void dream ; open
WHO: The Outsider & you?
WHERE: A Shared Dream
WHEN: June, whenever
WHAT: The Outsider dreams of the Void, and sometimes people wander in
WARNINGS: Outsider often talks about or alludes to death, murder, violence etc, though he rarely goes into detail
[ You were asleep, and it almost feels like you've woken up again, but something is... strange. You get up, turn around and wherever you were sleeping is open wide to the Void.
Nothingness as far as you can see, except the strange black rock and some sort of species of whale floating in the Void, and the objects and things on the rocks.
The Void draws from the minds of who is there. Some of what is here may be random objects from this world, a hovercar or televison. But some are definitely from somewhere else - there's machines and objects and bits and pieces of architecture from the Outsider's world. Other things you may recognize from home, as the Void draws from your mind. There may even be people you know, from here or home, frozen and unmoving as if in a tableau.
While you look at something, the Outsider appears beside you in a cloud of his telltale black smoke. ]
You've found your way into the Void.
(( OOC: check here for more on how this power works. His vision power is still an option too! If you're cr, he may have pulled you in. If not, people can randomly wander in if they're sleeping the same time he is. If you have dream powers of some kind, feel free to have your character have more control over aspects of the dream, or jam with me about what that might do.))

heck yes i've got icons for this and everything
And then he feels almost solid again. He steps onto dark, broken rock, footfalls echoing strangely in the infinite space. Though perhaps he should not need to walk at all: physical laws seem to be entirely suspended. briefly considering a nearby holocron before dismissing it. The only knowledge it could contain was already known: The mental walls that withstood his fellow Sith do not hold here. They were simply circumvented in some way, and learning how is vital.
He ignores a figment of his daughter, face twisted with rage in front of him.]
As it has found its way into me. [His mask tilts slightly towards the Outsider.] Was your time within the anomaly satisfying? [Despite its dangers and his own revulsion, he had considered experiencing the shared dream. In the end, there were other matters that demanded his attention.]
Nice nice nice
There will be time to comment on the technology or the woman later, though the Outsider is very much aware of them. For now he focuses on the question. ]
Satisfying enough.
I admit, I would have liked to personally witness the conclusion. What you suggested came to pass - but the one to take the choice in his own hands was none other than the lover.

There will be other anomalies. This world grows more unstable as our presence corrodes it. But each is different from the last. We will not experience the same effects again. [A regrettable observation. It meant his own preferred anomaly would never blight the planet again. His memories of his time within it was broken into vivid fragments: While others had recoiled in horror at the mutability of their forms, he had embraced the change.]

Then this happens. He finds himself in a strange place, standing inside a Star Destroyer medbay with half its walls fallen away, leading to dark grey stone and a strange nothingness. And he's not alone.
He doesn't have a good feeling about this... ]
And what is the Void, exactly?
no subject
Eternal and timeless, in and outside the mind. It's a dream, a memory, and a little piece of home I visit every night. And every so often, I get visitors. But you weren't one who was invited. Who are you?

My name is Commander Jeroen Akobi, formerly of the First Galactic Imperial Army, currently an agent of Aegis Force. I am not someone who suffers madness lightly.

[ Not that it has to be, really, but it's difficult to resist picking at things here. This world is so frustrating.
Anthy had been staring into the middle distance, where there presently sits a large planetarium projector, her hair and nightgown whipping around her whenever the wind kicks up. She doesn't seem particularly phased by being here, or by the sudden appearance one someone else beside her.
When she turns to face him, her nightwear flickers seamlessly into a full, red dress, though her hair remains loose. It's not so formal, but still more appropriate for company. Or for being company in another's space, at it were. ]
This place is yours, then, I suppose.
no subject
[ He looks to the projector, wondering at the purpose of the device, but he's also fascinated by her outfit. The style isn't too far off from what exists in his world, except for one exception: skirts are very rare. Even the woman wear pants. He's seen skirts since coming here, of course, but none quite as volumous like that gown. ]
What are you wearing?
no subject
It's something of a uniform. [ She smooths her down the front of the blouse from the waist, targeting wrinkles that don't exist, before folding them primly before her. The wind kicks up again and a mass of fabrics billows up behind her while she remains relatively placid. ] I am the Rose Bride, so... maybe it's meant to be a wedding ensemble.

