She hums a little thoughtfully. "There's got to be a way to control that, then," she says confidently. "If it's only sticky sometimes and not others, then you just have to pay more attention to when it's sticky and when it's not. That way, you can make conscious choices," she adds helpfully. If she had any idea that he's already well controlled and it's just a story, she'd feel a little silly for being kind of preachy.

"Back home, my friends and I all got turned into mermaids," she explains with a little shrug. "Mermaids can control water in its different forms, and each of us had an ability. I could make water boil or steam off. One of my other friends could turn it to ice. Another could manipulate it in its liquid form, and my last mermaid friend could turn it into like a jelly substance. Or into glass, actually," she finished. It felt weirdly liberating to be as open about it as that. Granted, she hadn't outed any of her friends and she wouldn't because she didn't know if they'd end up here and whether they'd want to be the ones to tell, but after showing Ben the two abilities she'd gotten down this morning, she's been emboldened. It actually feels like a weight off her chest to be able to talk about it and not worry that Peter's going to call the nearest science lab and turn her in so some scientists can dissect her and study the pieces or something awful.

Rikki reaches for her mobile and smirks at that last comment. "Am I?" she asks, looking down at the device. She closes out what he's done and tries pulling it up on her own. When she's successful, she looks proud of herself. "I'd ask you to show me those, too, only I've probably asked enough of you when we've only just met and you're just trying to enjoy the joust," she adds apologetically. "Thanks a lot for showing me. That'll come in useful."
