WHAT: Aegis Force, the government-funded imPort peacekeeping team, is hosting this month's Swear-In to promote their ideals of teamwork and cooperation! Come compete and spectate in the SPACE SLAM, the sporting event that's out of this world! Also featuring a LUNAR DISCO, a DIPLOMATIC EVENT, and a BATTLE AGAINST ATTACKING ROBOTS! Wait, what was that last one?
WARNINGS: Violence, awkward locker rooms. Any questions or issues, hit up the OOC post!

PART I: THE SWEAR-IN

Welcome to the Moon, imPorts! You arrive through the Porter in the base's atrium dome, designed in a futuristic style that emphasizes sleek, spotless white surfaces. You will immediately notice how much less you weigh here in the Moon's low-gravity environment- be careful jumping, or you may hit the ceiling!

Before you can get to the main event, you'll have to pass through strict security comparable to an airport experience (if the airport was surrounded by merciless vacuum and filled with flammable oxygen). Any weapons will have to be surrendered and locked up by base personnel during the event, unless you can convince officials to make an exception. Once past security, airlock tunnels will lead to the Base's other domes, where the main body of the Swear-In will be today.

The RESIDENCE dome is the largest of the interlinked habitable bubbles that make up the main Moon Base, holding tourist hotels, staff apartments, restaurants, and even a grassy park beneath a glass dome offering a view of the Earth above. Crowds are thick today, as plenty of people have flocked to the Moon to behold the heavily-advertised SPACE SLAM. The Slam is an Aegis-sponsored live-streamed sporting event, game show and fundraiser where imPorts assemble themselves into teams of 2 - 6 characters and compete in different challenges, held in hotel gyms and in the park. Giant screens and bright holo-displays notify of the different causes benefiting from today’s event, including the Endeavor Centre, SELF, and HOPE. Participating characters can choose any or all of:

1. Basketball - but of course. A court has been set up, and the stands are packed with cheering fans. Two teams face off and try to get the ball through each other’s hoops!
2. Battle Royale - the obligatory superhero sparring fight, available in free-for-all and team-vs.-team editions. Square off against with your rivals in an open arena and show the world who’s the toughest- just don’t kill or seriously maim anybody in the fray, or you’ll be disqualified!
3. Low-gravity laser tag - the less violent alternative to the Battle Royale, again in free-for-all or team-vs-team options. Grab your vest and plastic light gun and bounce your way into the neon-lit Zap Zone for a match!
4. Irritation Lane - a particularly challenging event, part demolition derby, part go-karting race. Your team must choose and customize their own ground vehicle(s) in a garage with sixty minutes to spare, working from pre-existing chassis like rugged old-fashioned moon buggies, light and fast hover cycles, and the massive heavy-footed Lunar Construction Mech. Decorate and modify your creations as you please and outfit them with nonlethal weapons like glue-foam missiles, EMP mines, net launchers, and smoke screens. Then put on a space suit and face your rivals in a thrilling race around the track that’s been constructed outside the base, complete with soaring low-gravity jumps and daring shortcuts through twisty, narrow canyons!
5. Charades - livestreamed to the entire planet so EVERYONE can see you choking as you try to think of how to mime a banana without looking like a pervert.
6. Competitive karaoke - livestreamed to the entire planet so EVERYONE can see you choking as you try to hit those high notes on ‘Don’t Stop Believing.’
7. Cooking contest - hop into a futuristic, well-stocked kitchen in one of the hotels with your team and roll up your sleeves. You’ve got an hour to whip up a dish that will impress, after which you’ll share your creation with other Swear-In attendees. The more delicious your cooking, the more votes you’ll get when it comes time for judging!
8. Dance-off - does your team have the moves to win over the audience? Put together a killer routine and show what you’ve got!
9. Bouncy castle endurance contest - A massive bouncy castle awaits in a huge room on one of the lower floors of the dome, with protective pads covering the walls and floors and ceilings. Get on the castle with your teammates and jump, jump, jump sky-high in the lowered gravity! Keep jumping no matter what, even if the opposing team tries to knock you off the castle. The team with the last people still bouncing wins this contest!
10. Lunar volleyball - the moondust on the moon’s surface is kind of like sand, isn’t it? At any rate, someone has set up a net outside the Residence dome and space suits are available for those who want to see how hard they can spike a ball in low-gravity.

Holographic and force field technology is in play during these events to ensure everyone's safety in the fragile environment of the Moon Base. Teams of metahumans are also competing, if you want to play out your team playing against NPCs. Before and after your matches, you may want to huddle with your team to discuss strategy and get psyched, engage in some trash talk with your rivals to get in their heads, and give interviews to clustering reporters about how you and your teammates are going to play hard, you know, just give it your very best. Locker rooms are also available for you and your teammates to get changed and shower in, which may or may not be excruciatingly awkward for you. Good luck and have fun, imPorts!

Once you’ve had your fill of the adrenaline of the Space Slam, why not move into the Embassy Dome for a more relaxing and mingle-friendly time? A LUNAR DISCO is happening in the gorgeous Grand Ballroom at the dome’s top level, with huge windows offering a gorgeous view of the cosmos, music to groove to across the marble floor, and a spread of free appropriately-themed snacks and drinks. Among the refreshments is finger food from The Nickel, and Abigail Hobbs will be playing the harpsichord. If you feel like you need to get outside for some (lack of) air, you can also step away for a moonwalk tour, ambling across the desolate gray lunar landscape in a space suit or a clear sealed 'hamster ball' under the supervision of base staff.

You may also find yourself on the Earth Viewing Deck, an elegant lounge dominated by a vast window view of the Earth, with soft music, low lighting, and private alcoves for personal conversation. Here is where the political aspect of the Swear-In comes into play. Not only is there a desk staffed by a government official where you can declare yourself Registered or Unsettled, but there are also optional conversation-starting name tags available with prompts like ‘I’m (INSERT FACTION/ALLEGIANCE HERE), ask me why’ or ‘I am a (INSERT SPECIES/PROFESSION/OTHER RELEVANT IDENTITY HERE), ask me anything’ or ‘I’m (REGISTERED/UNSETTLED), change my mind!’ The goal of this event is encouraging imPorts to talk to each other and resolve issues within their community peacefully and proactively, easing possible disputes before they end up making more work for Aegis.


PART II: ROBOT ATTACK!!
Things run smoothly until late in the evening of the event, when the buzz is immediately killed by a shrill siren, cutting through conversation and competition alike. A hushed silence falls over the gathering, broken by nervous murmuring. Those with experience in these things already know what’s happening: a Swear-In is about to go to hell again.

An eerily calm announcement sounds over the base’s PA system: ”Red Alert. Red Alert. Hostile forces closing on base perimeter. Lockdown protocol now in effect. All civilians are directed to proceed in a calm and orderly manner to the Atrium Porter for evacuation to Earth. All security staff and heroes to your emergency stations. This is not a drill.”

The announcement repeats once, and then the siren resumes. Time to make a decision, imPorts. Are you a civilian who will be evacuating with other noncombatants? Or are you a hero who will stay behind and defend the Moon Base from the oncoming assault?

If you’re evacuating, you can still help to guide and assist the streams of civilians- scientists, VIPs, reporters, tourists, some of them panicking- back to the overcrowded Porter. Once you’re safely back on Earth via the Porter base of your choosing, there’ll be little left to do but huddle with others and wait for news of the crisis unfolding far above the sky, as bits and pieces of information trickle in from the news and social media.

Those of you who choose to buy time for the evacuation by staying to defend the base will find yourselves in a dire situation. Because the Moon Base was built for tourism, science, and diplomacy as a symbol of peace, and thus has no real defenses. It has sensors though, and base staff report at least fifty contacts approaching from all around the base, most of them headed for the Science Dome, home of the base’s labs, lecture hall, and archives, with maybe ten minutes before they arrive. Barely enough time to retrieve your gear (if any) from security and come up with a plan!

First, you’ll have to decide where to make your stand. Will you don a space suit and venture onto the lunar surface in unarmed buggies and shuttles, trying to intercept the enemies before they reach the base itself? Your daring may spare damage to the base and its inhabitants, but out there on the bleak grey dust of the Moon most of you will be only one suit rupture away from a terrible death! You’ll be safer defending from within the base itself, where at least there’s shelter.

