the Ghost Train to deal with though, and whenever he encounters it he does actually make a point of trying to address the problems it's making. While he can't get rid of it, he can at least momentarily stop the thing. The ghosts inside are much easier to deal with, but it's dealing with them that causes his grip to loosen on the train itself. So after just a few moments of doing so is all it will take for the train to start moving again.

And then there's the zombies to contend with. Surprisingly, this is probably the easiest for Nox to address- he just kills them. Saberstaffs work a treat on the shambling undead. Unfortunately, he's also very familiar with proper quarantine procedures- people might be less grateful for the fact that he immediately kills anyone who's been bitten or injured badly enough by the monsters to draw even a little blood. The virus is new to him, its effects are less so- once it's in the blood, it's over, so it's better to just kill the infected before they turn.

Someone found their Shadow self...and dealing with it did not go well.

Nox had known something was amiss, he just had what he thought was the good sense to lead whatever it was that had been stalking him into the woods outside De Chima rather than risk confronting it in the streets. It certainly wasn't another ghost, but it didn't feel like anything else he'd ever encountered before either.

As it turned out, that decision was arguably not made in good sense. He was just obstinate enough to piss off his own personal Shadow, and it had transformed into something...considerably difficult to deal with. Deal with it he had, but he'd emerged worse off for it. His armored robes had taken the worst of a few attacks, though the fabric around the melted armor was still singed and smoldering. One of the "horns" of his helmet had been cleaved off, with a corresponding section of his left shoulderpad missing half a fang and a chunk of plating. He'd apparently narrowly avoided a decapitation- he'd been less successful avoiding a few other wounds.

Anyone sensitive to it would be able to tell from considerable distance away that Nox was not masking his presence. If anything it was amplified far beyond what it should be- a raw, howling storm of anger, hate, and fear- and it'd be apparent rather quickly why those feelings were in overdrive once anyone got close to the staggering, half-dead Sith Lord. In addition to the more moderate injuries, he'd been run clean through with a lightsaber. Twice.

The first left a gaping hole through his abdomen that passed clean through and out his back, just barely missing his spine in the process. The second was at a much sharper angle and a lot less clean (relatively speaking- lightsabers did tend to burn cleanly through just about everything they touched). That injury's exit mark was just a few inches to the right of his spine, and just above the hip. The entry wound was nearly twice as long, and high on the right side of his chest. It'd missed his heart by a hair's breadth, but for all intents and purposes Nox was dealing with one less functional lung than he'd had at the start of the day.

And the only reason he wasn't dead in the woods right now was because of just how heavily he was drawing on the dark side to stay alive. The downside was that left precious little room for him to focus on literally anything else, which is why rather than calling for help he was just...shambling and stumbling his way back toward the city. Likely not in the direction he should be going to get help either, since it was almost like he was on autopilot- whenever he'd reach a road, he either continued on the one he was on or turned to follow the new one. He just new the porter and help was somewhere in the city, and following a road would get him there. He just wasn't in any position to remember which road or any real directions more specific than "that way."

The man could probably use some help, even if he was in exactly no position to properly call for it...

Shadow Nox aftermath

Of course that much Dark would draw her attention. Even without recognizing the presence behind it, she'd go looking to find out what had happened. Ahsoka came running, lightsabers out and ready, though not yet lit. She did her best to shield herself from simply falling over under the roiling emotions.

Nox wouldn't feel like that for no reason. She grit her teeth and kept moving, leaning heavily on the Force to add to her speed. Not far..."Come on!" she hissed to herself, impatience and worry thrummed through her. He might be a Sith, but she rather liked him.

There! Her worry didn't let up at all once she caught sight of him, though she did slow as she looked for whatever had attacked him and managed those hits.

"Nox," she called, hoping to avoid startling him as she kept moving toward him. "Will you let me help you? I can heal, a bit." Just nothing fatal.

Ahsoka paused, giving the wounded Sith the chance to register who she was. Yes, she could have lit her sabers as well, probably even should have, but she didn't. And it paid off, after a handful of thudding heartbeats, in the form of her last name and the deactivating of the deadly red blade.

"It's me. I'm coming over," because she could see he was about to fall over. "And put your arm over my shoulders so we can get you down without more wounds." Which arm he chose to put over her shoulders, she'd leave up to him. Her touch was firm, but careful to avoid touching as many of his injuries as possible, while still giving the support he needed.

shadow stuff also

Yeah, that's pretty noticeable. Ezra still spends a good amount of his time in De Chima, having lived there before and having a number of friends there. And obviously, someone has to check on the Loth-cats still in the area.

The cats sensed it a second before he did, growling despite how technically far away the darkness was. And like any good Jedi, Ezra sensed darkness and ran straight towards it. Giving off a calming wave in the Force as he left, he promised the Loth-cats he'll be back later and to stay safe and all that. They're cats so they responded by not responding.

As he got closer to the source and further into the forest, he called out.

"Hello? Is anyone there?"

This was turning into a horror movie. Ezra should probably be more worried, considering he didn't even recognize the presence. Of the dark side users, he'd probably recognize Kylo easy enough, maybe Anakin too.

"Hey! Anyone out there? I'm not- I'm not gonna hurt you," he added once he realized he might not be welcome.

Zombies

Marco doesn't disagree with Nox's way of handling the zombies, and the teenager is a fairly regular presence at the zombie fighting sessions. Since he's got combat experience, no trouble killing humans, and the ability to heal himself, it's a no brainer. This time was particularly nice, though, since there was someone else with similar ideas on zombies, and they were good at killing them.

Or at least it was going great until his temporary ally tried to attack him because he had a little blood on him after demorphing. Marco holds up his hands and jumps back quickly with the practiced movement of a soldier, "Whoa, chill! Not my blood! No bites, no injuries. Pinkie swear! Shapeshifter. I got doused in morph, that's all."
