[Event Things: OTA]
WHO: Ben Hargreeves + OTA
WHERE: Here, there, wherever
WHEN: October
WHAT: Event Open Log
WARNINGS: Zombies. Dude Broâing and spooky shit.
{Dude Bro! Fire Element}
He doesnât know what hit him. Just one day he was going to pick up car parts and suddenly he changed. Like something in the air was off. Or the area? He wasnât sure. He didnât care either. Why would he CARE?! He was so manly now. So strong. Such a DUDE.
Ah yes, he was also covered in blue FIRE, his normally dark hair standing on end in flames, dancing in the breeze. He had some cracks in his skin, a brighter blue, like fire was under his skin. He stood tall and proud, and forgot where he parked his car.
Who needed a car when you were THIS MUCH BRO.
âNeeeeerd!â He yelled at someone in passing, strutting on down the street like he owned the place.
When he finally changes back, hell be home, safe and sound and confused to all this mess. And also where his car is.
{Zedbies or Zombies!? Eh, all dead all the same.}
Whatâs October without zombies? Heâd bought a couple of movies in Nonah and was intending to invite a couple of friends over, as well as siblings, to watch some zombie flicks. Some local movies that heâd never seen but he was assured they were grand.
Coming out of the market, he saw a man shambling forward towards two teens. They screamed and backed up, he moved for them, moaning. âHey man, leave them alone!â Ben called walking more that way. The man turned, blood falling from his mouth and moved for Ben. The girls screamed and ran, the man came to Ben, moaning, dripping of blood. He came too close and lurched at Ben.
Ben used his ghost powers to disappear, and the man seemed confused, swinging at the air and moaning again. The market called the cops and they arrived. Ben stood back, confused. The man acted like a zombie. As the police tried to cuff him he attacked. They shot him three times in the chest and nothing. One man got bitten and cursed. âChrist!â He cursed and they shot the man again.
âGo for the head!â Be called from his ghost like state, pleased to see one bullet hit the man in the head and he went down. He appeared again, checking on the cops, eyes wide. âHe bit you. You need to have that checked. Itâs like heâs a zombie or something.â
He threw away the movies he bought. No one needed that.
Ben, noticing more zombies here and there, was being more cautious. More careful. If he bought a bat for bludgeoning, he canât be blamed. He could be found here or there, bat in hand, taking care of zombies from time to time. Are you walking with him, or are you in trouble too? Let him help.

FIRE BROS
Gabriel has been helping. Doing righteous justice, protecting people, and even making sure Nerds knew their place. The guy with the four big blue and white wings appears out of nowhere staring at the person who looks in his direction, You bothering my bro?! Get out of here nerd!
The archangel turns, FINALLY somebody who shows up who is awesome. And righteous! You walking the path of righteous justice brother?
FIRE BROS!!!!
He's never felt BETTER.
Never felt stronger or more amazing than right now. And why shouldn't he? He's an AWESOME DUDE. His Awesomeness knows no bounds. He could walk down the street and people should fling themselves to his feet, he's that awesome.
"Bro!" He said to the winged dude of awesome. "He totally was bothering me too." No he wasn't. The poor guy was just passing. "What a nerd, right?" Ben, no.
He looked over the Angel like bro and gave a self assured nod and smile, approving to his appearance. "You know it, brother. It's the only path to walk." What path? What was he talking about? Didn't matter, he had to agree with his other bro!

Gabriel glares at a collection of humans staring at his wings before gesturing. When he speaks, his voice sounds echoing, Finally. Someone Gets it! I'm Gabriel. Let's go find some nerds to beat the fuck up. There's a big cluster of them down this way.
Pointing into an area people are slowly being evacuated form, he nods, That's where the trouble is. You ready for this?
no subject
People being evacuated is a good idea, because Brother Ben is ready to take on some nerds and geeks and fix this place for good! He hums at the other, his hair standing on end in flames as he agrees. "Hell yeah!" Can you say Hell to an angel? "I'm all ready to clean this place up by making a little mess, bro."
He starts stomping his way that way, because that way is where all the trouble is! "No one can stop us!"
Zombies
Sure, that was a reflex for him, but Rikki couldn't also do it, so when shots started firing, she ducked reflexively behind the nearest obstacle — a trash can, stifling a yelp of surprise when she saw the man the police had been shooting at drop, finally. "Oh my God," she gasped. Did she literally just witness someone committing suicide by cop?!
The sound of a disgusting groan to her left pulled Rikki's attention away from Ben and the officer and when she looked to see a woman looking as bloody and awful as the first man had, it surprised a scream out of her and she jumped to her feet. "What the hell is going on?!" she cried out. "Listen, listen, right, I don't want to hurt you, mate, but I will if you don't back up," she warned the woman who ambled toward her. Rikki's hand went up reflexively, fingers curled in slightly because her instinct had always been her own mermaid power. Then, she thought better of it, straightening her fingers stiffly instead.
The woman took one more step before turning into a giant zombiesicle and Rikki stared back, shaking and swallowing thickly with nerves. "Ben" she asked warily. What was she supposed to do? Would it stay frozen? Miriam had, but Miriam was a normal person and there was clearly something wrong with this person.
no subject
The Cop held his bitten arm, and--Rikki screamed.
The world tilted on end for a moment as he felt like he moved in slow motion to turn and look to her. Another one was coming for her. He moved, taking steps back to her, only to freeze in step as he watched the woman freeze. He blinked, then nodded, as if she could see it.
When she asked for him he blinked back into existence, right behind her. His hands coming to her shoulders to pull her back, closer. "Good reaction." His heart was racing now that he was alive again. Racing hard in his chest, not because of the Zombies but because Rikki had been in danger. "Sorry about disappearing. Habit. Shit, these look like zombies. What the hell..."
no subject
"It's okay, mate, I assumed it was reflex," she replied gently. "I dunno...but I think we should go..." she said, her breath barely above a whisper as she looked over her shoulder to look at him, swallowing thickly.