The oncoming robots come in two varieties: beefy KILLER ROBOT SPACE LIZARDs, and more subtle COPYCAT DROIDS. The lizards are seven feet long, tough and armoured, equipped with razor teeth and claws, an electric tail, and laser-beam eyes. They also lay ACID-BOMB EGGS that characters will have to disable or dispose of before they burst, corroding the Moon Base still further and causing structural damage. But they're really just the demolition crew for the base, and not that dangerous to imPorts compared to the smaller cats.

These bad kitties are prowling for imPorts, and will fire energy beams at them from their heads, attempting to steal their talent powers. If the beam strikes true, not only is the imPort de-powered until the Copycat is destroyed, but the Copycat will also morph into liquid metal and shift into a metallic copy of the imPort in question, complete with their powers and any specialized gear they may have, which they'll immediately use to wreak havoc on imPorts and natives alike. Get ready to experience firsthand what it’s like to be powerless in the face of a superpowered attacker!

As lasers flash, heroes smash, and robots explode, the Moon Base will begin taking damage despite the best efforts of characters. Injured staff will cry out for assistance and rescue, falling debris will threaten to pin people to the floor, hull breaches will threaten to drain the base’s oxygen and blow people out into space, and fires and explosions will wrack the Science Dome in particular as the robots try to detonate its volatile experiments and power sources to wipe out the entire base!

By the end of the fray everyone at the Moon Base will have been evacuated alive if not necessarily uninjured while all robots are disabled. However, there will have been heavy damage to the Science Dome in particular. Your characters can get started on repair and recovery if they want to stick around. Either way, the bravery shown by imPorts defending the Swear-In will result in EVERYONE being declared a winner at the Space Slam!

In the aftermath, characters will be able to glean more information about what just happened and why. It appears the robots ‘hatched’ from pods buried around the perimeter of the base in response to an activation signal. Apparently these pods have been lying in wait for over a year, while the Moon Base itself was still under construction as a highly-public imPort-led project! Those who are familiar with the history of the Otherworld Technologies Organization (OTO) may find familiarity in the design of the robots and pods. It would hardly be the first time the more extreme OTO elements were alleged to have pitted their killer machines against imPorts and civilians alike…

COMMANDER JACOB TAYLOR | REGISTERED HERO

More than any other single person, Jacob is responsible for this Swear-In, and he's all over the place today to make sure everything is going right and that people are having fun. He's wearing his full armour with the Aegis badge prominently displayed, but he's also going to be quite publicly surrendering his weapons at the security checkpoint as an example for others to follow. He then hangs around the Atrium Porter as the first arrivals stream through from Earth, shaking hands and giving quick welcomes to native and imPort alike - "Hey, how are you, thanks for coming today-" and also lends a personal hand with security screening, helping to convince imPorts to cooperate with the Moon Base's stringent safety checks. The place has been attacked by a supervillain before, after all!

Once most of the initial surge of attendees have passed through security, Jacob moves to the Residential Dome and the Space Slam because it's time to jam. In the locker room before the event, Jacob gathers his team around him for an Aegis huddle. "This is it, everyone," he says, voice hushed and eyes earnest. "This is our chance to show everyone who we are. Our event, our turf, our time. I know I'm going to be proud of you all no matter what happens. But I also know that we're gonna go out there, we're going to live large, and we're going to win big. I can feel it. Do you feel it?"

It's all pretty intense, and Jacob brings that same intensity to the games once they begin. In the battle royale, he can be found leading the charge for Aegis, shouting commands and tanking opposing hits with his armour and a flickering bluish biotic barrier surrounding him. In laser tag, he throws his body through the garishly-lit arena like a slow-motion John Woo character, taking advantage of the low gravity to fire while in mid-air. In basketball, he uses his biotic abilities to boost his shots and passes, nailing the ball with blue energy in mid-air that makes it weightlessly soar higher and farther. And outside during lunar volleyball, he doesn't let the clunky space suit he's wearing hold him back from diving headfirst into the moon dust for the sake of stopping the ball from hitting the ground. He can be encountered in the other events too, playing just as hard.

Even Jacob's athleticism has limits though, and eventually he has to take a break, shower off the sweat, and go relax and mingle for a bit on the Earth Viewing Deck. Slowly nursing a drink, he makes the rounds of the attendees again, greeting people and making sure everyone is having a good time, paying special attention to new imPorts and to native political and media figures who might be able to help improve Aegis Force's profile in the public eye. He can also be found by himself, leaning on a railing, silently absorbing the breathtaking view of the Earth he hopes to defend. On his chest is one of the name tags, reading 'I'M A REGISTERED HERO, ASK ME WHY.'

For the moment, he's at peace. Things are going well. People are safe and having fun, Aegis is looking good for the people they're supposed to serve, and money is coming in for good causes. This is how things are supposed to be. But then the siren sounds, and everything goes wrong.

As news of the incoming hostiles comes in, Jacob can be found doubling back to the security checkpoint to retrieve his gear and make plans, arming an impressive-looking ray gun with one hand while reading intel updates off his comm with the other. A tinny voice can be heard faintly from his helmet, moon base staff updating him over the radio on how the crisis is developing. Behind the visor of his mask, his face is tight with anger, and when he speaks, his voice is clipped in the manner of someone holding on to his discipline.

"All right," he says, outwardly calm despite the tension throughout his body. "Civilians are evacuating, but we need to buy them time. I need volunteers who are willing to suit up and join me on a sortie outside the base to intercept the hostiles. We'll form a forward line of defense and slow down the enemy before they can reach their targets. Any takers? Any questions? Make it fast, because we do not have time."

Once plans are made and battle is joined, Jacob can be found fighting outside the base in a spacesuit, taking up position atop a low ridge and firing at the oncoming robots with some kind bright white freeze ray, turning his targets into blocks of ice despite the absence of water on the lunar surface. The lizard-bots return fire with their eye-lasers, kicking up clouds of moon dust around Jacob and making his biotic barrier flash as it absorbs impacts. He grunts, and calls out over the radio to whoever else is with him: "Watch yourselves. These things pack a punch."

The outdoor sortie only delays the assault, and before too long Jacob and the others are forced to fall back inside the base. The fray continues within the Science Dome, with Jacob's armour becoming scorched and pitted as he takes more hits from the enemy and dodges shrapnel from exploding research equipment. If he's phased at all, he doesn't show it. He keeps running, ducking behind cover, shooting, throwing out pulses of biotic energy that send targets floating through the air, and when the bots get too close, he straight-up wrestles them until he can get some distance or somebody else can get the thing off him. Throughout it all, he calls out encouragement and advice and direction to those near him, short exclamations like "Give them hell!" or "Watch your ass, lizard on your one o' clock!" If you're injured, he offers a first-aid kit, and if there's a lull in the combat, he grabs an extinguisher and starts spraying the nearest fire.

And then suddenly it's over, and there are no more enemies to fight, just a lot of wrecked robots and the damage they left behind. Panting, Jacob allows himself a few minutes to sit and drink some water before he gets back up and starts mingling again, making the rounds of those who are still here. This time, he's not giving greetings, but checking in- "Are you okay? Still in one piece?" One hand is often pressed to his ear, carrying on simultaneous conversations with moon base command and authorities on Earth, people who want to know what the hell just happened. Judging by the dark look on Jacob's face, it's a question he wants answers to as well.

Earth Viewing Deck

Anton is enraptured by the view of the planet below. He's never seen anything like this before. He's never imagined what it would be like staring down at a world that he'd been standing on. And to think...when he went back, he'd be able to stare right back up at the moon, which was now not just an orb in the sky to him, but an actual place he'd been with a building and rooms and catering.

He turns to glance at someone else looking at the view below, and notices the name tag. Anton's already considering registering, but he figures he might as well get more information before he decides.

"Yeah, sure, okay. Why are you a registered hero?"

Jonathan enjoys himself during the first part of the swear-in. When he's not lounging around by the Earth Viewing Deck with his name tag that says 'I'm a former Reptilian invader, ask me anything' or hanging around the snack table eating mars bars and sipping at the 'alien sex cocktail' he ordered, he can be found engaging in the various competitions.

His experience working for (and later running from) the Reptilian invasion comes in handy as he zips and dodges around obstacles an in effort to disrupt other people's shots while playing laser tag, carefully peering around corners to fire off a beam of light at a target before disappearing out of sight. While he's not exactly a great chef, the great improvements he's made with his cooking since Archie taught him how definitely is made apparent in the cooking contest. The karaoke, on the other hand...does he know how off key he is? It certainly doesn't appear he does, but he is having a good time all the same.

