WHO: bodhi rook, poe dameron, luke skywalker
WHERE: a bar, de chima
WHEN: backdated to 7/7
WHAT: two losers celebrate an anniversary, it does not go as planned
WARNINGS: alcohol, talk of things relevant to star wars (death, planetary destruction) and a drunk handsy boyfriend
[ If you asked Bodhi, he'd say it sometimes felt like longer than two years, but other times - like it hadn't been that long. But the day rang true, as of today both he and Poe had been on Earth for two years.
A bittersweet anniversary, it meant that they'd both outstayed countless friends, some of which who went back to nothing -- the same nothing that would await Bodhi when he returned home. But for him, it'd also meant two years of an opportunity which meant, well... being alive. It's hard not to think of that, and on most days it's scarcely a thought or worry. But today it was definitely weighing on his mind.
So naturally, he and Poe decided to do what anyone would do on a day like this. Let the day go with as little fanfare as possible, and find a bar, get good and drunk.
That's of course what they're doing, as Bodhi follows Poe deeper into the dimly lit and mostly uncrowded bar. ]

Two years.
[ Cheers. ]
no subject
And to who knows how many more.
[ Bodhi takes a pull from the glass then winces, because they hadn't chose the bar with the best drinks in the neighborhood but whatever, it'll get the job done, he hopes. ]
no subject
[ He smiles but it's thin. He hopes it more for Bodhi than himself, but he's not about to say that.
He doesn't make a face at all - bad beer being something he's now more than used to, and he drinks half his glass in one pull, before wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. ]
Well, this is truly awful stuff.
no subject
Guess that's what we get for picking something so off the map, but as long as it serves it's purpose... [ he shrugs ]
no subject
Yeah, sorry. Just didn't really feel like fielding the paparazzi tonight, if you know what I mean.
no subject
[ Given how the rest of Rogue One had come and gone, on more than one occasion in some cases. He'd outstayed them, and - shit. He polishes off the rest of his glass quickly. ]
Fair enough. I don't want to deal with any of them tonight, as well.
no subject
Yeah. Tonight is for getting drunker than a hutt at a coming of age party.
no subject
Never been to a hutt coming of age party, but I'll take your word for it entailing that.
no subject
[ He takes another long drink, then sighs as he sets his glass back down.
There's a long pause as he chews on his own thoughts, before: ]
... I'm glad you're still here, buddy.
no subject
[ It's only just been about three years now. This is the first time he's thought to do this without Han around. It's fine. ]
[ He was about a sip away from edging into tipsy territory, when he... thought he heard a familiar voice? There was no way, though; Poe and Bodhi were better than to come to a place like this. But he kept hearing it, and he finally scanned around the bar, spotting them a bit down the way, and wondering how he could have missed them. ]
[ ...well, he knew how he could have missed them, but he didn't want to think about that right now. ]
[ He got to his feet, making sure his balance was good, before heading over to the two of them. He reached out first, gently resting a hand on Bodhi's shoulder, favoring the two of them with a smile. ]
I thought I heard the two of you here.
no subject
You know I'm happy you're -- Luke?
[... by Luke. Bodhi's brow furrows as he looks over from the seemingly nearly smashed Jedi as he wanders up to the table to just where they are. A seedy bar in De Chima, getting smashed themselves. Not really a place he'd expect to run into his boyfriend. He shoots Poe a confused look, no he had no idea that Luke was here, he hadn't seen him when he walked in. ]
What are you doing here?
no subject
He's careful to keep his expression neutral, but he can't help but feel his chest fall, a little. He'd been hoping to have a quiet night with his friend. But he can't exactly turn Luke Skywalker of all people away. ]
Hey, buddy. Didn't know you were here. You ah - you want to join us?
no subject
If I'm not intruding. I don't mind going back to my seat if you two would rather be alone.
no subject
Well, he had offered. ]
No, no. Come on and have a seat. I'll order another pitcher for the three of us --
[ He's waving down the bartender, scooting slightly to let Luke sit down beside him. ]
no subject
[ The bartender comes over, gives them another pitcher and a glass, and Poe pours one for Luke.
Then he holds it up. ]
Two years on Earth.
no subject
Three. I think; leaving for a year and coming back a day later messed up my sense of time.
[ He smiled sadly, downing at least half of the glass, before continuing. ]
Han would bring me here every time something big happened. Though it usually turned into him attempting to drink me under the table.
no subject
He'd not known Han that well, but he near wishes he had. ]
That does sound like something he'd do. [ He raises his glass, looking between the other men. ] To friends, both here and there.
no subject
Friends.
[ But his expression breaks for half a second, a twitch of a smile on his lips before he adds: ]
And Han's absolute wreck of a car.
no subject
Don't remind me. I inherited that piece of junk.
no subject
One of the first impressions I had of Earth, that was. I can still smell the stale french fries under the seats...
no subject
[ He takes his next round, looking down into it but not drinking it yet. ]
Hope I get a chance to see him again, one of these days.
no subject
After some of the things I found left over in it, I'm pretty sure that wasn't stale french fries...
[ Poe's words brings him back to an almost sullen silence. It was hard to deal with; being without Han was like he was captured by Jabba all over again. Being without him was hard, tantamount to what it would feel like if his sister ever left. ]
[ And what was worse, was Poe probably wouldn't see him unless he appeared here. ]
...I miss him.
no subject
[ Some things were better off unknown. What lingered under the seats of Han Solo's vehicle was probably one of those things. His gaze shifted from Poe, and back to Luke. Like with Poe, he'd not get to see Solo again unless he were to come back.
Which he could. But he might not. Or he'd arrive long after the three of them were gone.
The reassurance that he might return, that lingered in his mouth would be hollow and the other two would know it. Swallowing the words, he reached across to take Luke's hand (he does not want to overstep with Poe). ]
Yeah. So do I.
no subject
We'll see him.
[ He says it less because he believes it and more because he can't stand the lack of hope. ]
I've got a hunch.
no subject
I'll never deny the power of someone's hunch.
