1. THE GENERAL OPTION; whenever

[ He's lost a couple of roommates - good, as far as he's concerned, they're kids, kids shouldn't be here - but that means he's a bit lost as to what he's doing here. Should he go back to crime? Should he go straight? He's been struggling with his job, and he doesn't really know anyone.

You can find him wandering Heropa, listless. You can find him on the beaches, entertaining children by turning into sand castles and the like. Or you can find him in a cafe, accepting a free drink. ]

Hey, whaddya know, maybe there's benefits to this imPort gig after all.

2. DON'T SAY THE ZED WORD; post October 10th

[ Look, Flint is no here and he doesn't want to be a hero. He dosn't want to be thought of as a hero. He had actually been thinking hey, maybe I should get back to work and had been scoping out a bank, on the edge of town where he hoped there'd be less capes around and whaddya know, there's zombies. Great. Fantastic. But they're about to attack someone and (he thinks) he can't get turned into one because what are they gonna do? Bite sand?

So he turns into his sand form, makes his fist into a giant hammer and just slams the zombie away like 20 feet into a wall. ]

Ha ha, you see that?!

3. A GARFAL WHAT SCHTICK?; post October 10th

[ Flint doesn't remember how he got on this weird game show, but it's making him nervous. He's been paired up with someone else to solve riddles of all things, and if they guess wrong they have to "tell an embarrassing secret". He hisses to his new partner - ]

I hope you're good at this kinda thing 'cause I don't get this at all.

[ While Flint is meandering about, a very familiar costumed hero swings by overhead. Why look, it's your ol' pal Spider-Man, just casually doing a patrol! He wasn't looking for anyone in particular, but he happens to spot Flint as he lands on this wall and decides to pause for a moment, looking down at him. ]

What flavor of smoothie you got there?

[ Or - whatever Flint has. He can't tell. ]

[ He knew Spider-Man was here, but there's a difference between knowing and him suddenly turning up and surprising him enough that Flint drops his smoothie, though with a very quick reaction time a third hand, made of sand, comes out of his stomach and catches the smoothie on the way down, splashing strawberry-banana on his sand.

He glares up at the webhead. ]

I didn't steal it or nothing, so get off my case!

[ ...Not that spidey said something along those lines, he's a bit jumpy. ]

[ Whoa, dude. He jumps down from his perch in the wall, hands up in surrender. ]

Who said anything about stealing? I’m sure that smoothie’s entirely legitimate.

[ He’s being sincere, but maybe it doesn’t quite come out that way. Masks are hard to emote through. ]

...Sure, whatever.

[ He eyes Spider-Man suspiciously as he transfers the smoothie from his sand-hand to his real hand, the former disappearing back into him. ]

Okay, so what do you want? Just -- just, harrassing me or what?

[ Peter waves a hand again. ]

Honestly? I’ve never met you before. Not in person anyway.

[manmeasand]

In person...? [ He's confused. He hasn't really talked to that many people since he's got here, even over the network, and most of those were kids or teens. No Spiders-men.

But thinking back to the network, something does click in his slow-moving brain. He finally notices the costume is different too. ]

Hang on, you one of them, what d'you call 'em, uh, alternate universe people?

[ Shit. He forgot that Spider-Man hasn’t talked to Flint at all yet. Time to improvise. ]

I saw your network post, yeah. Didn’t know what to say though.

[ Will that work? Hopefully. ]

You got it. I’m guessing you know a different Spider-Man.

[ That explanation sounds legit to him, luckily. It's not difficult to convince Flint of much. As for the other thing -

Dryly: ] Yeah, the one I know shoots webs first and makes dumb jokes after.

Hey, I’m full of dumb jokes. But you haven’t messed with me yet, so I’ll hold off on the webs.

Why would I mess with you if you haven't messed with me? [ He waves a hand dismissively. ] I only ever got a problem with you - I mean, with Spider-Man, I mean, you know -- me'n him only had a beef 'cause he started it.