Then he teams up with his roommate, Chloe, to design and compete using their very own vehicle in Irritation Lane. Naturally, he feels he has some expertise in this area, and will make his opinions known, pushing for a hover cycle with as many smoke screens and emp mines they can load onto the thing.

Once that competition is done, Jonathan's a mess, so goes to the locker room to get a shower. He seems incredibly comfortable for a guy just wearing a towel, and perfectly willing to chat. He doesn't seem bothered at all showering in a locker room with a bunch of other guys.

Then, shortly after he gets dressed and goes back out to enjoy the festivities, all hell breaks loose. He stays inside the moon base to fight, not confident in his ability to be much of a help if he's too busy worrying about a potential suit rupture. He can be found attempting to disarm acid bombs. At least, until one blows up in his face. Fortunately, since his body is mostly acid, he can handle this, but his shirt certainly can't. He pulls it off, trying to mop up as much acid as he can with it, ignoring how his shirt seems to be dissolving as he tries to work out what he should even do with his acid laden shirt. Until he sees one of the lizard bots.

Panicking, he throws the shirt at the lizard bot, which does get some of the acid on it. While the acid seems to be eating away at some of the metal, it's not working nearly fast enough for his liking, so Jonathan looks around before frantically running to the garage that had been used for Irritation Lane. Soon he emerges with a crow bar. Now he feels ready to fight these things.

Why? Why does this keep happening? The first moon swear-in didn't involve robots or scarabs or anything like that. Next time there's a moon swear-in, Finn's probably going to just stay home and rent a movie.

But right now that hero instinct is kicking in. More importantly, he has to find Jonathan. Thankfully this time there doesn't seem to be anything taking over people's bodies.

Finn runs through the base, calling out for Jonathan. Thankfully, his search doesn't last very long before he sees his lover throw his shirt at one of the bots and then get a crowbar.

As the lizard bot looks like it's about to make another attempt on Jonathan, Finn shouts at it. "Fus Ro Dah!" And the bot is blown back, thrown against the wall.

The last time Finn was on the moon, things went to Oblivion. Scarabs, having to save friends, and getting a shot off on the bastard behind it. Hopefully this time will go much better.

Before the games, he stays behind to mingle, talking to friends and newcomers, and dodging reporters. Last time he got cornered by one, they were more interested in asking invasive questions than his actual heroics.

When the games start, he can be found playing for his team in a variety of activities. He's not too good at laser tag, but at least it's easier to handle than a bow. Finn sings off-key when he goes in for karaoke, but he doesn't give two coppers. For the cooking contest, he'll be making an apple pie, since this world doesn't have ash yams. And then he can be found in the bouncy castle, mostly too busy having fun to think about winning.

After the games are over, he'll be in the locker room, getting changed back into his jeans and t-shirt, and his teammates are more than welcome to come up and talk.

At the club, he'll be dancing in his own weird way, with his arms waving weirdly, and anyone can come up and dance with him if they dare.

Then the robots attack. He should have known this sort of thing was going to happen. Finn has new Shouts and at least one new spell he has up his sleeve. He stays inside, where he knows he can do the most good. He makes his way through the base, seeing a robot about to attack someone. A quick zap with a lightning spell stuns it.

Mingling

Akobi is once again attending a Swear In as a representative of Aegis, not really do much to participate in the games and sports, but to elicit good PR for his organization. Of course, he can't help but be reminded of the last time he was on the lunar base, especially when he sees his old art partner across the hall.

"Funny seeing you here," he says by way of greeting. "How have you been faring?"

Anders doesn't know any of these sports and he's only athletic in the sense that he can swing a staff and go on adventures. But that doesn't really translate to sports. Still, he's going to do his best.

Before the games, Anders is available to talk with his fellow imPorts, asking about some of the sports and other activities he's going to be engaging in. Best to brush up before actually playing.

He looks at his laser tag gun, wondering how it even works, before going in. His aim has slightly improved since the carnival's water gun game. Anders will also be taking part in the bouncy house game. He wishes they had this stuff in Thedas, it's so much fun!

After the games, he heads for the viewing deck, not really being up for the club scene after all that activity. He gazes out, looking down at the Earth, still not quite able to believe that he's so far away from the planet.

When the robots attack, Anders is quick to spring into action. His first priority is seeing if anyone needs his help, or if anyone needs healing. He'll be playing defense for the most part. A quick Cone of Cold freezes a couple of lizard bots in place. "Suck on a fireball!"

Foggy is not staying behind this time. He’s already had to go through a Swear-In on the moon going to hell once before, sure as fuck he’s not going through it again, but neither can he not help either, so he goes to find some debris that’s safe enough to hold and starts herding panicked civilians along to safety.

A couple of lizard bots head their way, but something flashes bright in the corner of Foggy’s eye. A moment later, they’ve frozen in place, and Foggy lowers the lead pipe he’d been carrying around, looking rumpled and tired, but mostly just determined to get the small gaggle of frightened teenagers behind him out of there. “Thanks,” he says, “do you have any idea what’s going on? Again?”

He doesn’t sound like he expects to get any answers.

Anthy Himemiya | Unsettled

A - The View from Up Here

[ Anthy doesn't care to declare herself, one way or the other. It may be in her best interest to change her registration status, if it every comes up between herself and Utena, but for now... She's unregistered, and that's fine. It's been a month, and nothing awful has come of it.

She might try to reason with herself that she's here because Utena wanted her to come, but... In the Earth Viewing Deck, she's largely ignoring the world below. She's leaned back in a plush chair, calm and very still, looking up at the stars.

She's also wearing one of the name tags, pinned onto the left side of her new dress's bodice. "I am the Rose Bride. Ask me anything." And she certainly doesn't want people to ask anything, but she's trying to play the part of a good sport. ]


B - The Bells Indicate the Start of the Duel

[ Anthy's powers largely manifest as manipulations of reality. The sirens happen, then the evacuation announcement... When the attackers first manage to reach the base itself, the sound of clanging church bells rings overhead. Or did you only imagine that?

Similarly, is there's semi-spooky, nonsensical choral music playing all around the fray, or is that just you?

Either way, you may spot a girl in a red gown and tiara, who really seems like she's not cut out for fighting herself. She doesn't seem very bothered by it, though. Hand folded primly, she walks with fair calmness through the fray...

Until, of course, one of the robots more directly antagonizes her. Then she's firmly a damsel in distress, knocked to the ground and losing a high-heeled shoe in the process. ]

S-stay away from me! Please!

[The alarms catch Utena off guard as much as anyone else, but there's one thing that cuts through the chaos and the sirens: Anthy's voice. She jerks her head towards her, and without a second thought, she dashes towards the robot that has her cornered]

Himemiya!

[She raises a fist and swings it wildly as she launches herself towards the robot, and when it connects, the thing's head crinkles underneath her knuckles like cheap aluminum. While the Porter didn't grant her super strength, the talents it did give her aren't anything to sneeze at. As the robot staggers to the side she pulls her fist back, her hand scratched instead of broken, and when she finally lands on the ground she kneels down at Anthy's side.]

Kurt's not here to compete or play Earth sports. He's here to see what the Moon Base is like and get a little closer to space. Not to mention spend some time away from Earth. He's wearing his skinsuit at the moment, since he's still in the habit of wearing it when he's mingling among humans.

Early on, Kurt can be found in the domes, exploring the parks and residential areas, and looking up at the Earth. The Earth as a distant shape is something he's used to seeing.

He's also here to support his fellow Reptilian as he competes, sitting in the stands and watching him, though he doesn't get too bombastic.

Later, Kurt makes his way to the bar, wondering if there's anything even remotely close to the kinds of things he used to drink back on his homeworld. He orders himself an alien shooter, looking at it curiously before downing it. "Oh man, that's amazing."

The robots take him by surprise. Kurt's not very combat oriented, and he doesn't have a weapon on him. Near the science dome, a lizard bot jumps him and tears parts of his skin suit off. Kurt manages to throw it off him and hides until it passes by him. Cautiously, he peeks out, then emerges, looking at himself in a reflective surface. Part of his skinsuit's face is gone, as is part of the suit's neck, revealing vibrant green scales. "Well shit."

Allison's relieved to find this place has drinks to begin with, and then that they are far better than subpar for this kind of widespread event, with this many participants and spectators-- well, that's even better. She's settled into having a pause from the crowds and game watching since her brother's last team bout ended again, with a scotch, herself.

