WHO: Lance and YOU!
WHERE: Heropa
WHEN: Last Half of October
WHAT: Lance gains control over the dragon Ultra Beasts and uses them to clear out the others attacking Heropa.
WARNINGS: None atm

It didn't take Lance long to find the Guzzlord that Nanu had talked about. Flying on Dragonite to the coast, he easily caught sight of the monstrous not-Pokemon crawling onto the beach. As if the screaming beachgoers weren't enough, he could sense the thing before he could even properly see it. The man had been right, it looked like it was heading straight for Heropa.

It was time to put his powers to the test.

He did manage to stop the Guzzlord, but once he heard that other Ultra Beasts had been spotted in and outside the city, he knew what he had to do.

[A] - Guzzlord vs Xurkitree!

A group of Xurkitree were going about during their thing in the middle of town. First raiding an electrical power plant to recharge before walking and wobbling into the streets, terrorizing anyone who is in their way. Electricity arcs and sparks off their bodies, shocking anyone who is even remotely in range, and causing a bit of a panic among the citizens.

However, there's even more screams as a giant black creature comes barreling down the road from the other direction. Its own cries drowning out those of the people that are scrambling to get out of its path. Standing on top of the gluttonous monstrosity was one dragon master, his cape billowing in the wind as he rode the Ultra Beast like an oversized steed into battle.

The Guzzlord came to an abrupt halt in front of a small convenience store, snapping its pincers in interest at the building itself. Several terrified customers fleeing in every direction.

"No, you can't eat that!"

Lance's words of exasperation eliciting a screaming whine from the beast.

"I know you're hungry. You're... always hungry."

It was only the blessing of the power he had been granted here that gave him any control over this ravenous creature. Unfortunately, he couldn't sense or control any of the other Ultra Beasts with the exception of one. When he noticed people running in their direction and not away, that's when he knew he was close. The Xurkitrees then coming around the corner, waving their arms as they chased the helpless citizens. Lance had to pause for a moment as he recognized an uncanny resemblance between the Ultra Beasts and a certain Team Skull Boss.

"Those you can eat."

This said to the Guzzlord who turned to face the oncoming threat. The man leaping off its head before it made its charge towards the other beasts, resulting in the start of a vicious brawl.

[B] - Poipole and Naganadel!

Lance didn't particularly like taking down these confused Ultra Beasts that were in a world they didn't know or understand. What else could be done though? He already discovered that Pokeballs don't work on them, and they were harming people.

Having the Guzzlord under his control though, he continued directing the beast into attacking its cousins that invaded Heropa. Even if it meant getting consumed by the constantly hungry dragon type. However, it was when they discovered an encroaching swarm of purple that he had to take pause.

A huge Naganadel had descended upon downtown, attracted to the Imports that had been brought here just like they had. In its wake was several much smaller dragon-like insects. Poipoles. What gave Lance pause was the fact that he could hear them thinking. They were dragon types, or close enough at least. This must be the other Ultra Beast that Nanu had mentioned.

Commanding the Guzzlord to stay where it is and to NOT eat anything, Lance ran to where the insects were converging, preparing to fire off the poison from their stingers into the throng of people on the streets.

"STOP!"

The caped champion putting himself in the direct line of fire and holding up his hands to the swarm.

"They're fascinating creatures, aren't they," said a fairly familiar voice right after the tinkling of a set of chimes on a cafe door. Archer had come out here just for him. And really, seeing Lance seemed to have control over the gluttonous beast that had caused so many concern on the network was... Interesting.

Not as interesting as the possibility of causing frustration to the man, however.

Lance has had enough frustration recently. So when he glances over to see Archer, his expression is less than pleased. He turns his attention back to the Guzzlord though. A break in his concentration might cause the beast to go out of control again. The black behemoth battling it out against the spindly electric types.

"What do you want?"

"I merely came out here to start a conversation." He makes an open gesture with both of his hands. His glance goes to the Guzzlord. "How curious that you can control what others cannot."

“We all have powers here that others do not, and I’m not interested in explaining it or having a conversation with you.”

