a divining log
WHO: Everyone participating in the divining for Atropos
WHERE: Nonah Government Apartments
WHEN: May 1st
WHAT: It’s time to try to talk to Atropos.
WARNINGS: Probably lots of talk about the apocalypse, will add more if needed
There’s likely a sense of tension in the building when one enters Kanaya’s apartment. No matter how much this group has prepared, there’s no real way of knowing what awaits- and there’s plenty at stake. While there will certainly be time to commiserate before the event, it’s barely a casual affair. Feel free to discuss plans with others, but there’s no time to waste.
The divination will start soon enough. Cassandra and Kanaya themselves are in place, clearly steeling themselves for any consequences. They’ll be prepared to use their abilities, and so should everyone else. If you need time to prepare your powers, to communicate with others, or are ready to fight, you can certainly do so as the divination begins, or- if you think something’s gone wrong, you can act to change that. No one knows what’s about to happen.
And- well, it may not be what anyone expected. Before long, it’s clear: Atropos is here, and her voice can be heard. But not what she’s saying. In fact, though everyone can comprehend she’s speaking, her words are total gibberish. Is there a sense of purpose here? Is communicating in this matter even on purpose? It’s hard to tell.
At the very least, Atropos is aware, and she’s listening to everyone here. The divination has worked. The problem is, it’s not clear how it would be possible to talk back- or even what they’d be responding to.
And then- sudden compared to when it started- the divination is over. There’s nothing more anyone can gain from this. Yes, talking to Atropos has been successful...but it’s not as if anything was truly learned.
They can take comfort in one thing, though: their precautions worked. The world didn’t end, right? Seems they’ve gotten off with nothing.
In the aftermath, you’ll have a surprising lack of wounds to lick and disasters to settle. Is that really it? For now, it seems so. Hang around, or perhaps linger outside, but for now it doesn’t look like much is going on...
Although there certainly are a lot of crows around tonight, aren’t there? And...do clouds usually drift in that direction?
It’s something, at least.
[ ooc: Despite the ambiguous results, the log is open for characters to play a part in the divination! Feel free to create prompts taking place before, during, and after. ]

The answer is here, in this moment. He'd been afraid because dreams rely on their dreamer. Without one, they're just a concept scattered in the air and forgotten.
Ronan's eyes return to Kylo. Outwardly, he looks more dazed than afraid. But inside, that old fear has risen up again. Maybe he's the kind of dream that fades as soon as the sun comes up, when real concerns creep into the mind and replace insignificant fantasies. No one knows what Atropos said, but Ronan is certain about what she meant to say to him: There is no end for something that never began and he has always been nothing.
Curling forward, he lays his head down on Kylo's shoulder.

It's something about still being here in this room where they touched her. It has to be. If he can just get Ronan away from whatever's lingering in the air and back home to the Meadows, they can work on finding his scattered pieces together.
He's about to tell Ronan this when suddenly the faraway terror swimming under the surface of him surges, and Ronan slumps forwards into him, helpless and quiet.
"Ronan," he says again, trying to silence the fear seizing his heart. His arm wraps around Ronan's back, hand running a broad stroke up to his shoulder. He holds him against the solidity of his own body. "I want to take you home. Now. You've done everything you needed to here. It's finished."
He'll carry him, if he has to.

"Yeah," Ronan agrees, barely audible with the way his face is tucked against Kylo. "Fuck this shit." He can't remember why he even agreed to indulge this plan. All of him spent on a distorted psychic phone call when he could have just taken them away from this place.
He starts to say something more, but the exhaustion hits him and sends him tumbling fast into unconsciousness, his body going limp in Kylo's arms.

She's no psychic, she can't diagnose this. But she'd be surprised if Ren wasn't already trying to. "What's wrong with him," she finally asks, with a tone and intensity that's almost closer to a demand than a question.