She's not sure what the guy next to her ordered, but it's impossible not to look over and smile a little, a touch curiously at just what it might have been, when he sounds so surprised and pleased with what he got.

It’s a hard combination of both necessity and nerves that leaves Allison, looking quite a lot like she just might be waiting for someone right inside the security check point, nearby one of the windows that face out on to the moon. A place she’s thought of more than many in the last four years, and especially the last two weeks.



Foreign and cold and empty, a mockery of all that it might have been, meant,
even as a whisper of memory tried to make her look for a white-glass beauty.

Allison does make her rounds of the International Moon Base, registering herself as officially here as she'd ever been in her childhood, picking up a name tag that merely reads Allison Hargreeves | Registered. It’s just too easy at most of the way into a week here not to put anything that looks like a question on it, and then have to invite the inability for much of a conversation to happen.

Avoiding the interviewers and the fans running around everywhere, for the Swear-Ins and the Space Jam, Allison acquired some food and a drink or two as she’s meandering, and lightly mingling. She spends a good deal of time on the Earth Viewing Deck, overlooking this new planet that isn’t hers, and very much still is a planet, trying and failing not to spend a lot of it wondering just what it would look like with a massive moon rock crashing into it.

From this vantage point instead of the one where it was flying at the planet, and you.

It’s beautiful, so very beautiful, but like the moon, it’s a cold beautiful,
that makes her feel more alone, more in the wrong place, not less.

She chooses to watch small portions of a number of the Space Jam pieces while she’s around, especially the team events her brother, Ben, is in. She is taking note of several things, for several reasons, of everyone out there, during the Battle Royale. Getting dragged into a spontaneously unplanned bout of laser tag with her family, that’s just a bit reminiscent of one of their recent shootout-attacks back home.


When the sirens go off and robots attack, Allison is there to make a stand with the other heroes. She’s pulling on a suit and getting out into the fray on the lunar surface with little more than that direction needed. Coming from a childhood of fighting robots, if not in space, but on the ground, she’s entirely willing to throw into the fray fast and hard. Learning how to maneuver in the spacesuit as she goes.

Akobi is dressed in one of his finest dark grey suits, wearing a sticker that reads, "I'm an Aegis Force Agent, ask me anything." He's chosen this moment to step away from the crowds of the slam and get some space to himself-- or relatively to himself, as it seems he's not the only one who's had the idea to come up here just now.

He steps up beside the beautiful young woman, and eases into conversation.

"It's not even my planet, but you must admit, it's a beautiful view."

The last swear-in on the moon had ended in disaster, but Kang is cautiously hopeful that this one will go smoothly. He still brings his dagger, sword, and spell components, just in case, though (the first two are stashed away with security).

Out of all the events in the Space Slam, he's most interested in the Battle Royale, laser tag, and Irritation Zone. He almost joins in on building a vehicle, but decides at the last minute to just watch instead. Anyone else that's watching these events near him may get some commentary while he munches on some snacks from The Nickel.

On the Earth Viewing Deck, he can be found staring down at the planet and talking with just about anyone who will start a conversation. He knows he's probably going to regret it, but he's wearing a name tag that says, "I am a Draconian, ask me anything." It depends on how personal the question is whether or not he actually gives an answer. He also wears a pin with a curious logo on it, and is happy to explain that it's SELF's new logo and where to get more stuff with it or information on the organization.

During the Robot Attack, he rushes over to Security to get his weapons, cursing their luck and lack of defenses. He really shouldn't have expected anything different, and he seems almost resigned at the whole situation. He chooses to stay inside, as he can't cast spells in human form and there are no suits that will fit someone like him. The Lizards are easy enough to deal with, but he has to be careful with the Copycats. He sees what they do to another imPort, and while being reduced to a baseline human is bad enough, they really don't need robotic draconians flying around and making things worse. Once the threat is dealt with, he gets a few minor cuts and scrapes taken care of and goes home for a proper drink.

Luther's only just finished affixing his own tag (I'm a former child superhero, ask me anything) when he catches sight of the massive reptilian creature, and out of sheer surprise, he fumbles his sharpie and drops it. With the decreased gravity, though, it falls slowly enough that he's able to grab it again and then stare, agog.

He glances back and forth, checking to see if anyone else is going to remark on the fact that there's a seven-foot, winged lizard in their midst. (Is anyone else seeing this??) But people seem mostly unfazed. At a hulking and strangely-sized 6'5" himself, Luther's just not used to looking up at someone else -- but he does now, and when Kang catches him looking, he just. Has to ask.

"So you're a..... draconian," he says, slowly and carefully, reciting the name from the tag.

[Finn is competitor in the Space Slam! Specifically, he's ended up on a team called the Star Spiders. Whatever, he'll roll on it and is probably wearing a jersey with some star spider-y logo on it. He'll be ready for any team huddles with his teammates!

He can be found at a number of competitions! Come across him - and possibly compete against him? - as he pumps himself up for events such as the battle royale, competitive karaoke, charades and the bouncy castle endurance contest! And hey, any of the other events are fair game too!

Outside of the competition, Finn can be found during his downtime checking out the snacks/drinks and possibly preparing to go on a moonwalk tour!]

[And eventually, alarms go off throughout the base, cutting the competitions short. Rather than focusing on evacuating, Finn decides to see if there's any enemy fighters he can take on. He stays within the walls of the moon base, but it's not long before he finds some fight!

Finn can be found:

- clinging to the back of a KILLER ROBOT SPACE LIZARD that is trying to buck him off - while he's trying to pierce it with a makeshift sword!
- fallen before a copycat droid, which takes on the form of a very metallic-looking Finn that has one extra metallic arm! Finn still has his own mechanical arm, but it's been rendered inert. So he could really probably use a hand against this!
- or coming to the aid of someone else who is fighting either of those enemies!]

Swear-In

Al's perfectly fine with this being a no-weapons-allowed event. He knows he's more than capable of transmuting if need be, though he hopes that it won't come down to that. It's hard to build the trust of the public and imPorts alike after what had happened the last time they'd had a swear-in on the moon.

Laser Tag is Al's sport of choice today, though he's not very good at it. He'd never learned how to aim and shoot a gun, finding them distasteful, and the reduced gravity means his usual ability to dodge and hide is hindered. Still, he has lots of fun, and if he ends up transmuting the barriers and walls to mix up the experience for the other attendees... he'll never tell.

He also visits the cooking contest, seeing as how he's always up for a good meal.

Al can also be found at the Earth Viewing, proudly wearing a badge advertising his affiliation with the Aegis Force, trying his best to answer any questions.


Attack

Al should have guessed that this evening just wasn't going to be simple, as soon as sirens begin going off.

Thankfully, he'd mentally prepared for this sort of contingency. He can be found helping people back to the Porter and taking on some robot lizards via busting them up with alchemy, and transmutes simple weapons such as spears and knives from the wreckage- though as the battle goes on, he shifts his attention to repairing breaches with his alchemy, knowing they won't have much of a chance if they're freezing or choking to death from exposure.

In between matches, Jacob pulls Al aside while the scores from their last fray are being posted, looking concerned. Aegis is reported as having taken a lot of hits, and plenty of those were aimed at Al.

"Hey," he says. "It's your first time playing this, right? Mind if I give you some pointers?"

He's glad you're having fun Al, but also he really likes it when Aegis wins.

[she won't be very approachable during swear-in unless you're keen on talking about how utterly decked out in plate armor and weaponry she is! which is fine -- she's a polite lady, she won't snub you. but she's nervous, and it plays on her face when she thinks no one is looking. bad things happened up here before...

...and they happen again. she is immediately there in the fray, primarily clearing escape routes by way of bullying into machines to clear the path and wedging Falchion into the gaps of metal to seize their movement.

these sorts of enemies, though...it's not the same as fighting armored monsters or humans. there's no real soft, yielding flesh underneath to connect with -- no lungs to knock the wind out of, no arteries to slash. this is not the type of enemy she specializes in, and the excessive use of brute force is going to wear her out faster than she can keep up.

fine, then, she thinks. she'll just make herself a soft target and peel attention away from those needing to escape and others needing rescue!

but she can't keep this up on her own.]

...okay, archie's not an expert, but he's good at moving around the battlefield and his pokémon are strong enough to do some damage and get people out the way. it's sharpedo that slams into the robot infront of lucina with a furious roar. weird, right? archie had lobbed its pokéball forward and released it, using the momentum for it to bite hard into the mechanisms. sharpedos can bite through solid steel. it almost bisects the thing. it disappears in a flash of red light as archie recalls it, aiming a kick at the lizard's head.

