WHO:Niko and Finn, Niko and Archer
WHERE: Base one w/Finn, De Chima w/Archer
WHEN: 16-30th, excluding current event.
WHAT: Niko and his emotions, sorry Finn. Niko and Archer and a pokebattle.
WARNINGS:... Mentions of pokemon abuse for sure.
Finn; Base One
[If it's one thing Nikolai is ridiculously good at, besides his own ego, it's anger. He practically runs on it more days than not and dealing with his death is no different. Or, it should be, but it's not. There's anger, yes. Both with his pokemon who seem to think he needs to be coddled of all things; with Archer- it is not his fault he died, no matter what the other man says. But, there's also guilt and confusion and even something akin to happiness(?!) that people actually maybe might possibly care for him without strings, which is alien and can't be true. Never mind the sort of family he's managed to claw out here, or the friends he has.
It's weird. It's confusing.
Nikolai doesn't like it and that has led him to slip back into old habits, like blaming his pokemon or taking his anger out on them verbally because it's easy. Familiar.
But above all, he's angry at himself because he's weak if he's having these thoughts.
Without thinking, his fist slams against one of the outer walls of the Base and his foot lashes out, thankfully missing the sneasel with him. He feels a little better, but not really.]
.... Tch. At least you moved-!
[Zuzu didn't, of course; he'd been out of range given Nikolai's mood has had all his pokemon on High Alert. They like him, yet they know what he's like.]
Archer: Battle
[This time Nikolai'd changed it up and set the battle to a park in De Chima, dressed in jeans and silver-stripped shirt, jacket tied around his waist and hair pulled back in a messy ponytail. He was still angry with the man -furious in a way he hadn't felt since that first, fateful battle with Lance- but a battle was a battle; it was also a chance to maybe take his aggression out on the Rocket in an 'acceptable' way.
That it'd train up his pokemon, maybe even get them up a level or three was a plus. So was the fact Archer couldn't claim Niko was shirking coerced agreements. He wanted to. The man had shot Archie for one (and Nikolai would forever hold that against the man) and then dared try and blame him for his own death, which had not been his fault, full stop and end of story. But, however angry he was, revenge would have to wait, if it came at all.
No, it would, but now was not the time to think about grudges or revenge. Not when he had a battle to plan -to win. Plus, it wouldn't do to be a mood when Archer finally showed up. Which, when the man does-
Niko pushes himself away from the tree he'd been leaning against with cocky smirk and all the arrogance of a teenager who thinks the world revolves around him.]
Hmph. Finally. Ready to lose?

Hmph. Finally. Ready to lose?

The anger was only getting worse, too.
Finn already found himself on Niko's doorstep when he heard a few thumps from inside the unit. He frowned heavily and knocked. The Pokémon themselves felt worried and scared but he was pretty sure none of them was hurt... right now. ]

Reasons he liked living alone: not being bothered because it's only him.
Reasons he actually like living with people:... they give a shit about him.
A rake of his hair with a small huff as he tries to settle his outward mood into something more personable, if not annoyed at being interrupted. He'd try and go for I just woke up, but given he let Mutt out earlier, he doesn't think that would work.
So he settles on annoyed if not disgruntled when he opens the door.]
What? I'm busy.
no subject
Yeah, I know. [ Not sorry. ] If you wanted to talk to... or talk at someone who might get it, I'm here. If you want to take your mind off it, I can provide that, too. How much hand-to-hand combat do you know?
[ Listen, this plan was thought up right on this doorstep, okay. ]
no subject
Right up until there's the offer of a spar, and he literally brightens and not in a good way. Plus, his sneasel is very much pleased that someone else is offering to be the punching bag Nikolai so badly needs.]
I know enough street fighting that it'd count. What, you think you can take me on?
[Time to get your butt kicked, Niko.]
no subject
If you're up for sparring, I'd love to see how good you are. I might be rusty, though. Haven't trained like that since I got here. [ And that one's said with a little smile, happy about Niko's uplifted mood. ]
no subject
[There's a crack of knuckles and a wicked, nasty grin that suggests Niko is anything but a fair fighter. But, Fin now does have his attention wholly and solely on what is about to happen.]
Hmph. So, where do we have this spar and are we playing with powers or not? Obviously not with pokemon though.
[AKA how dirty does he get to fight?]
no subject
[ He nods off in a direction and starts walking away from the units and closer to the orchard. You following, bro? ]
no subject
[Don't mind him; he's far too cocky and self-assured for his own good as he follows Finn with a bit of a swagger.
Finn will note though, that Zuzu is far more relaxed as Nikolai departs.]
no subject
He stops in the clearing he indicated, turning around to face his opponent. Finn rolls his shoulders and stretches a little before loosening his limbs up. ]
Okay. Show me your stance and come at me when you're ready.
sorry for being so slow on this. :(
That said, he only does the bare minimum of stretching before he drops into something that really does bring home how much of a young thug Nikolai could very easily turn into. Still is, really.] You asked for it.
[Not that he waits more than a few seconds. With a flash of a nasty grin, the redhead charges Finn with the aim of seemingly punching him square in the nose. Though, he does fight dirty; should that miss, Niko's not above a low, sweeping kick to try and knock the ex-stormtrooper off his feet.]
ive been so slow too, it's okay lol
Honestly, he's just happy that Niko's only idea of fighting isn't 'punch punch punch.' He's got a strategy in mind, and that shows some promise.
Finn doesn't attack back or try to block. He just wants to see what Niko's got up his sleeve, so he's more prone to dodging right now. ]
no subject
He looked to Niko and gave a very charismatic smile. ]
I'm ready to battle, though who will win and who will lose is yet to be decided.
no subject
He doesn't think he'll lose, not to Archer and he knows he'll need to reign his emotions in. It's something he's starting to get batter at, but this... Tch. This is a Rocket; one who helped raise him. He's got this in the bag, yet at the same time, Niko remembers the battle with Archie, and how the man'd snatched victory on the eleventh hour.
He won't let that happen with Archer.
A pokeball's unhooked and Niko tosses it in the air a few times with a smirk.]
Yeah, yeah, whatever you say. Ready?
[He doesn't even bother waiting for the answer. He simply tosses the ball onto the field, sending forth his feraligatr.]
no subject
You know. I've always wondered why you chose that specific pokemon to take.
Confuse Ray.
[ He went from addressing Nikolai to addressing Golbat without missing a beat. ]
no subject
[It's said with a shrug. In truth, it was because it looked powerful and strong, perfect for a trainer like him. Also, because he could.
He doesn't even react to the fact his pokemon is confused, nor does he recall it.]
Screech.
[The order's cold and Oda is moving to obey even before it's finished, but thanks to the confusion, all the crocodilian ends up doing is hurting itself as it stumbles, swaying a little.] Hmph.
no subject
[ The golbat moved to gain a little air, then flew straight horizontally at the gatr. ]
Really? And here I had thought it was so that you might have a type advantage over both your father and myself.
[ He said this with a annoying nonchalance. ]
no subject
[Again, there's no reaction as his pokemon's hit with the attack. Seeming
ly, that is. Because as soon as the golbat's close enough? powerful jaws snap shut on a wing. It's no Bite, and it's almost as if Niko's trained hie pokemon to deal with confusion.
He has, of course, and it's always nice to see them remember the training.
That said, there's no command, outside a click of fingers and soft tut, that signals the Slash.]
no subject
[ Golbat struggled, fighting until it could get away from the blue beast and get a little more air. ] Nonverbal commands as well.
I wonder who has the stronger jaws.
[ Archer made a hand motion of his own and golbat swiftly charged the larger pokemon, ready to Bite it. ]
