void dream ; open
WHO: The Outsider & you?
WHERE: A Shared Dream
WHEN: June, whenever
WHAT: The Outsider dreams of the Void, and sometimes people wander in
WARNINGS: Outsider often talks about or alludes to death, murder, violence etc, though he rarely goes into detail
[ You were asleep, and it almost feels like you've woken up again, but something is... strange. You get up, turn around and wherever you were sleeping is open wide to the Void.
Nothingness as far as you can see, except the strange black rock and some sort of species of whale floating in the Void, and the objects and things on the rocks.
The Void draws from the minds of who is there. Some of what is here may be random objects from this world, a hovercar or televison. But some are definitely from somewhere else - there's machines and objects and bits and pieces of architecture from the Outsider's world. Other things you may recognize from home, as the Void draws from your mind. There may even be people you know, from here or home, frozen and unmoving as if in a tableau.
While you look at something, the Outsider appears beside you in a cloud of his telltale black smoke. ]
You've found your way into the Void.
(( OOC: check here for more on how this power works. His vision power is still an option too! If you're cr, he may have pulled you in. If not, people can randomly wander in if they're sleeping the same time he is. If you have dream powers of some kind, feel free to have your character have more control over aspects of the dream, or jam with me about what that might do.))

When he next opens his eyes, his door is open to darkness and nothingness. Molly's immediate reaction is, of course, to grab his sword and slide it into its sheath, tugging on his coat and stepping out into the darkness with a hand on the hilt. He's the most colorful thing in here for miles.
Or—
There, on that rock. There's Jester, a shock of blue against the darkness, and Molly doesn't think before he's already sliding down the rock he's on, vaulting over a jagged rock formation with barely a curse for how it cuts into his palm (and the rock glows for just the briefest moment before Molly lets go, and the glow fades away), and scrambles up to touch Jester.]
Jester?
[She doesn't move. She doesn't speak. She doesn't even twitch. She's frozen in time, and Molly's hopeful face just crumbles as he moves away, shoulders slumping.
Then the Outsider shows up, and Molly jumps back with a surprised yell of fuck! His sword is halfway out before he manages to calm himself down, but his hand still stays on the hilt as he watches this pale, black-eyed being with some trepidation. His tail flicks from side to side, agitated.]
The—The what now? And what is she doing here? [He waves a hand at Jester's frozen form, the smile on her face forever pasted there.] What in the bloody hell am I doing here, actually?
no subject
He is, however, interested in what Molly is exactly, though that can wait. He waves a hand at Jester, his deep black eyes on Molly. ]
You brought her here, when you arrived without permission or invitation. [ It's not accusatory; he doesn't seem to care one way or another. He folds his hands behind his back and leans forward a little. ] The Void draws on the minds of those within it. She must feature prominently in yours.
no subject
But he's looking to Jester now, a bright slash of color even in the midst of the darkness, even frozen in time like this.]
She's a friend from home. [And he misses her.] This Void—is it yours? Because if it is, just show me where the exit is and I'll see myself out.
no subject
Were you expecting a door? A path that leads to sky above and ground below?
[ He turns back to Molly. ]
You could try waking up.
no subject
How do I wake up when I'm already awake?
no subject
[ The Outsider isn't exactly keen to see Molly leave just yet, though, and he paces. ]
Tell me, what are you called?
no subject
[Lie. Sometimes he dreams of suffocating darkness and the taste of dirt on his tongue, scraping his fingers raw and bloody to pull himself up and out of the dirt. But that’s not something he’s willing to give away to a stranger.]
Mollymauk Tealeaf. [He’s a stubborn little shit, this one, answering who instead of what.] I tell fortunes at the Medieval Festival. [He cocks his head to the side, and the dangling decorations from his horns jingle softly.] What about you? I have to call you something.
no subject
If you have to call me something, Mollymauk, then you can call me the Outsider.
[ He dissolves into black smoke, and reappears nearby, sitting on one of the smaller chunks of rock. ]
What is the "Medieval Festival"?
no subject
So this whole thing, whales and rocks and all, it's yours?
no subject
[ It's strange, having to explain what the Void is and who he was in it. Not that any explanation the Outsider gives is a straight answer. ]
If we are speaking of the career choices made for us by the people here, I should be a shopkeeper at "Big Fish Aquarium Supplies".
no subject
[What, it's dark and cold and dreary here. It gives him the creeps. It'd give anyone the creeps.]
Just didn't show up to work, then?
no subject
[ Now that definitely had the bite of bitterness to it. But he smooths over. ]
I went once, to see if it would be interesting. It wasn't.