When Luther steps through the Porter, he’s instantly hit by the familiar sensation of of lessened gravity, and the ungainly bulk of his body just becoming lighter. This lunar base is large and sprawling compared to the cramped, claustrophobic base he’d lived in, and as a result, he’s left wide-eyed and awed. (Like a small kid all over again, starry-eyed at space.)

So he’s determined to wander and see everything. He spends some time at the Earth-viewing dock: signing the paperwork to get registered; distracted by staring at the planet below them, lost in his thoughts; keeping an eye open for people wearing the Aegis Force insignias; and eventually donning a tag saying I’m a former child superhero, ask me anything.

He takes refuge in front of screens and watches a few of the space slam events with other spectators, particularly the battle royale, thoughtfully sizing up others’ capabilities.

During his roaming, he accidentally winds up in the lunar disco and absolutely panics and sticks to the side of the room like glue, aggressively nursing a (totally ineffectual) drink before fleeing. (You can’t convince him to dance, but pls do mingle!)

For the robot attack!!, he jumps into action more out of muscle-memory than conscious decision — his childhood was spent fighting murderous robots, after all — and with no gear. He just punches them and they go flying, far further than a regular human should’ve been able to do. He would shelter and protect any civilians or less-powered folks around, and team up with anyone around who’s also fighting... and seems kinda weirdly gung-ho and happy about it?

Among the list of people being sheltered during the attack is Ruby. Once she was sure the majority of people were evacuated she decided to go deeper in and see if she could help out any stragglers. For the most part she'd been fine, avoiding the robots at the best of times, and distracting them just long enough to let a hiding bystander escape before she sped away from danger herself.

Her luck ran thin when two things occurred. First she found a civilian who had apparently sprained their ankle pretty badly - though it was lucky they were petite enough it wasn't a pipe-dream for Ruby to act as a living crutch. The second thing that happened was that the moment she looked up from the civilian in question she found one of the copycat robots stalking her way.

She could make all the excuses to herself that she wanted for why she hadn't scouted the immediate area before taking the time to help the person practically hanging from her neck, but that did nothing to change the fact that she was in immediate danger. When the person beside her noticed the robot they clung even harder to Ruby, making it unlikely she would be able to de-tangle herself from them in time to lead the damn thing away.

Ruby braced herself for the attack as the false-feline leapt.

Then came the punch, causing the thing's trajectory to change drastically. Instead of hitting Ruby, it met with a nearby wall.

"Ne! Thanks!" Ruby shouted to her ally (not rescuer, no, she was the one doing the rescuing and anyone else doing the same thing or aiding in any sort of way was simply on the same side). "Can you cover me until I get this person to someone who can take them the rest of the way?"

Robot Attack

[So... the thing about the no-weapons rule... Fuu was perfectly in approval of it, and she would have been only too happy to surrender her glove jewel if security had asked for it. But they didn't recognize it for what it was, and so she decided it might be best not to reveal that. It's not like they could have picked up her sword without it, and all of Commander Taylor's optimism aside, she's been to too many Swear-Ins.

After all, she has a very large mechanized guardian spirit sitting in a dimensional pocket right over her heart, one who is sentient and will absolutely not consent to being left behind, so a sword and bow are... minimal, compared to that.

That said, she's going to be relying on her magic first and foremost, which means she's staying inside the base. If you seem to be in distress, she'll run over with a shield, and/or a healing! Otherwise, she is busy KNOCKING DOWN ROBOTS or restraining them, and trying to smash the eggs into walls to break them before they can do what they do.]

[ Here's the thing: Magnus likes all of his sweet gear. He's got about a dozen pointy things on him at all times. It works for him! It makes him feel secure, it makes him feel safe, and more than that, they're incredibly cool. He knew the moment he relinquished them that he was going to want them back.

But he didn't want them back enough to run from a fight. Maybe he will, if he feels as though he's overwhelmed, but for the time being? These robots are gonna catch these hands. So while Fuu is heading off a robot of her own, she may see Magnus... oh dear...

He's being quite loud as he stomps one robot to the ground, grabs its arm with both hands and slowly yanks it off with the screech of metal on metal and the snap of wires breaking. His stylish one-liner seems to be: ] Rrrrrrrraaaaaaaarrghhh!!!

1. Laser Tag

These weren't lasers. Not proper ones. He'd known that going in, as an Aegis Force member he'd been briefed on the plans and all, but it was still... oddly disappointing.

On the other hand, civvies were going to be involved, so on-balance it was a good thing everyone was going to be running around with fake guns. They were tuned infrared so no one would even get blinded either.

And real laser weaponry was an absolute power hog if you wanted get it strong enough to be worth a damn.

Even so, rules of laser weapons still applied. Unlike blasters with their compressed particle beams, lasers had no travel time and no kick. That meant it was going to be physically easy to work with his aiming power on this, but he'd have to fight his own muscle memory. He wouldn't need to brace or square up, he could fire from the hip without strain. And the last time he'd practiced low-G was for the Alke, so this was going to be a challenge.

Laser looked over, target vest secure, teammate--right there. "Final checks complete. Ready?"

2. Battle Royale

He'd gotten leave to participate in this one, but everyone had agreed on some restrictions. Both because of the look of the thing, and he didn't want a repeat of the sparring incident with Skywalker.

So. No Rebels, no Jedi. Keep Imperial hands clean, here. Follow the rules of engagement to the letter. Don't treat this like combat.

That didn't mean he wasn't going to try and win.

3. Basketball

Is he going to play? Maybe. He's certainly there. Is does he actually look ready? No. What's he doing?

4. Robots

When the siren sounded, he armored up. It was reflexive, barely any thought before it appeared on him. That wasn't a klaxon they'd been briefed on.

they should've been, though. "I can take a forward position. I'm all armored up, I can buy some time," his voice had gone clipped and curt. "Fifteen minutes of air in this as needed for vacuum deployment and depressurization."

And he's itching< to move. Time to go to work.

5. Friendlies

There was a flash of white armor, across the room, and he reflexively held fire. A stormtrooper? With a sergeant's pauldron. What were they--

The E-11 in the sergeant's hands came up, and he instinctively dove for cover behind a counter, turning to look for more robots behind him. None.

But the shooting wasn't stopping, going right above his head, smacking into his cover. Internal comms. Got to talk to them. "Sergeant TK-622 at your target point, Hold fire, hold fire!" No response. They were laying down suppression on him.

And they weren't listening. Might not be on the same channel. He changed over to public, boosting the volume to be heard over the shots. "Trooper! Friendly unit, hold your fire!" Who was this? Was this Finn, reconditioned? That was the most likely answer.

"Hold your fire or I will be forced to respond!" He heard a second E-11 open up. There was more than one of them, and they were advancing on him.

One of the Copycat troopers headed 622's way suddenly takes a headshot, piercing through the helmet because in a fit of caution, Ashley brought one of the armory's sniper rifles with better penetration. Then the closest to him also drops from a headshot.

Ashley peeks out from behind a pillar.

"622, those are robots," she calls. "Respond!"

Advantage of being a technopath: She can sense the robots. The real thing, not so much.

[You'd be hard pressed to find someone more legitimately hyped to be on Luna than Cayde, who has been itching to go starside again, and found that previous Lunar Swear-in incident to be among the least awful tragedies that will ever happen on Earth's Moon.

He is not hype to give up his weapons, and grumbles quite loudly at turning over his sidearm and knife that he wears on his belt. Aside from that, however, you're likely to find him in good spirits.]

[Wherever you find a crowd of onlookers for the days competition, Cayde will be among the crowd, exchanging cash with various bookies. Looks like he put down a lot of money against your team...]

II. Laser Tag Rumble

["Folks used to get awful angry at me for helpin'. Everyone's got an ego in the Crucible, I guess. Or could be I was really good at helpin'."

Cayde is an ass who is going to steal your hard won points by sniping in at the last second and dodging away. He's a little shit, doesn't play fair, and isn't sorry.]

III. Lunar Disco Mingle

[You can find Cayde stocking up on snacks and generally having a ball. From time to time he will pause and stare up at the stars. You can overhear him talk to his Ghost.]

IV. Moonwalk

[Cayde avoids the hamster ball option and opts to take a jaunt on his own two legs. He doesn't pay attention to the tour at all—he knows his way around the Moon. He chooses instead to Earthwatch.]