Because he looked freaked out, too, she didn't feel uncomfortable when she slipped and admitted, "my heart is beating so fast, it feels like it's going to beat right out of me. We should really go, yeah? Please?" Ben might've grown up trained to be a hero but Rikki was no hero.
no subject
His heart was racing as well, a bit faster then it should. He knows how to fight, he was taught well, but now he has someone who shouldn't have to fight, to protect. He knew she could handle her own, but that was beside the point. She shouldn't have to.
Both hands moved to rest at her shoulders from behind, and he nudged her to walking in another direction, keeping her in front of him just to protect her from behind. "Yeah, let's get out of here. I didn't hear anything on the news about zombies. What the hell is going on?"
That bitten cop was throwing up over by the first victim, waving at them to try and tell them to stop. Ben was not stopping. Nope.
no subject
It had her shaken, experiencing that. Rikki was used to weird, but she was used to...growing a mermaid tail brand of weird. Cute weird. Fun weird. ...not zombies trying to kill them weird. It was a lot to take in; it was dark and gross and her expression showed just how uncomfortable she was with the whole situation, if he could still see her face as he guided her forward.
But, because she was Rikki, it was in her nature, once the imminence of the threat had passed, to make a joke. "So, more or less disgusting than the water zombies in Tahoe?" she asked in a tone that would have been more playful if it wasn't a little on the shaky side, still. The grin on her face didn't match the wariness in her eyes.
no subject
"It's a toss up. The water zombies had the good graces to explode in water, so you could wash off. But they were pretty disgusting." he said honestly. There was a moan from a car near them, a woman inside of it, groaning like a zombie, there was blood from her neck, but she seemed like she was just waking to death.
"Maybe we should run to the car. I'm not too keen to see what else is lurking around here." he nudged and started to pick up the pace. The old car he had was at the end of this row, so not far away. He was looking forward to being home though.
no subject
Rikki opened her mouth to respond to him with another quip when she heard the same sound he did and it pulled her attention toward a nearby car. "Oh, my God...oh, no..." she groaned with disgust, shaking her head and moving closer to Ben only to move away again when he suggested they run.
Nodding, Rikki swallowed thickly. "Yeah," she agreed and, without putting much thought into it, reached between them and took his hand so that they wouldn't get separated. "Yeah, no, I think run," she continued, picking up the pace to match him and then kicking it up to a jog to let him know that she was ready to take off in a sprint when he was.
Power Drain; Ghosting Too Much; open to all/multiple
Right now would be a great time for his super suit to be finished.
As it is he's only lightly armored and covered in a hoodie, but it doesn't matter with how much he's Ghosting.
What IS a first for him is pushing the ability to it's limit. He had no idea it HAD a limit, and he did read the file they gave him on his abilities. At first it was a headache, then a lightheartedness, to which he found a place to take a break.
There was a woman a child running down the street, away from three walkers. Shambling, one missing an arm. He was ghosted still, popping up to slug one in the back of the head like before, knocking it clean off it's neck. She force of the blow, as well as his tired state of ability made it so when he went to pop back into his Ghost form, they frazzled.
He shifted for a moment, only to stagger backwards, almost passing out. the bat used like a prop, he was half bent over, holding his hand to his head. "Shiiiit." He heard the groan of the two left, turning towards him. He backed up, trying to lift his bat, ready to swing again. Ready to Ghost again.
It didn't work and he staggered again, weak, tired, head swimming and about to lose it.
Zombies
Does it count as killing someone if they're already dead?
no subject
[A baseball bat, not a Batman, though he has that here now too. he appeared as Kirk dropped down, another zombie bites the dust. Ben let out a huff, brow raised at the other.]
Pretty sure this kind of dead walking is okay to kill. No one seems to know where they came from anyhow.
A battle axe though? A bit much, isn't it?
no subject
[Plus, it looks awesome. He swings it again at another zombie stupid enough to come near him.]
no subject
[He moves, going invisible again and ducking out of the way. From behind Kirk there is a CRACK and the bat hits the skull of a walker soundly. Ben stands there a moment after, frowning, swinging gunk off his bat as the body fell.]
But seriously, where the hell are all of them coming from? Have you heard anything?
no subject
[He knows it's a joke, which is why he doesn't give Ben the satisfaction of stupidly explaining it to him.]
I really haven't been listening to newscasts outside of the initial one that brought me here. Too busy shooting zombies.
no subject
[Totally throwing those out now.]
[There are a few more in the distance and one shambling towards them, but Ben hasn't moved for it yet. He leaned on the bat, looking at Kirk instead.]
Now, I can't quite tell. Are you enjoying yourself? Don't tell me this is what you enjoy doing on a Saturday night. [It wasn't even Saturday...]
no subject
[Kirk slips the axe onto his back as he swaps it for the rifle. He might not be the biggest fan of guns, but he's suddenly grateful to his father for teaching him how to shoot as a kid.]
Don't tell anyone... but I'm having a blast. [He closes his left eye to start tracking one of them in the distance.] I think I've missed killing people.
[Should he have said that? Probably not, but he's caught up in shooting zombies.]
no subject
[He said with a half laugh, and then... dropped his head a bit in a sigh.]
You just said that out loud, I hope you know. Try not to hit the living, huh?
[the sound of the gun did bring more to their attention too. Ben Covered Kirk's back by taking out two more zombies with a swing and a blow]
no subject
[That said, he is slightly embarrassed to have admitted that out loud.]
And if you want me to let those five zombies charge you, Shaun, I can go somewhere else.