There's a feeling, though, that's familiar and yet not. The Void isn't a place in his experience, but rather an aspect of the Light, one that was a challenge for him to connect with back home and is wholly cut off for him here besides. He's no egghead or philosopher so he's unwilling and unable to pontificate the familiarity further than "oh that's a familiar vibe."
The freewheeling exploration grinds to a halt when he finds a tableau of himself and Variks the Loyal tucked into a chunk of floating debris. A moment stuck in time, an argument he held with him not long before being imPorted. Variks reaches for him with one of his mechanical arms, a bold move considering that Cayde recalled that he had just threatened to cut off his remaining real ones not moments before.
Cayde crosses his arms and squints at himself and then at Variks.]
I really shoulda got him to buy me another drink.
no subject
What manner of person is he?
no subject
[He clears his throat, an utterly unnecessary gesture on account of being a robot.]
Well hey there, Spooky! Figures you'd be here. Somehow.
[He waves a hand in the direction of Variks.]
Oh that'd be Variks. Mostly harmless in the physical sense, but he's the clever sort, the kind of clever you keep one eye open for. But he's alright, I guess.

There's a frozen figure there too: Michael Elphberg, the Duke of Dark Corners, resplendent in his ducal finery and trapped in time in a picture perfect snapshot of him sat at the Castle Zenda's grand table.
And then there's Rupert himself, half-awake (maybe?) and seemingly perfectly at ease in these strange surroundings despite the fact that he's the only moving, breathing, living creature truly there. He's a pulsating splash of vivid colour in the gloom of the void, sunny as a schoolboy and taking everything in his stride. Only the figure at the table gives him pause; he regards the Duke coolly for a moment. Because, honestly, Rupert has half a mind to turn the frozen Duke out of his chair and kick him down the stone stairs to nothingness. Overbred bastard.
Rupert turns at the Outside's rather artful approach and gestures at their surroundings. ]
Is it? Rather crowded for a void...
[ He grins at his own joke then nods cheerfully at a passing whale as it solemnly flaps past. ]
And your fish isn't looking too healthy.
no subject
[ He otherwise ignores the commentary. He observes the scenery; Rupert was evidently from a world much more familiar to the Outsider than this one. There were little differences, though, from what fragments could be seen.
The Outsider disappears and reappears next to the Duke, poking his frozen cheek. ]

When he next opens his eyes, his door is open to darkness and nothingness. Molly's immediate reaction is, of course, to grab his sword and slide it into its sheath, tugging on his coat and stepping out into the darkness with a hand on the hilt. He's the most colorful thing in here for miles.
Or—
There, on that rock. There's Jester, a shock of blue against the darkness, and Molly doesn't think before he's already sliding down the rock he's on, vaulting over a jagged rock formation with barely a curse for how it cuts into his palm (and the rock glows for just the briefest moment before Molly lets go, and the glow fades away), and scrambles up to touch Jester.]
Jester?
[She doesn't move. She doesn't speak. She doesn't even twitch. She's frozen in time, and Molly's hopeful face just crumbles as he moves away, shoulders slumping.
Then the Outsider shows up, and Molly jumps back with a surprised yell of fuck! His sword is halfway out before he manages to calm himself down, but his hand still stays on the hilt as he watches this pale, black-eyed being with some trepidation. His tail flicks from side to side, agitated.]
The—The what now? And what is she doing here? [He waves a hand at Jester's frozen form, the smile on her face forever pasted there.] What in the bloody hell am I doing here, actually?
no subject
He is, however, interested in what Molly is exactly, though that can wait. He waves a hand at Jester, his deep black eyes on Molly. ]
You brought her here, when you arrived without permission or invitation. [ It's not accusatory; he doesn't seem to care one way or another. He folds his hands behind his back and leans forward a little. ] The Void draws on the minds of those within it. She must feature prominently in yours.

She had only had just the barest of moments to recognise some of LAN's electronics among the debris when The Outsider appeared beside her. Training took over without even a second's notice and she was facing him, and about five feet from where he'd appeared, graceful dance-like movements carrying her the short distance without a shred of strain.
When she speaks, she's polite at least, that part of her training also holding up. ]
What sort of place is the Void?
no subject
He spreads his hands. ]
A place that is not a place. Real, and not real. In my mind and in yours.
[ He disappears and reappears just a couple of feet away, smoke swirling around him, to crouch in front of the electronics. ]

And it pings slightly into a conversation she had recently when the man appears at her side and speaks a single sentence. Because it's a dream, she doesn't think before speaks, or about the fact she speaks either. ]