V. All-Out Robot Lizard Attack

[After scrambling to retrieve his gear, Cayde makes his way out to the Lunar surface to make his stand—there's no clearer place for a Guardian to be. He hops out of a commandeered buggie, calling and firing the Golden Gun before he can hit the surface. There might have been a yee-haw involved, who can say.

A lizard tosses an egg at him, and he ducks out of instinct. It breaks against a wall, which immediately begins to corrode beneath the impact.]

Ohhhh ... that's. That's not good, is it?

[The armor Darin made Ashley can protect her from impact and projectiles, but it's not space-rated like her hardsuits back home. With Shepard's (first?) death on her mind recently thanks to telling Cayde the story of her clone, she opts to defend the base and those evacuating from anything that makes it inside. Inside the base, there's cover for her to set up a sniper's nest or three, and without as many robots coming in at once, it's easier on her technopathy for her to focus on a smaller area.

[But she can tell when the surface team ends up inside, not just because there's more and more robots around, but because she looks up at Cayde before she realizes what she's doing. It's not that Ashley actively tracks him or Sundance with her power. She's just so familiar now with how they show up in her technopathy that when one or the other comes within whatever range she's paying attention to, she knows.

[She waves him over to the table she's shoved over onto its side to use as cover.]

Cayde! Cover me, I have an idea.

[An idea she's been working on and trying on her own with the few robots making it inside at a time, but with more of them here than she can take at once (weird how she can only control a few of them at a time), she definitely needs someone else watching her back.]

So he's there at the window, beaming down with fond delight at the Earth below. Despite the fact that he's luckily enough to enjoy this view on a regular basis, it never gets old. ]

[ Shit, shit, shit. This is one situation that Apollo definitely can't punch his way out of. In fact right now he'd have problems punching even a moderately sized killer robot. He can't fly, he can't beat things up, he can't laser anything... so what exactly is Apollo good for? No, don't answer that.

He dives for cover behind an upturned table, realising with a fresh surge of anger that he's actually going to have to focus on not being hit for once. His solarpowered invulnerability is currently being worn by a thieving bastard robot, and Apollo wants it back.

He risks a glance over the table at the Apollo!robot, who's currently raining solarcharged destruction on the far side of the dome. Apollo glares briefly (damn it, that's HIS laserbeam eye power) before ducking back behind cover. ]

I can't believe I'm saying this, but -- [ he grits his teeth - oh, his pride. ] -- someone find me a weapon. That bastard needs to be put down.

Come on and SLAM: Sports and Wandering
Making it through security well enough, Ben was excited about being on the Moon. It was new for him. "First ghost on the Moon, Ben." He told himself as he did Jump and reached the ceiling of the security center. Way. Cool. Mark that one off the bucket list.

Ben somehow ended up on TWO teams. Nova Blast and The Star Spiders (Praise the Web Mistress, who weaves the threads of life in her many limbs). Not that he minded but if he was going to go face to face with teams he'd go with the one that had the least players in it (Star Spiders). Otherwise, he was here for fun.

He was teamed with strangers for him (Kasia Nyx, Adora, Brandon Heat, Ruby Nakamura. And also Finn Mertens, Foggy Nelson and Abigail Hobbs? Who were these people, he wanted to meet them all).

Ben could be found in the locker rooms between events. He was especially interested in the Battle Royale and to see what it would be like to let the Horrors out in low gravity. Lazer Tag looked exceptionally fun. And he had never seen a bounce castle so huge before. How does not know how the hell a bounce castle endurance contest goes, but he's going to jump his heart out. And Volley ball on the god damn MOON. In lunar dust. He was so here for that. Count him in.

If team mates want to do something, that would be great, but even if they aren't around he's willing to play games with other people as well.

The Lunar Disco Was for sure a place that Ben was going to go to. the music wasn't too bad, and he's learned to enjoy getting his groove on. Dancing alone or with others, it doesn't matter to him.

He's just here for a good time. Come join him somewhere!

When the Sirens go off, Ben has a moment of panic, looking around for Klaus of all people. A feeling that he has to protect his brother first before all else. On the coat tails of that are his siblings. All of which were here, if he remembered right. Either way, he moves to the science dome, slipping easily into fighting mode.

He was already in a suit, because he had been out on a space walk, but now he tried to run in the luggy suit with out jumping too high. Something was attacking and now was the time to see if being a ghost on the moon was going to help any.

Once at the Science Dome, he saw a group of people crying out inside as something fell from above and down on them. He ghosted, slipping through the help those people. UnGhosting to come to full flesh Ben once again. He unzipped the suit and much to the horror of a couple of scientists, the Horrors were unleashed. Long tentacles that shot out from his belly and into the room. Three of which wrapped around the large ventilation shaft that had fallen with the inner roof, pushing it off the people under it. The fourth tentacle reaching to try and help people out, clearing them.

Ben will gladly help people who are stuck somewhere. If not inside the dome, then outside of it. He's not too worried about rips to his suit, but he is worried about losing his powers. As much as he isn't a fan of his powers, he doesn't hate them.

This isn't the adventure he was looking for, but battle on the moon is going on and being crossed off his bucket list.

Lazer Tag

[One of the pluses to being Batman was that Kirk's gotten being fast and hiding in the shadows down to a goddamn science. Another is that he has perfect vision in the dark.

He's decided to use the aforementioned skills in a friendly game of lazer tag in an attempt to get into the whole spirit of these. Though unenthusiastic at first, by the time he stumbles upon Ben as they both turn a corner he's rather gotten into it.

Harry is there, staring around at everything, and smiling like a loon. The moon! For real! He loves it, and he spends a lot of time looking outward at the moonscape, then turns back to look at those swearing in, smiling as he sees them choose this life. And remember who they are, and who is watching them.
its a good time, and he is drinking a tall glass of coca cola which stays cold no matter how long he holds it.

Basketball
He had no desire to play, but when one team fields a shorter group than the other, he steps in and smiles as he goes to the court. And when things turn out weird? He is definitely no longer so happy. But against robots, his team will find all of their shots hit the basket, and opponents will feel just a little weighted down.

His stomach is churning by this time, and the idea that something bad is coming to ruin this day is really starting to creep in on him.

Fighting Inside

When the fighting breaks out, Harry runs toward it. He directs people toward the exits as he runs, and skids around one corner to find a civilian running from a robot. Ice and fire follow one another, over the civilian's head, and an air blast shoves the thing into a wall, to finish it, and he brushes off the shaken civilian, helping them back toward the doors.

He keeps moving, not staying any one place for long, unsure why the robots have attacked and uneasy about letting loose on these things to end them cleanly because of the base around them. Even now, using his magic is dangerous around so much machinery. He has to carefully measure each blast, each action, lest he short out the systems helping keep everyone else alive.

Fighting Outside the Base

It is when Harry comes outside during the battle that he lets his frustration with these things disrupting the party loose. Surrounded by a bubble of air that glitters as he moves, he hurls fire and ice at the robots, and is there to back up anyone who needs it, He leaps, spins, and sometimes floats, hurling energy at the things that turned a good day into a disaster.

And if he is tired, he will not show it until every damn robot is gone.

Woden -- who had something of a mysterious reputation, and a penchant for doing some pretty bad things, just hapepened to come to this swear-in in his full regalia, which meant neon lights and everything. ]

A. Laser Tag

He thought it'd be fun, really. Finn hadn't had the excuse to shoot anything in a long time and he never thought he'd miss the marksmanship. He hadn't, actually, until he saw the laser tag thing set up. It looked fun!

Once he was there and in the thick of a free-for-all, though, he realized it was entirely too much like training when he was younger. He'd probably even done simulations in the very same environment. If it wasn't for the fake blaster and his civilian clothes, he'd probably be having a panic attack in the middle of this whole "game."

Instead, he was just taking it way too seriously. Not in the sense of a sore loser, but he was definitely falling back on his training to tuck into cover and hit targets with an expert eye. He might be so in the zone, in fact, that he might forget the others aren't simulations.

So if you come around the wrong corner and end up with a foot in the chest or back-end of a blaster to the face-... Well-... He's very sorry...

B. Disco

Finn had never been dancing before. So far, he didn't really see the appeal. He had gotten himself a drink, though, and sipped on that as he weaved around the crowd.

Even though he didn't really get it, he still watched people on the dance floor. They looked like they were having a lot of fun, but he wasn't really sure how to move the way they were. It wasn't that a sense of self-consciousness was holding him back, though. He simply wanted to observe for now...

