[Another pulse of relief when she doesn't take what he says as badly as he thought she might. It's not easy to be told in some manner that you're better off forgotten than remembered. But what she says leaves him silent for a few moments. Clearly he agrees, or he wouldn't be pursuing this with her, but it's different when you hear someone say it.
