[OPEN] NOT SO NEW VERSE
WHO: Kenzi, housemates, Knock Out, & YOU
WHERE: Jeopardy, De Chima, Nonah, and/or Heropa
WHEN: Throughout October
WHAT: Various prompts in the quick format but will match
WARNINGS: language, zombies, possible gore, will add if needed
A. Jeopardy Residence #002
[When she doesn't have to be up early to get ready for work at the book store (a job she's not sure she's going to keep but the money is necessary right now), Kenzi's daily routine consists of waking up sometime around noon, making her way into the kitchen for a bowl of sugary cereal or cold pizza, and then plopping down in front of the TV while she scrolls through the network. Sir Apple, her fairy dragon, following behind her through the whole routine.
She makes the whole settling in as a newbie thing seem like it’s nothing, though it helps that isn't her first go at being kidnapped to a new world. In all honesty, she's struggling with the change. It's been four years since she was last here. Nearly everyone she knew and everything she’d owned was long gone. But as is her way she's putting on a brave face and keeping up that act.
After she's done with her morning routine she goes about getting ready to go out. She doesn't like the house, she doesn't even like Jeopardy. The whole place gives her the heebies. So it's a pretty small window of time for any roommates to run into her until the evening when she returns for her nightly routine that involves more food and TV while scrolling through the network.]
B. For Knock Out
[It's early evening and Kenzi is on her way home after a day at the book store. She's lost in thought until she catches sight of a lovely red sports car parked nearby. Unable to help herself she rushes over and circles the vehicle.]
Hello, gorgeous. Who do you belong to? [She muses aloud as she moves toward the driver's side door. She glances around quickly to see if anyone is watching before reaching out to give the handle a jiggle, hoping that it's unlocked.]
C. Zombies
[When she was originally in this world Kenzi used to go to an abandoned warehouse in Maurtia Falls to practice with her abilities, that was until Cú built a place for training and sparring. But now Kenzi is avoiding that city. For reasons.
Sure, she could probably wander out into the desert and practice there but she'd rather get away from Jeopardy. So she makes her way to Nonah in hopes of finding a similar warehouse to practice in.
As she moves into some of the less populated areas of the city she begins to notice how quiet it is. She's no wildlife expert, but she knows that even in cities the sounds of birds or stray animals should be heard. It's as she rounds a corner that she realizes why. She nearly walks into a shambling group of zombies that seem to be making their way somewhere.
She somehow manages to go without making a sound as she ducks back around the corner, panic rising. If she had her old abilities something like this wouldn't be an issue, but she's practically powerless. Unfortunately for her some of the small group had taken notice of her and begin making their way around the corner.]
Good job, Kenzi. Go out on your own and run into zombies! [She mutters as she quickly makes her way back the way she came. All seems to be going well until she runs headlong into one of the roaming zombies, falling over and rolling.]
FuckfuckFUCK! [She yells as she scrambles to her feet, iridescent insect-like wings flaring on her back.]
WILDCARD. Around the Various Cities (pick a city any city except Maurtia Falls)
[Kenzi can be found around any of the other cities, with the exception of Maurtia Falls. She might be doing some window shopping and trying not to stand out as an imPort (or in general). Maybe she's at a cafe or fast food restaurant grabbing a bite. Maybe she's closely watching someone, marking them to nab their wallet if they look like they have some cash on them. Maybe she just ran into your character while trying to pass them on the street.
I'm open to anything, maybe even dragging her into some of the continual plot elements. If you have any questions feel free to hit me up on plurk at
rubberspaceducky.]

He stops when someone approaches him, circling with a praise about his appearance on her lips, and he silently preens, straightening on his wheels. The effect of which is almost immediately lost when she tries his door handle and, near-stunned by the temerity, he actually lets it open to reveal the interior (including the lack of driver) which clashes when he balks loudly: ]
Excuse you, that's rather rude.
no subject
D-did you just speak? [She knows it shouldn't be that strange, but she has to be sure it's not some sort of sophisticated security system.]
no subject
And if I had a shanix for every time someone thought it was acceptable to put their grubby hands on my finish, I could buy this whole planet.
[ He shuts his driver's door with a little extra "hmph!" for emphasis. ]
no subject
Excuse you, my hands are not grubby.
[As he slams the car door Kenzi jumps back to avoid getting clipped by it.]
Now whose rude?
no subject
Thank you, I suppose, for the compliment: I am gorgeous. Was there something you needed?

When he spots a fairy girl in close quarters with one of the zombies, he hurries, coming up behind the zombie and slashing at it with his glaive. As he moves, the zombie happens to be lunging forward in an effort to take a bite out of Kenzi, and instead of getting the creature across the neck, the first slash goes across the creature's back. He swipes again, and this time the zombie's head goes rolling.
"Are you okay?" he asks the girl. There are more zombies converging on them, but he wants to check on her before he goes to fight them.

