( she'd said it before -- sabrina was many things but she wasn't a murderer. well... aside from that one time where she knew agatha wouldn't stay dead. but intentionally she was good at heart )
Is there somewhere we can sit? I'll make us some tea.
[ A wave of relief washes her over. Sabrina takes a moment to breathe in deeply, shutting her eyes as she exhales loudly from her mouth, shoulders slacking. ]
In the kitchen. [ She gestures to the door then, heading toward it properly this time to open it. ] I don't think anyone is home right now, but don't worry; Magnus is kind, he won't panic about seeing a stranger in the house.
( she'll agree with that, finding it strange being here though she suspects that sabrina means that it's weird having someone here after being alone for so long.
she doesn't wait once they're in the kitchen, looking through the cupboards for both tea bags and cups, filling the kettle before starting it to boil )
I'll do whatever I can to help, Sabrina. You have my word.
[ She can't fathom how Lilith is so calm in the face of all this. It's a foreign new world where their powers can't seem to take on Lachesis (or even Atropos, apparently). They can't open portals, they can't astral project anywhere or conjure anything for help.
Sabrina is still somewhat panicked over these aspects, so how is Lilith able to remain poised and calm? ]
( lilith sighs, not saying anything more until she's handed sabrina one of the cups of tea, sitting across from her )
It's-- ( she pauses, searching for the words ) It's easier to focus on you. Making certain that you're safe stops me from having to think about this situation.
( because it was weird. more than that if you were someone less experienced with weird things )
( no matter which city this is there's bound to be a bookstore which is where lilith finds herself. she looks for information, texts that may give accounts of things that are kept hidden, histories that may hold curious truths. or magical tomes.
her search is a quiet one, careful steps around the shop(s), slowly browsing the aisles. it's the older books that start to capture her attention, darker covers, ones that seem nondescript until they're pulled from the shelf, perhaps inscribed with latin titles. or older languages.
it's a black book that lilith first pulls down, shelf a fraction higher than what she can reach, no title on the spine. her hand runs over the cover, opening it with a very small smile. what an interesting find )
( books aren't the only source of gathering information at least not for a witch. the woods are a place that lilith has always had an appreciation for, somewhere quiet and peaceful away from the bustle and idiocy of cities. that and it's a strength for a witch, a connection to the nature that builds and flows with magic.
though she's not yet feeling frustrated with being here, as much as she'd prefer to be in hell or at least under her own power, lilith retreats to the woods, using its other purpose than just some calm and quiet.
she chooses a secluded spot, seating herself in the clearing, legs crossed, hands resting on her knees. clearing her mind she reaches out, looking to the past, trying to get a feeling of events that had happened, levitating as she does )
[The woods may be the home of witches, but heroes find themselves wandering through this realm far too frequently. This one seems at home in the wilds, at least, confident enough to wander beyond the safety of the marked path. Tasked with trail guide work by those that have brought her here, she slips into this role far too easily.]
[Sara approaches this scene entirely by accident. Her jog skitters to a slow stop and she regards the woman levitating with a peculiar amount of curiosity.]
...A biotic?
[This isn't the first time she's seen someone floating, and she regards the image by the terms she's most familiar.]
( lilith's aware of the woman's presence when she starts to approach, feeling her through the air and the ground, knowing she's there before the woman speaks.
her eyes open with the question, appearing as if the woman had startled her. she may even pretend as if she doesn't realise that she's levitating, as if powers are entirely new to her )
[When the woman startles, Sara has the decency to look apologetic; she hasn't meant to barge in on anything. She remembers Cora, her crewmate, who could levitate objects so easily with her mind. The tug of nostalgia has her too distracted.]
Sorry, I didn't mean to jump in on you...meditating here?
[That was something biotics did, wasn't it?]
I work at the trail grounds nearby. If you need anything, you're welcome to let us know...
Anton decides to go on a walk through the woods. He enjoys this world, but sometimes it's a bit overwhelming, and there's something about the woods that's comforting. While there are bits of litter that remind him that he's in a strange and alien world, and sounds of cars in the distance make it even more impossible to ignore that fact, it still feels a bit more like something familiar. Trees were just trees, after all, and he frequently would have traveled through wilderness such as this when traveling. Then he spots a woman floating. That also is something he might see back home, considering the number of wizards and sorcerers around, but he decides to stand there quietly for a moment, not wanting to break her concentration on whatever she's doing.]
( he may not wish to break her concentration but lilith knows that he's there, having felt him approach, movements in the air and along the ground connecting with her magic, the search she was conducting.
and-- there's something else, something she's not certain she can pinpoint until she opens her eyes. and there it becomes more obvious.
rather than seem surprised or question lilith looks at him with an expression that's clearly waiting for him to say something. after all, he'd stopped and watched her )
( where better to find people? whilst they've certainly been all around, various cities with various people in it all seeming to be powered. it was one thing that had been a certainty no matter where she'd gone even if they didn't have a power before this place.
bars had a different opportunity -- eavesdropping. she'd gotten a drink, moved to a booth, drink sat almost ignored on the table as she listened to the conversations around her. few of them were interesting, a mostly inane chatter about things that had happened during the day. as mortals did. but occasionally something more interesting did pop up -- a protest that was happening, talk of vigilantes. powers.
it was worth listening, even if lilith had been sat in the booth alone for far longer than most people would be. her drink was slowly emptying and when finally finished her hand lifted, careful movements over the glass. it's dark, mostly hidden by the lack of light but it may be able to be caught that her glass refills without any liquid being poured into it )
( she fakes a look as if to deny it, to seem confused with his question but then lilith realises there's no point. she heard the spiel about the whole thing and whilst she'd already had her own power before this place, it seemingly unchanged (so she believes) others either know of it or have their own to begin with.
so she drops the look, though it hardly means that she'll just tell him what she has )
That's a little personal.