Until he had about two more drinks in him, that is.

C. Earth Viewing Deck

He had stared for a while at the nametags but couldn't bring himself to do it. The whole reason he was at this deck was to be a part of representing Aegis, even if he was the newest member. He wanted to show a little loyalty, maybe try to prove himself or something. Show he cared.

Yet, he couldn't bring himself to take up the nametag.

That was all right with him, though. Not three feet into the room had he found something else to preoccupy his thoughts. The view of Earth. He'd expected to see it like this, of course, but he didn't expect the wave of nostalgia to hit him so violently.

Finn walked over to the windows and looked out to the planet. For the first time since arriving, he actually felt a little homesick... and didn't entirely understand why.

D. Base Defense

While it had initially felt odd being unarmed at all times in civilian life, Finn had more or less forced himself to get used to it. As such, he had no weapons at the security check for them to take, meaning he was totally unarmed when the base was attacked.

Thanks to his teleporting abilities, he was able to get a lot of cover and fortifications up before the hostiles made their way inside. He'd seen one person lose their powers to these things already and he did not want to see teleporting killer robots all over the place, so he was mostly acting as transport or evac to anyone around.

What he really needed was a blaster, though. Or a gun, rather. They called them guns here. Whatever. He needed a weapon.

Jacob approaches Finn from behind, smiling as he greets one of his team's newest recruits. It was a shame to lose Sabriel to the Porter, but at least it meant that Jacob and Finn could work together side-by-side. And Jacob has high hopes for his fellow space-marine-who-defected-from-awful-people-Aegis-agent.

"Hell of a view, isn't it?" He says fondly as he stands beside Finn. "Back before Aegis started, I'd come up here on my days off. And just sit for a while."

These days of course, Jacob's days off are too few and far between to justify sitting around on the Moon. But at least he has this event as a golden excuse to visit one of his favourite places.

[Jean has spent some time in space so there’s no excitement in visiting the base, but it is nice. She doesn’t bother with adjusting to the lower gravity instead, she floats a couple of inches or higher -- if trying to get past a crowd of people -- above the ground. At first, it feels weird to be so open with the use of her powers. She’s spent so long trying blend in and hide so she doesn’t gather too much attention. It’s freeing.

Between the events she’s interested in she can be found around the designated areas.]

[After taking a look at the various events Jean decides to sign up a two versus two game with a randomized partner. It sounds fun and if there’s something her life has been lacking as of late, it’s fun. After signing up she’s told to check back in about an hour for her assigned partner.]

[Entering any sort of debate about registering versus unsettled is likely a mistake, but Jean decides to see if anyone can give her a good enough reason to register. So far she’s been on the fence. To her registering just sounds like an extra step that unnecessary when it feels like the government is already keeping tabs on them.]

[When the attack breaks out Jean is quick to jump into action. She’s spent too many hours training to make a run for the transporter and leave others to do the fighting. But there’s also a lot of folks without powers -- or combat training -- that need help so that’s where she focuses her attention to start.

Once she feels the evacuees are safe she moves onto searching for anyone that needs help by doing a psisweep of the area. Or when not aiding someone who has found themselves in a sticky situation she moves onto tearing apart some of the robots with her telekinesis.]

After that, he starts to explore, trotting over with a grin to talk with anyone he knows, and nodding with reasonable friendliness/politeness to anyone who doesn't who approaches him.]

[A competitive spirit and loads of curiosity prompt Roxas to try all sorts of activities at the swear-in. He's okay-ish at basketball despite not knowing the rules; has fun at laser tag despite not having much aim to speak of; absolutely sucks at charades; and totally kick ass at karaoke despite being red in the face the whole time.]

[Roxas will stammer his way through an "um, I just registered because they had my information anyway and I thought it would help me figure out where to go" but otherwise excuses himself to the window, staring out at the planet for a long time. If approached, he'll speak quietly (if he notices the other person at all, which is about 50-50 odds) and without turning.]

If Earth is down there, and we're up here, so that mean we went to a whole different world?

[As soon as Roxas realizes what's going on, he thrusts his hands out to the side and calls both Keyblades in twin flashes of light. He's not about to try fighting on the moon, and he's not much of a rescuer, so he makes a stand in the Science Dome, moving faster than he did in any of the physical activities from before, and not looking remotely afraid as he joins in taking down the bots.

Honestly, he's missed this.

If he spots someone go down hard, he'll do what he can to help them with a shimmering green Cure spell, but otherwise he does what he's done most of his life. He fights. And he wins.]

"I don't think so," said Ruby, not looking away from the planet below. Her anxiety was spiking, and she was trying to brute force it to stop. It worked with everything else, so why wouldn't it work here?

After taking in and letting out a deep breath she continued, this time with her logic. "I think worlds have to qualify as planets to really be worlds? Though, don't get me wrong, the moon feels like a new world, even if the science would disagree."

i. from the center of the hollow moon
[As a rule, Boba usually isn’t interested in Swear-Ins. He’s been here long enough that he’s seen plenty come and go, and from what he’s heard, most tend to be either boring or disastrous. That said, it sounds like Aegis Force went through quite a lot of effort making this one a little more… intentionally exciting. It’s enough that Boba actually shows up this time, confidence buoyed by the fact that, unlike most of the people on this backwater planet, he actually has some experience with space and space stations. If things do go south, he’ll have that advantage.

Boba doesn’t spend much, if any, time mingling. If you do encounter him, it’ll likely be in one of two places: the Battle Royale free-for-all or the laser tag arena. During the Battle Royale, you might find yourself dodging blaster bolts (set to stun, fortunately) while facing off against a rather short figure in silver-and-blue Mandalorian armor. In the laser tag arena, you’ll be facing… more of the same, actually. Just substitute blaster bolts for lasers. The kid you’re battling is a surprisingly good shot either way.]

ii. attack of the copycats (and lizards)
[Boba isn’t exactly dismayed when chaos breaks out and imPorts are called on to defend the base. If anything, he’s exhilarated. Laser Tag and the Battle Royale had been entertaining, but they were child’s play compared to actual combat. And the enemies this time are droids, so nobody will care if he’s shooting to kill. And kill he does, gunning down targets from afar before they even get within striking range.

Things get significantly more complicated when the feline droids start shapeshifting. Boba does his best to pick them off before they get the chance to change form, but there’s too many of them to land a shot on all of them. He growls in frustration as he has to hold his fire yet again after seeing another pair of identical imPorts locked in battle, unable to tell which is the original. He makes up his mind to focus on the lizard droids for now, directing his attention towards one busily planting acid bombs. He preemptively ducks behind cover, planning to open fire from a position where he can avoid its lasers—only to bump into another figure crouched behind the same fallen debris.]

Watch it— [Boba snaps, only to turn his head and freeze in place before he can continue. Staring back at him is a familiar black visor and as Boba jumps back, the figure rises to reveal silver-and-blue armor identical to his own.

Boba knows it’s a trick, but his blaster still stays stuck by his side as the figure advances. Telling himself it’s a droid doesn’t do anything when it looks so very human. When, in that armor, it looks like a very specific human indeed. Before Boba can react, it raises its own weapon in a single fluid motion—and fires. Boba throws himself to the side, but the bolt still catches him in the shoulder and he gasps in pain. He lands with a tight roll, white-hot agony lancing from his shoulder down his arm as he rights himself. He tries to raise his blaster and return fire, but the droid has the advantage now and forces him to retreat with another volley of blaster bolts.

He all but dives behind the closest cover he can find, discovering another imPort there as well. He points his blaster at them, voice coming out in a pained hiss under his helmet.]

If you’re real, you better prove it fast.

[ Ruby's hands go up quickly - she's unarmed, and next to her is a civilian holding his hand over his own mouth. ]

Ruby Nakamura. I was playing laser tag, and I was in Irritation Lane. I'm currently trying to help civilians escape, and I would really like to avoid being shot in the face.

[ Okay. So. Maybe she was a little stressed, and when she was stressed, she got a little snarky. But her current evacuee, bless his little heart, had been particularly hard to keep from just running out into the middle of danger. At least for now she'd managed to keep her voice down to a whisper's volume instead of giving in to the urge to shout at the new arrival.

