WHAT: Family Dinner: The Return. After a long hiatus, it has returned. If you are a friend of any of the residents, assume you're invited to eat!

[ The last time there was a dinner in this house, there were different stresses, slightly different residents, and no one had died yet. Perhaps you can't blame anyone for not planning another group meal soon after that.

Since then, though, things have been...mostly quiet. Comparatively. Yes, the world is still a shitshow (in Cassandra's own opinion), but the residents of the house are back into a fairly domestic routine, and any threats to reality are ambiguous enough that one can occasionally pretend they're on the periphery rather than clearly encroaching. So friends are finally being invited to Maurtia Falls #004 again, in the hopes that performing normalcy will allow it to be retained.

Or...something like that. There's also something nice about ordering a bunch of takeout and letting other people bring over food.

For any new guests, the building is the epitome of cleanliness- Rex lives here, after all- and nondescript to the point of it being a little surreal. Plenty of alcohol in the fridge, though, and a mysterious cupboard marked "Martin's Things." Maybe don't open it. Besides that, the only other thing to call out is a goldfish in a tank in the living room.

In any case, even if the building is a little boring, the people don't seem to be that way. Then again, maybe boring's what you're here for? Better than chaotic around here. ]

[For just the briefest of moments, he grins. Sharp and ruthless, like he's got a thousand and one retorts on his lips, ready to verbally castigate just because he can. But, even though this is the kind of kid he'd beat up, wedgie, and then make fun of when they cried just for added measures, he doesn't.

Purely because he doesn't want to get into trouble with Cassandra, who'd probably then tell Archie, and Niko doesn't fancy another grounding thank you very much.

Nor does he make a move to follow, if only so he can appear relatively innocent in case the wimp bolts. Not his fault if the kid spooked easy when he was being himself, after all.]

Aww, whatever. So you lived in a stupid cave and you though it bad. Boo hoo; I've likely been in worse. What's Cass teaching you?

[every answer...is bad, isn't it? it must be, if nothing Martin says does much to appease this person. his eyes flicker around for sign of some form of help before looking back at Niko worriedly. the fast jump of topics halts him for a minute, but he tries to be quick to reply.]

Um, things like...grammar. When writing and reading. How to write on the phones, es-especially. It's not something I knew before, so...

Tch. That's all good and right, but what about the other stuff? The cooler stuff? Like how to climb a fence without much sound.

[He snorts.] Unless you're that sheltered or something.

what else can you do? is a pretty broad question, isn't it? and while his knee-jerk is nothing, when it comes to mention of school, learning...]

Well, I...I was trained to hunt. Fight monsters. [self-consciously, he looks away, rubbing at his elbow.] So, so no schools. Just training and chores.