[ all he ever did was some perfectly innocent, /checks notes/ robbery ]

I was just minding my own business, doing a job with my partner, and then he swings along as if it were any of his business and ruins the whole thing. [ He still sounds affronted by it, as if it were yesterday. ] And then he keeps doing it, and to add insult to injury, he can't help but mock us while he's doing it.

[ Peter likes Flint, he really does. But. ]

Is it possible you were - I dunno - partners in crime?

What, no - [ wait that would imply they're dating, which they weren't ] - I mean, yeah, but - - [ dummy don't admit THAT] I mean, shut up!

[ Wow, dude. That gets a little slow clap. ]

Points for being honest, I guess.

Fine, we were crooks. [ He crosses his arms. It's easier this way, anyway. ] So? Our Spidey's not a cop. Guessing you're not either. It's not your job. You guys chose to do whatever it is you think you're doing.

Well, no. Kinda the definition of a vigilante. Doing stuff the cops can't or won't do.

[ He rubs at the back of his neck. ]

Seriously, though, I'm not here to go after people for stuff they did back home? So, like, don't do crime here and I won't web you up.

[ Flint pauses. There's a part of him that wants to be defiant, or at least reassert his tough guy appearance. But his practical side wins out. ]

Picking fights for no reason is for chumps. Listen, I'm not gonna go put on a cape and play hero, but I'm not really feeling my usual line of work, if you get me. Got a real job, no rent to pay, and some cushy bonuses. [ He shakes the smoothie a little to emphasize.] I'm good.

[ There is an unsaid "for now" there, though.]

[ For now, eh. Yeah. Peter's ... sort of going to make that assumption now, given everything that happened with Mysterio. But on the flip side, if he can give Mysterio a second (and third) chance? Flint's definitely covered. ]

Then we're cool, man. On one condition.

[She tries her best to sound as amazed as she is, but Mizuki is emotionally drained, what with having to deal with various Ultra Beasts etc, panic attacks because oh Tapu, of all the things from her world, why this??!

She wants a break. She thought coming out here would, you know, be a break.

Not Zombies or being caught left-footed on the issue, opps.] We should check that it's um... taken care of?

[AKA Actually Dead? or at least not a threat for a very long time.]

[ He grins at her. ] Thanks.

[ But now he's fully aware there is a young girl here that probably shouldn't get eaten by zombies, and again, he's no hero but that doesn't mean he's about to let that happen. And she sounds so tired. ]

Yeah, hold on --

[ He extends an arm that shoots out a long line of sand which he uses to pincer grip the zombie and pull it back, up and away from Mizuki. ] Uh, doesn't seem to be moving. Hopefully there's not more of them --

[ There might definitely be more of them. ]

Hopefully. I-I'll check.

[She pulls off red-and-white ball and sends out one of her pokemon, who also looks tired. No-one on Mizuki's team has had a good time since the Ultra Beasts showed up and it shows. There's a small nod and the raichu surfs up into the sky to act as their eyes and ears.

Mizuki's face crumples a few seconds later.] Hoshii says there's more that way. Um...We should do something?

[Can they not be heroes? just for a day? please?]

[Look, Carter got back into town maybe five hours ago and he's real confused. Not that this is his first time going after zombies, but he's never sure what's 'normal' around here and what's high grade weirdness, and he just wanted to get some groceries.

He's weighing whether he wants to forsake his newly gotten produce and whip out his superpower when suddenly a giant sand hammer appears to make his problems go away.]

Yeah, boy! [He lets out a whoop of excitement, then frantically stumbles to make sure the pile of bags in his arms doesn't topple.] How'd you do that?

[ Flint likes that reaction, instantly endearing him to this stranger. He's a simple guy like that. ]

Oh, name's Sandman. I've got these sand powers going on, see?

[ And to prove his point he turns to sand, losing his colour for a moment, before turning back. ] Nice, huh?

[Carter too is a simple guy, and thus easily impressed by this sort of thing.]
