Pursue Your True Self
WHO: Adachi, Shadow Adachi, and yoooooooou
WHERE: Heropa
WHEN: During the Shadow portion of the event
WHAT: Adachi thought he was good when it came to this shadow of the true self crap. He thought wrong.
WARNINGS: Mentions of murder, some very, very misogynistic and misanthropic talk. Adachi didn't used to be nice.
[Close to Iris and/or Bart]
To say that Adachi had panicked when he saw the fog outside was a slight understatement. He had gone through the house, closing every window and making sure every door was sealed tight, before cancelling any appointments and jobs he had and diving under the covers of his bed -- because let's face it, that was the smart thing to do when you knew what was coming: yeet yourself into the nearest hiding place and hope that it passes, right?
Besides, this had to be a trick; he had accepted himself, right? There was no way he should have been able to see the fog anymore, right? That was totally how that worked, right?!
A little worm of doubt wriggled into his head, whispering about how things hadn't really changed just because he was behaving himself. He was, and would always be, nothing more than a criminal... nothing more than Empty...
Adachi let out a whimper, and all anyone outside of his blanket "fortress" would be able to see what a quivering lump, with Riza at the foot of the bed, looking like she was ready to pounce on said lump.
[Open to all]
As much as Adachi wanted to hide until the fog was gone, part of him acknowledged that he needed to confront whatever was out there. Because he knew something was out there, could feel it in his very bones, and as much as it terrified him to have to confront it, he knew he needed to. Who else was going to deal with his issues, after all? The clown guy? Goro-kun? Yusuke-kun? Yeah, no.
So that was why Adachi was carefully patrolling Heropa, his gun out and held tight, ready to lift and point it the second he felt something out of place.

[ Feel free to post your own prompt, and let me know if you want to confront Shadow Adachi separately. ]

Maybe Adachi hears the sound of his approach before he's seen.

"S-sorry..." he muttered as he let his gun arm drop, never mind he hadn't had his finger on the trigger of the gun, resting along the barrel for this exact reason. He was a twitchy, nervous wreck and he knew it.
no subject
"Whoa... Fuck, are you okay? He asked as he recognised the other man.
no subject
"S-sorry, man, I just..." he began, before he let out a sigh. "I know what this is, what this fog is. It's kinda freaking me out."

"I wish it was just fog."

"Well... you know how we always got a part of ourselves that we keep hidden? Something about ourselves that we don't want others to see?"
no subject
"Not usually a good part. The private face."

This is beyond anything she's stepped into before. It's not an easy venture out for some cat food and litter, but she had to make the trip.
As she crosses the street, she thinks she can see a figure cutting a silhouette against the grey, but it's only until she gets close enough she recognizes them. She stills immediately spotting the drawn gun, her heart skipping a beat. ]
Adachi-san? What are you doing?
no subject
[ ...he was just scared out of his mind. It was fine. ]
Okamura-san! S-sorry, everything's fine here... how are you?
[ ...that was the most unconvincing thing ever. ]
no subject
[ Definitely unconvincing.
And as Haru had a weapon almost pointed at her, she remains guarded, keeping a polite distance from Adachi initially. She's had guns and other weapons pointed at her in the Cognitive World, but in reality?
Well, the heavy, cold metal frightens her easily. ]
... erm, to be honest, now I'm concerned.
no subject
Okumura-san... you can see this fog, can you?
[ Please don't see the fog, please don't see the fog... ]
no subject
[ Is he feeling well? There's a sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach. ]
It's hard to make out much in this fog.
no subject
Okay. Okay. This is fine. We just need to get right outta here. Like, two minutes ago.

What? What's going on?

She had done the second-best: work from home and edit articles to be posted online. But as she had watched Tohru close every window and door, she had realized something was off. He was acting paranoid, and not about the undead sauntering around town.
So she slid into bed, giving Riza a smile as she gave the lump a quiet poke. "Hey. Got room for one more under there?"
no subject
"Depends; are you a fellow chicken?" he asked, making a half-hearted attempt at a joke.