( honestly, she'll just pick one of her powers, one that doesn't require a verbal spell and pretend that's a sole power )
[A slow nod of agreement because even he can understand that maybe sharing every detail of oneself on a first meet might be a little too much. Especially something as potentially life saving as powers being shared with a total stranger.]
Don't worry though, love, wasn't intending to use that knowledge against yeh or nothing. Just too bloody curious for me own good sometimes. I forget not every folk wants to rant or rave about their sweet new powers, y'know? Some get excited, some get extra coy.
Perhaps some would prefer to better know the person asking.
( because so far all lilith knew was his name, that he knew where to drink and that he tried to flirt. she wasn't certain that she did want to know him better but he did potentially have useful information )
[Can he truly be blamed for flirting and buying her a drink? Who wouldn't given half the chance?]
I got nothin' to hide. 'Sides, not exactly easy keepin' secrets in this world when them Government folk already know everythin' about yeh and there's folk following yer every move.
[A small adjust of the umbrella on his shoulder, eyes more on her than the path he's taking. The paths to all the bars around here are well trodden by him already.]
Mine aren't exactly superpowers, just the same shite I had back home. I'm a vampire, see, come with all them trimmings of sun aversion and youthful skin.
( it starts slowly, the meteor storm occurring, a general weakening of her magic. and lilith feels it, a physical weakening in her body as her power slips away. she tries a spell, trying to move some of the crystals, conjure them, create flames to destroy them--
nothing. she can't feel her power and nothing results from her spells. and honestly, it's terrifying. she's powerless.
in all of the time that lilith has been alive she's been a witch, born with her magic, felt it running through her and now--
she looks a little lost, still trying to instinctively draw on her power at certain times but nothing happens again, reminding her that it's gone. she's never been mortal before. she knows how to live, has had to act mortal in greendale (and throughout history) but to actually be one-- it scares her )
( a bar )
( she ends up in a bar, a drink to contemplate what she's going to do, a drink to listen to what others are saying. she isn't the onky one that's been affected, others have lost their powers but have also been other effects.
it's a troubling thing and lilith can't quite tell what has caused it. there's clearly some other power here, she knew that from the simple fact of her being here.
so she tries to pacify some of the worries with her drink, thinking on what to do next, trying to squash the fear. and when that first drink is done she orders another )
[The angel, thus far, has been fortunate enough not to encounter much of any of the unfortunate crystals -- though he's on borrowed time for that, even if he's entirely unaware of it at the moment -- so he has no cause to think anything might be amiss for any particular reason.
But something about her feels different, and her expression, the way she's carrying herself, that's certainly something. So the angel approaches looking faintly concerned. Despite the tension that had sprung up in their last encounter.]
Lilith? [He begins, voice light.] I had been hoping I'd run into you again.
( she doesn't know that he's there until he speaks, no longer feeling his power, surprised to see him, having been caught in her own thoughts )
Aziraphale--
( she pauses. she should be cautious around him, feels it still even though he'd seemed-- kind? to her. welcoming at the very least, or perhaps just overly polite. whatever the descriptor was it was a strange feeling, particularly when he wanted to find her again )
[The smile he offers is a bit sheepish, not quite apologetic but erring in that general direction.]
Things got a bit tense when last we spoke. And I would hate to leave it at that.
[He may not know what to make of her entirely, and he doesn't trust her, but they had an interesting conversation. And he does have that habit of wanting to believe the best of people, even immortal ageless vaguely demonic people apparently.]
You'll have to pardon my saying, but you seem a bit... that is to say... Are you all right?
[When Cass stumbles into the bar it's for celebration rather than drinking away sorrows, rowdy and cheerful as he drops onto a stool by Lilith and orders an entire bottle of whiskey from the bartender.
He's looking a little... red. Sunburnt, no doubt, but even that doesn't appear to have dampened his grin. A grin that only broadens when he realises who he's sat himself next to.]
You alright there, love? Look like you've seen better days, no offence, like.
( she straightens a little when he sits with her, throwing him a less than pleased look for his comment. she feels like she's seen better days, weak and-- mortal without her magic. she doesn't even feel like a demon and lilith has no idea how this is possible. there are spell's to remove a witch's power but this-- )
Have you heard of what has been happening?
( if she weren't trying to puzzle this out she might have noticed his sunburn. considering he was a vampire-- that would have rang some bells for her )
All these changes goin' on? Aye, hard not to notice.
[Although, to be fair to Lilith, Cassidy would have been entirely clueless to this whole event were he not literally smashed on the head by a meteor and de-powered for the day.]
I heard some folk been getting real angry, you just gotten real sad instead?