Honestly, having a gun in her face felt a little nostalgic, even if it was clearly not the type of gun she was used to. ]

Upon stepping out of the porter Ruby was beset by a niggling feeling of anxiety. The difference in gravity made it hard to mistake herself for being on earth. She made sure to pace around a little to adapt before heading to security. Getting through was hardly a challenge - she had no weapons, even opting to leave her lighter in her room despite the illogical fear that someone might break in to steal it.

She signed up for laser tag and Irritation Lane before going to try the food and managed to get a hold of a non-alcoholic cocktail. She eats away from the bulk of the crowd, occasionally making approving sounds as she tries the things on her plate.

After about an hour she heads back to the signups and finds out she's been put on two teams, team NOVA BLAST and team THE VOID CHALLENGERS. She takes stock of the names on the teams and sets about to trying to find her team mates. If the two teams faced each other she was probably going to stay on the Void Challengers for that round, but otherwise she was going to take part in as many rounds as she could.

First up is Laser Tag and she takes part in both the team and free-for all matches, using her small size and her good aim to her advantage - even if the latter would be better if she'd just finally get new glasses. She has a tendency to shoot from cover, then run. During one match, she and another imPort seem to take turns stalking each other, all while racking up points against anyone else who gets in the way. Ruby seems to be having too much fun, taking the need to adapt to the lower gravity as a challenge.

That fun ends once Irritation Lane starts. Helping build the cart was easy enough, and she didn't feel too bad once she got the suit on. When they'd been on the moon's surface for about a minute however she all but curled up in the back seat hyperventilating, unable to take time to shoot due to her mind repeating over and over again the mental image of her suit malfunctioning and her either suffocating to death or experiencing explosive decompression first hand. Once the team is back indoors she rushes a quick apology before stripping herself of the space suit and running off with a scream muffled by her hands.

For a short time she could be found in the locker rooms, soaking naked under a shower head as she occasionally repeated the gesture of screaming into her hands between attempting to catch her breath.

Not being one to learn her lesson about fear, she spends some time on the Earth Viewing Deck attempting to force her fear to go away by actively forcing herself to face it. Sort of. Her nametag says "I'm registered like dogs. Change my mind!".

After taking some time to drown her sorrow over failure in more food she decides to leave. She doesn't get very far when the sirens go off. Robots are attacking and she decides to stick around to help evacuate. While she doesn't use her powers, she actively interacts with anyone who can provide cover for her while she helps civilians get out of there. And when she doesn't have someone to act as cover? Well, she acts as a distraction so that the robots won't bother the people who don't have practice dodging things that are faster than they are.

In the aftermath Ruby sits down on a couch that has seen better days, lets out a small yell of frustration, and lays down with all the drama a teenage girl is capable of mustering.

After about 30 minutes, she gets ready to leave (possibly taking some leftovers with her if she can) and gets her butt back to DeChima.

Akobi has mostly just been mingling this evening, not participating in the sports or games for the most part. He has been watching, though, and felt concerned when he saw a familiar young woman run across the floor, looking distressed. He attempts to follow her, however when it becomes clear she's gone into the women's locker rooms, he gives up the chase.

He does seek her out later in the evening, in a quieter section of the moon base, just to check up on her.

"Good evening, Miss Nakamura. Enjoying the view?"

Wolfwood doesn't really know what to expect from, well, any of this. The moon base, the government involvement, the whole "playing games for charity" thing. But he's curious. About travel between Earth and the moon, about the moon itself, and about the whole role imPorts are expected to play. And if participating is helping charity somehow, that's not bad.

The games, thankfully, are pretty easy to pick up. He stays close to the walls at the start of laser tag, getting a feel for the space and his opponents. It's not too long, though, before he's diving right in and trying to simply build up momentum while dodging what he can. The lower gravity makes this an interesting challenge. In the preparations for Irritation Lane, Wolfwood gravitates immediately towards one of the hover cycles, a smile spreading over his face. "That almost makes it too easy."

Once the games are wrapping up, he figures he has time to check out the Earth Viewing Deck properly. He has no intention of Registering (being essentially abducted and immediately asked to be someone else's tool leaves a pretty bad taste in his mouth), so he bypasses those tables entirely. But the view is amazing. All that water makes for a stunning blue. He tucks his hands in his pockets, commenting, "it just makes you want to go back."

But something had to happen, didn't it? It's not that Wolfwood was necessarily expecting that from a Swear-In (though he heard enough about the last one here to know that it was a distinct possibility), it's more just what he expects from life. At least, wherever he ends up.

When the attack starts, Wolfwood's first instinct is to head out to meet the threat. But is that the most immediately useful thing to do? There are a lot of civilians here, and they'll need a line of defense if anything breaks through or turns out to be closer than the announcement is suggesting. So he stations himself in front of one of the most crowded hallways as evacuees push down it on the way to the Porter. Holding out his right hand, he's suddenly gripping a strap attached to what seems to be a wrapped cross, only about half a foot shorter than he is. With a click undoing a buckle on one of the many straps, the wrappings fall away to reveal that this is, in fact, a very large gun. Good thing this was the first power he tested - he knows the Punisher should be in working order. Once the robots inevitably turn up, he switches between shooting at their feet and legs (probably don't want to risk hitting anything other than the robots and the floor, here) and swinging the entire gun around by a strap to block flying shrapnel from getting to the evacuees (unfortunately, not as effective against lasers).

Team Void Challengers

On one hand, during Laser tag she had wanted to ask him what the hell he was doing being away from cover so much. On the other hand, it turned out it worked very well for him, which surprised her because in her mind he was far too tall and thus too easy of a target to pull it off. In the end, she'd simply offered him a first bump after the rounds they both competed in before she wandered off to her next round.

When it was time for the building part of Irritation Lane she gave him a curious look, actually speaking to him for the first time.

"Too easy?" she inquired, looking more than a little out of her element as she glanced over all of the available materials.

She was not a mechanic. While she could do a lot of things with whatever she was given, working on a vehicle and expecting it to come out running even vaguely proper was a long-shot. Even hot wiring a relatively new vehicle was questionable when she was involved.

He doesn't, technically, have to be here. There's no professional obligation compelling Brandon to attend Swear-Ins now. But he hadn't come to the last one on the Moon Base, had only been able to watch as the chaos unfolded on the news. If something happens, he doesn't want to be watching again.

It's been years since he played basketball, and he finds he's a bit hazy on the rules. Is it two or three steps you can take without dribbling? He probably should have checked that before the game. He's more at home in the battle royale and laser tag, using some of the boxing knowledge he's gained here in the former and focusing on providing covering fire for his teammates in the latter.

The focus on teamwork is something he appreciates, actually. Still, he's more than a little relieved when the games are over and he can more easily fade into the background of the ongoing events - the kind of attention imPorts get still isn't something he's comfortable with. He stops by the Earth Viewing Deck, where he tries to politely decline an enthusiastic volunteer insistently offering him a "I live in Maurtia Falls, ask me about it!" name tag.

Brandon isn't surprised when the sirens go off. He simply makes his way to security as quickly as he can, retrieving the two pistols he'd surrendered when he arrived. In spite of a complete lack of experience in a spacesuit, he volunteers to join the group venturing out onto the lunar surface to stop the robots from reaching the base. He's under-equipped for the situation, though - if he sees someone with weapons that appear to be better suited to space, he may ask if there are any spares.

Of course, they're pushed back to the base eventually. Brandon moves more quickly here, using the walls and furniture as cover while attempting to keep the robots from advancing deeper into the base. But it's still not enough to entirely avoid a beam from one of the copycat droids he's shooting at. The robotic cat slowly morphs into Brandon's shape and...vanishes. At least to normal eyesight. With an expression somewhere between a glare and a grimace, Brandon holsters one of his pistols and takes out...his communicator? It almost looks like he's trying to shoot video of the scene.

Yusei still really hasn't got the hang of the finer bits of wind manipulation. But he's got the know-how to make a barrier, and the momentum in his veins means he's not going to run out of energy anytime soon. The result is a constantly whirling dome of glittering wind around his body, repelling the droids that try and come at him with the loud clanging and screeching of metal. Occasionally, he tries to contort the dome into something to strike the enemy with, but more often than not it's safer for him to keep the shield up.

That vigilance proves to be very helpful, as the invisible droid that Brandon's following with his camera ends up crashing right into the dome and bounces off - not injured enough to be taken out of the battle, but decidedly scuffed. Despite being invisible, it does make an audible sound that draws Yusei's attention. He knits his brows in confusion, unable to see what had hit his barrier.

"What the hell was that?!"
