WHO: Loki, Obi-Wan Kenobi
WHERE: some bar in Nonah
WHEN: September 18th
WHAT: An Asgardian walks into a bar - And finds himself a drinking buddy.
WARNINGS: There will be alcohol involved.
Almost a week has passed since his arrival in this world and a lot of the time between that, the swear-in and today has been used by Loki to gain some familiarity with Nonah, at the very least. Eventually he will spread out to the other cities and once he has more of an idea of each of them he will decide which one to find a more acceptable place to stay in. Until then, the place he has been assigned to will have to suffice.
Nonah, at the very least, has proven to be friendly enough. Just wandering about is perfectly possible as long as he is willing to stop every once in a while for a question, picture or even autograph. And why shouldn't he indulge these mortals while he explores?
Loki decides to finish his exploration by entering a bar he has just freshly discovered. He pays little mind to the patrons already present and minding their drinks and finds himself a place right next to a human male seated at the bar.
"Just give me something strong." The Asgardian informed the bartender and then added more to himself "Preferably something not looking like the Bifrost this time."

In less than a decade Asgard will be destroyed. This much has now been confirmed. But he’s still missing the important parts. All he can do is assume.
When Obi-Wan’s words make it through the jungle of Loki’s thoughts, he grimaced briefly, then forces a thin smile and shakes his head.
“Nothing is alright.” He says. It’s more of an automatic response than a conscious one “Ragnarök may as well be at hand.”
no subject
“I don’t know what that means,” he admits. “But I can take a guess.”
From Loki’s grim tone he can only assume it’s some sort of catastrophy. Just using a word that he’s never heard of before. Translators can’t give him definitions.
“Whatever my memories have revealed to you, I’m sorry it wasn’t better news.”
Obi-Wan certainly knows disasters of epic proportions after all. Though he’s a bit baffled on what could possibly be wrong from his memory of a jolly giant of a man who likes video games and axes.

A week ago, Asgard still existed.
In less than a decade, it will be gone. Can he blame Thor for it if this will be the result of Ragnarök? Should he blame himself?
“Ragnarök... Is the prophesied end of our realm. Of Asgard.” Loki replies, Still in a bit of a daze that he slowly breaks out of enough to call the bartender over, requesting an even stronger drink - And a bottle of whatever classifies as a good wine.
“Someone else hinted at it happening when I first arrived.” He finally addresses Obi-Wan properly again, even if he still looks fairly distant “I did not believe it. Your memory proves it. Without doubt, you met my brother. And he has changed drastically.”

"I see," he says at last.
The Jedi definitely feels for the Asgardian. This can't possibly be easy to process. He's known that feeling here as well, when he learned that Luke's attempt to revive the Jedi Order had failed.
"Losing your home is one of the most devastating things you can know."
He knew all about that as well.
"I'm sorry."
no subject
"Don't. I don't need your pity." He says, the words sounding harsher than necessary. This isn't a position he is used to be in, nor one he feels comfortable to be in. Comfort and compassion don't have much of a place in Asgardian culture. Admitting to be in need of them even less.
What has a place, however, is to celebrate the fallen.
So when a moment later Loki's new drink and the ordered wine is placed before him he wastes no time to open the bottle and fill the two empty glasses and push one of them over to the Jedi and raising his own glass.
"Tonight, we drink for Asgard." The Asgardian declares, summoning his armor, green cape and horned, golden helmet onto his person without hesitation. Obi-Wan may have to put up with some Asgardian culture for the time being.
And Loki can go back to feeling miserable and frustrated when he is by himself again.

He watches though as the Asgardian poured the wine and passed him a glass. A melancholy smile coming to his face as he raised it.
"To Asgard," he declared in turn. He may not know the place or the people, but for tonight, he will certainly participate in the celebration of those gone. Though he tries not to look too surprised when Loki's outfit suddenly changes and become more... flamboyant.

