"I do," David answers, and that is the thing. He stops and halts Peter with a hand on his shoulder. "I get it. Because growing up I was like you. Except I didn't have the courage, the strength to try and help others. I know what it was like to try and keep strong, but be alone. And when I found people to help? It was good."

And he trusted the wrong people. But he hopes to keep Peter away from that.
