IMPORT CHARITY BALL

[ The event is held in a re-modeled, warehouse. For those willing to dress up, dust off their best semi-formal attire, there are plenty of seats and plenty of room for hungry stomaches and thirsty participants. Imports, registered or not, are welcomed in. Civilians are also in attendance to poke and prod, politely one would hope, at any and all that are there.

Hank, of course, will be there to do a quick presentation on the building. He will go through the idea, the phases of construction, the benefits and why this is a good step in the right direction. The money raised here will go to the operational costs of the building and so on and so forth. Everyone will either stop listening to him or look up from their comms and be thankful he's done. Any questions and complaints, cheers or jeers, he'll be around to smooth things out. ]

It's a party and I'm me. Of course I'll be here.

[ He led Winry to the dance floor, pulling her into a close dance, still smiling. ] We've really got to meet at someplace other than parties every once in a while.

I suppose it says something about both of us that we only see each other at parties. [Winry moves along with him, grinning.]

What have you been doing since I saw you last?

Work, mostly. Teaching the youth of Heropa how to be good people, things like that.

[Winry's smile falters for a second.] I'm glad you weren't in Colorado.

[ aaaand then Dorian winces. Ah. She was there, wasn't she. ] I'm so sorry you had to go through that.

Me, too. [She glances away from Dorian, to give them both a chance to pull it together.]

But I came back okay!

[Mostly.]

That's good, I suppose. Of course, the fact that you had to go through that in the first place is just as terrible.

It wasn't a very good time. But I found out a little more about how my powers work.

[Always look on the bright side?]

Well you can't say something like that and then not tell me more.

Oh! Um. If I touch something metal, or something with metal in it, I can make the metal do whatever I want. We were being attacked by these tiny...robots. And I touched the form they'd made themselves into, and melted the metal inside of them!

[She might be proud of that.]

And I can heal people, but the worse the injury, or the more injuries there are, the more it...saps me.

[The music, fortunately, is slow enough they can dance and not run into anyone.]

You can heal people, I can heal myself...we're two sides of the same coin. [ Not...entirely. But it sounds really good so Dorian's sticking with that. ]

But manipulating metal? I can honestly say I've never seen something like it before. Maybe later you should show me what you can do? [ There's more than a hint of innuendo in those words, as Dorian looks over towards Winry, smirking slightly. ]

Really? Does it...hurt? [Because it does hurt Winry to heal someone else.

I'll show you if you want!

[And Winry may be completely oblivious to the flirting. Or just ignoring you, Dorian, take your pick.]

It hurts when I'm in pain, but it doesn't hurt to heal. [ And...he notices how oblivious she is. Great. ]

But I'd love it if you showed me.

I wonder if it's because I'm taking on someone else's pain. [Her expression turns thoughtful for a few seconds, then clears. Something to think about later.]

I'd be happy to show you! [Yes, and she has no clue how that might sound, either.]

After we finish dancing, of course. [ And he pulled her into another dane, smile still on his face. ]

Of course!

[She laughs and lets him swing her around the floor.]

[ Wheeeee they're dancing. As the music ends, Dorian fixes Winry with a grin. ]

Want to go another round?

Yes, I'd love to!

[And the band's still playing music she can dance to, at least.]

[ And so they continue dancing! ]

Be ready: I'm going to spin you.

[ and oh look, he does. ]

[Winry laughs, her hair flying around as Dorian spins her. She comes back to him when he tugs.]

I really like dancing with you, Dorian!

I'm just that good? [ he teases with a little smirk. ] But I really like dancing with you also, Winry. I've got to say, you're one of the more fun partners I've had in a while.

[As the music ends, Winry steps back from Dorian to perform a curtsey.]

Thank you.

[She might be blushing some.]

[ He bowed, a grandiose bow of his own. And you bet he's noticing Winry's blush. ]

You're welcome. But thank you as well. That was grand.

[Her color heightens.]

Ah. Thanks! But we do need to meet sometime when it's not just a party, like you said.

Here, if I can find a pen I'll give you my number. Maybe we can plan out sometime to hang out? Just the two of us?
