- [ Because it's not often anymore that Gil takes the time to come down to Heropa, or any part of Florida, to do his shopping outside of the local fish markets, it takes him some time to find Hajime's place of work. He hadn't specified a time when they had spoken and he immediately regrets that, hoping the young girl isn't getting impatient waiting for him to arrive.
By the time he reaches the shop, his neck and forehead is slick with sweat, face a little red from being under the sun longer than he wanted to be. Once he's ducked into the shop, he reaches into his pocket for a handkerchief to dab himself with quickly. Gross. He doesn't miss this sticky, thick humidity up in Maurtia Falls.
He lifts his gaze, looking around the colourful shop for the girl he had spoken to earlier in the week. ]
Hello?

it takes Hajime a couple of seconds to notice Gil enter the shop. she's currently struggling with placing a set of fabric on a higher shelf that she can't reach because why do high shelves exists alongside short people?? once she does spot him though, she smiles happily. ]
Welcome!
you know literally a minute after i posted this i discovered canonly he knits scarves
[ Does she prefer to by that? Or "Ms."? Or no particular title at all? She does appear to be quite young ― younger than Ada anyway. He knows a lot of women of this era are fussy about these titles, but it's still a habit of this a little more than two years away from his own universe. ]
Do you need help?
[ He may have entered as a customer, but he's got almost a whole foot on her and she seems to be having trouble reaching. ]
now he can canonly knit socks
Yes, please!
[ she doesn't really seem to mind the title. normally, she may be more fussy about it, but considering no one is even willing to call her 'Hajime' when she keeps telling them it's okay, she'd take the miss. ]
you win this one hajime
This shelf here?
[ He points a long finger at the space, looking back at her curiously. ]
adorable girl - 1; old guy - 0
That one!
[ thankfully, it's the last one that needs to be put away. ]
hdu he's only like 122 in reality
Once that's done, he looks back at her, albeit a touch sheepish now. ]
Since we last spoke, I've been reconsidering what you said about yarn. I don't know how Florida's autumns and winters are, but with autumn rapidly approaching in Maurtia Falls I thought maybe I could knit scarves.
what a geezer
[ she seems to start heading in the direction of the yarn, but then she suddenly stops. ]
What do you want to look at first?
no subject
The needles first. Yarn you can't exactly pick up any kind...
[ Gil can be oddly meticulous about trivial things. Like yarn. ]
no subject
Here's the selection. We can also put in an order if something you want isn't in the store.
no subject
[ And he's cheap. ]
I wonder how much I should pick up while I'm here. Winter is some time off, but it takes time to knit these things. If you make a mistake you have to start over and it's a waste of yarn...
no subject
Um... how long do you like your scarves? [ she spreads her arms out. ]
That might affect how much you need too.
no subject
[ If they do, he's going to feel silly coming all this way when he could have walked without nearly baking in the sun and having the ends of his hair curl against the humidity. (He's very sensitive about his hair.) ]
It's important to double wrap in the winter, so long, but not too long. It also depends on the height of the person.
no subject
[ she gives him a glance, like she's trying to figure out how tall he is without asking. then she shrugs. ]
Maybe you should get some extra anyway, in case you want to make matching mittens.
no subject
[ He stills for a moment, eyes widening a touch. ]
Mittens? I hadn't thought of that at all. I wonder if it gets that cold in Maurtia Falls? Extra would be good...
[ Gil's gaze lifts so he can take a look around for wherever the needles are placed. ]
Is that what you do?
no subject
[ she picks out a pair of needles. ]
I got these recently. They're really nice, and they come in different colors...
no subject
[ He shakes his head. Kenzi was a police dispatch. It was... definitely left field.
He examines the needles, then offers his hand so he can get a feel of how sturdy they are. ]
How many come in a set usually?
no subject
[ she picks up one pack, which has six needles. and then another which only has two. she holds them both out. ]
It all varies. The pack with two is kind of pricey, but these needles are super good. So, I guess it depends if you prefer quantity or quality?
no subject
[ If they're having a sale, he's saving some money at least. He points to the pack of two. ]
This will be fine.
Where do you keep the yarn? Black yarn... and maybe some blue. I don't need any other colours.
no subject
no, okay, she just smiles and starts walking. ]
Follow me, follow me!
no subject
His wardrobe only consists of whites, blacks, and dark blues. Occasionally there's shades of grey in there.
He follows Hajime as ordered, eyes wandering about, examining the different shelves in the case some other products catch his eye. ]
You said back home you worked in a similar shop?
no subject
it'll be fun. ]
Uh huh, it's a part-time job. My other job is being a Gatchaman! ... I guess I'm continuing that one here, too, because of the whole superhero thing they have going.
no subject
Gil stares at her oddly, as if Hajime's spoken to him in some foreign language. She may as well since he's trying to figure out what a "gatcha man" is. ]
Ga...cha-man?
no subject
[ she repeats, as if it will make any more sense the second time around.
it never does. ]
I transform and go snip, snip, snip at bad guys!
[ that doesn't explain anything. ]
no subject
Pardon?
[ That's not a response that's just random noises. ]
no subject
[ gestures wildly as if she's trying to illustrate what she's saying. ]