When no pain comes from the expected zombie assault she lowers her arms a fraction, one eye opening to take in the headless body lying before her. "Er, what? Yeah, yeah." She blinks, standing upright and straightening her clothes as she takes notice of the tiefling.
And then she notices the other zombies nearing. "But maybe not for long."
Why did she think this was a good idea when she doesn't have her sword or knives?
no subject
He's assuming she likely does have magic she can use, judging by her fairy wings and the sparks that had been flying out of her hands. While a spellcaster can't be expected to do too much with no one buying them time to cast any decent spells, he figures that's more of a possibility now that he's here.
With that request made, he moves forward to attack the zombies, swinging his glaive and downing another one. It's clear that one on one, zombies are no match for Anton. However, he also clearly is not in a one on one match against them, and the rest of the zombies move in to try and surround him.
no subject
"Yeah, I'll right get on that," she shoots back at him in a sarcastic but panicked tone. She ducks to make herself a smaller target, shaking her hands trying to get more than just sparks to form.
"Oh, c'mon, c'mon," she mutters. And then she remembers the other power the file had mentioned, something about creation. "Maybe..." She takes a deep breath and focuses, trying to imagine wakizashi she'd found at a pawnbroker in her hands.
When she opens her eyes she doesn't find what she'd hoped for. Instead, there's a small red wooden triangle that looks like it came from a child's toy chest.
"No!" She throws it frustration.
no subject
One of the zombies bites down on his metal armor in a futile attempt to get through to the tiefling underneath, but two others seem to have more luck, one getting a mouthful of his uncovered bicep, the other grabbing and chomping down on his tail.
He cries out in pain.

But he is out there, flying, fighting, and not stopping. For once, being a tireless synthezoid is coming in handy, and he keeps going, without rest.
When he spots the woman and her close encounter with the zombie, he goes into a dive. The zombie is so close, there is no time for anything fancy or safe, and so Jonas goes dense as dense can be and slams one hand into the had of the thing as it rears back to swing at her.
There is a sound like a smashing grapefruit, and then there is not head on the body, and it sinks to the ground. Stepping over it, Jonas nods to the woman. "Are you alright, ma'am?"
Glancing around, seeing others, he shakes his head. "Could I give you a lift... anywhere else?"
no subject
The popping squishing sound catches her off guard, she almost doesn't want to lower her arms but then there's a voice. She slowly lowers her arms and is unable to let her gaze drift to the smashed mess of zombie's head. Her face contorts into one of disgust as she gags a little and quickly turns her gaze to her savior.
"Uh...yeah. Yeah to both." She rises, drawing wings back up so that they fold and hide beneath her jacket. A glance around tells her more of the undead are beginning to close in on the two of them.
no subject
One of the zombies lurches out of seeming nowhere, sending Jonas stumbling to the side for a moment, before he grabs it and lifts it, then hurls it into the others.
He reaches for her again and as soon as he has her, he will take off, sending them up and away from this group.
"I am not sure where these things come from, but I never expected to see actual zombies." He feels rather horrified by them.
no subject
"Holy shitballs!" She stares wide-eyed as the zombie is tossed, unmoving until she realizes he's holding out his hand again.
Once they're off the ground and leaving the hoard behind Kenzi relaxes a bit. "In my experience, they come from Hel."
no subject
He may be strong and tough, but this is entirely new to him.
As he flies, he keeps an eye out for others in danger, and for a safe place to land her.

[He motions for her to come closer.]

[Kenzi moves closer while keeping an eye on the encroaching hoard.]
So what's the plan? I don't have any weapons and my powers are useless.
[She can't be sure her powers are useless, but if the sparks are anything like what she had for a short while they're only good for a distraction.]

Plus, it makes for good practice. No one human is getting hurt and if the boom is a little too small or a little too big, there's no real harm done.
...it being Carter, the boom is rarely too small.]
Hey, miss! [He sees her from behind, not yet recognizing him as the person with the adorable little lizard he'd seen on his phone.] Over here! Get behind me!
no subject
The wings on her back flutter a little as if trying to get her off the ground but failing to coordinate themselves properly.]
Please tell me you got a cool power that's good for zombie killing. [The words come out rushed and somewhat breathless.]
no subject
[There's something mildly unsettling about the exuberant light in his eyes when he says that, as if she's just asked him if he thinks his wife is beautiful. A moment later he shakes the sparkles off and gestures for her to go back further, behind a dumpster.]
You might want to cover your ears, miss!
[Carter checks to make sure she's clear before turning back towards the horde. He holds back just until the first one's about to put a hand on him, and then lets loose with a midsized explosion from his body that sends limbs and torsos flying like confetti. The follow-up whoop may be hard to hear amidst the ringing in one's ears.]
no subject
Uh... 'Kay.
[She puts a little distance between herself and him and does as he suggested. The resulting explosion causes her to jump in surprise.
She slowly lowers her hands from her ears and looks from him to the bits of zombie on the ground.]
Okay, first off, gross. Second, neat.
no subject
Think I might have overdone it a little today, haha. A lot of work to do with these zombie things walking around. Are you okay?