This all said as he stands there with his arms folded, watching the battle unfold. One of the Xurkitrees meeting its end as it’s gobbled up by the Guzzlord.

"Isn't that a shame." Archer chuckled. "I would never have expected you of all people to be willing to kill a pokemon. Ah, unless you want me to believe that you're just making an exception just this once."

Lance knew the guy was just trying to get his gogoat, and so didn’t react in the slightest.

“If you have a better idea, I’m listening.”

"How would you typically stop a rampaging pokemon?" He placed his hand near his face in that all-too-used pose of his. "Normally you are the first to suggest simply battling them until they're tired, no matter what damage they've done."

“They’re not Pokemon. Balls don’t work, and causing them to faint to either terrorize the masses again or be captured for government experimentation isn’t any better.”

His voice is mostly flat as he keeps his concentration on Guzzlord and keeping his emotions in check.

“Try again.”

That earned another low laugh. "Oh, you misunderstand. I'm not disagreeing with this choice. It's the fastest method to deal with the problem." He shot the creatures a glance. "How interesting that they aren't pokemon, yet you are capable of communing with one of them as if it were a being you would normally protect."

It didn't matter that he wasn't getting a rise out of Lance, not really. Merely making his day less pleasant was enough. Anything else, like causing him self-doubt? That would just be a bonus, even if he never learned about it.

“I didn’t misunderstand at all. I know you don’t disapprove, and I also know what you’re trying to do. What I meant was is you’re going to have to try harder to bother me.”

He glanced over at Archer.

“Which I don’t recommend by the way. My control over this beast is fragile and upsetting me in any way could cause it to turn on you and I might not get control back fast enough.”

"Is your concentration really so weak as that?" There was an edge of 'Unsurprising, but still disappointing' to his tone.

When he speaks again it's with something of a lazy drawl. "I would have assumed from your lineage that you would have managed some form of meditation to expand your abilities in such things. Though, perhaps a natural ineptitude in such matters is why you are not among your kin."

“Nice try, but even I’m not going to perfect a power I’ve never had before instantly.”

Lance is almost sounding bored at this point with Archer’s obvious and rather predictable ways of trying to insult and rile him.

Guzzlord bellows in anger and pain as the remaining Xurkitrees gang up on it and unleash their electricity together, causing Lance to wince. One of the beasts gets knocked away as the Guzzlord flails it’s arms. Causing the dragon master to duck as it slams against the building they’re standing in front of.

For all he wanted to continue his no-effort harassment, Archer was not going to be an idiot. He shields his head from rubble with one arm while he pulls out a pokeball. "Mastery and competence are far from the same thing, Lance. Do us both a favor and keep them away from misdreavus without letting them escape."

The pokemon was released, letting out a screech of glee and heading off towards the Xurkitree without even confirming it was the enemy. Archer frowned a moment, but allowed it to have its fun for the moment. "Perish Song!"

There was a huff from the pokemon, but it didn't dawdle before beginning to sing, the chilling melody seeming to make the air heavier especially near to it and the hopefully stunned ultrabeast.

“I will do my best, but I can’t control... those.”

He gestures at the fallen Xurkitree which seems to have fainted, for the moment at least. The insult going pointedly ignored. Archer could call him incompetent all he wants, it wouldn’t bother him. It would be more insulting to get praise from a Rocket.

“I wouldn’t bother fighting them if I could. Only that one will listen to me.”

That one being the Guzzlord, obviously. The big black beast happily gnawing on one of the Xurkitrees before gulping it down.

"Obviously. I was saying to use whatever you had at your disposal, not necessarily your powers to do so." He shook his head. "Have you lost all sense in how to understand others, or have you simply managed to fake having that skill all this time."

He motioned for Misdreavus to move on - the Perish Song not being particularly useful against an already fainted pokemon. "I need you to make sure that Misdreavus doesn't faint before it can complete Perish Song. I will warn you before the move is carried out so that you can get your..." He looked blandly at the Guzzlord a moment. "Companion out of the way of the attack."