What he tries not to think about right there and then is his own potential survival of the event - Or that of his adoptive family. He shouldn't be concerned with them to begin with.
His glass is nearly empty when the Asgardian sets it down and takes a few moments to plain stare into space, frowning.
"With Asgard gone, the remaining eight realms will fall into chaos." he muses aloud. Which one will try and conquer the others?
no subject
"So Asgard has kept the peace between the other realms?"
That's the assumption he makes from that statement. If that's true, he can relate a bit, as the Jedi held a similar place in their galaxy.
no subject
"That was the case. I cannot fathom what will happen no, only assume that more wars will break loose." And shouldn't he rejoice at that thought, considering how many wars he himself has sewn in the past? No. This still feels different.
He glances over to Obi-Wan, letting the fingers of his hand rest against his glass.
"You wield a curious weapon. Nothing even I am familiar with. May I ask its name?" He is, of course, referring to the Jedi's lightsaber he has seen in the man's memories.
no subject
So many innocent people ended up being harmed because others couldn't get along. It was never a good thing. He had seen such things first hand.
Loki's next question though didn't much surprise him. Considering his memories of Thor involved the weapon, it made sense.
"It's called a lightsaber. The weapon of a Jedi."
Or a Sith, but he's not going to get into that.
no subject
"My kind is not easily harmed by most weapons, but I fear I must be wary of yours."
He takes a moment to empty his glass and refill it.
"Going by your words, you are a Jedi? Your kind must be warriors, not unlike the people of Asgard." - Only a lot less flashy and obvious in appearance.
no subject
He didn't know how an axe forged by a star would fare against his weapon, but he figured it might be best not to find out. If Thor's weapon is that way, he can only assume Loki's is as well.
There was the hint of a smile as he then asked of the Jedi.
"Of a sort. A Jedi only raises their weapon if there is no other alternative. We were the defenders of peace and justice in our galaxy."
no subject
"Protecting an entire galaxy is no easy task. We merely watched over nine realms and those could be a handful."
He considers the description of the Jedi's weapon for a moment as well. A crystal powering a hilt-shaped device. Not something he has seen before, but the information are not something he will dismiss.
"Maybe, at a later meeting, not today, you can explain your weapon to me in further detail. I do not seek to fight you, like my brother. But I wish to be prepared should I find myself faced with one of them. And whether or not my magic offers any defense."
no subject
"No, it is not. Especially since there were only about ten thousand of us. We were spread rather thin."
Coming to meet people who were not dissimilar to his own is certainly a welcome change. Most tended to balk at the idea of the Jedi and what they stood for, simply because it was different from their way of life.
"Certainly, I would be happy to. I hope you might share how your magic works as well. I'm quite curious."
no subject
Though aside from the man's weapon, the Asgardian can't help but find interest in those Jedi as well.
"Ten thousand is barely enough for an army. How did you manage to protect an entire galaxy? Even with those impressive weapons at your disposal I imagine that to be near impossible."
no subject
"You would be surprised what one Jedi can accomplish," he said with a hint of pride in his voice.
"More often than not we are mediators, but in times of conflict, some have said one Jedi is worth a thousand battle droids."
no subject
“So you not only wield a powerful weapon, but are also masters of the spoken word and negotiations.” He sounds impressed. But also a little surprised at Obi-Wan’s final words.
“Is it common in your galaxy to let robots fight your battles?”
no subject
"For the Separatists it was. My galaxy enjoyed peace for a thousand years until the Clone Wars. We Jedi fought for our Republic and the Separatists used droids as their soldiers."
no subject
"Clone Wars?" A strange name for a war.
"And with only so few of yours available you fought an automated army?" Loki inquires, pushing the refilled glass back to the Jedi.
"Were you victorious?"
no subject
There’s a grim tone to his voice and his expression. As if there is a regret weighing on his shoulders. So he took the refilled glass and downed some more of the wine. The alcohol effectively loosening his tongue.
“It felt right at the time, but it was a conflict we never should have been involved in. In the end, we were betrayed. My people slaughtered by the very troops they commanded and the Republic we defended.”
no subject
Intriguing tale, even if he is sure to be missing a lot of the details. He has caused wars on much smaller scales simply for the fun of messing with other people when he was bored on occasion. Engineering betrayal has often added some additional spice, yet Loki never stuck around long enough to witness the aftermath. - or deal with the betrayed.
"So you lost." He answers his own question "What happened to your galaxy, without your kind to look after it?"
no subject
"Our Republic was turned into an Empire. Our Chancellor became its Emperor, who will rule by instilling fear. From what I hear, there will be a rebellion which will eventually overthrow it. Though without the Jedi, I fear that there will never be balance and the cycle will continue with more wars."
no subject
"Looks like our realms share a similarly unruly and unsure future." Which at the very least earns the Asgardian's interest. He raises a brow.
"We might need a second bottle."
no subject
"This one is on me," he tells his newly found drinking buddy when a second bottle of wine is placed before them.
