[That said, he kind of does know what she means. It isn't that he hates doing the work, but he is getting restless.]
And what is the typical narrative, exactly?
[Because "normal narrative" went out the window for Roland the second he saw the missile fly past his motorcade.]

Well, I'm not sure about what's conventional for your world, but for what I knew of mine? Most folks never had to worry about their life being immediately shaken all out-of-sorts by way of lackadaisical fate-gods plucking people on a whim. Any world-shaking changes tended to stay in that world, so your path tends to stay rather...easier to forecast, mm?
It's only the special or...specifically cursed sorts who seem to get rattled by fate more than normal.

No one forced him. He created Evermore from nothing, and helped to save his world. He might be young but he's extremely capable.
[Sure, Roland wrote most of the policies, but he was just helping.]
I like to think of it as we were all chosen to help this world for a reason. Besides, if what they say is true, and when you go home you forget all about your time here--whose to say that a lot more "normal" people didn't have adventures just like we did?

Perhaps it's not about us, but the people here and the lives that we change. Perhaps it inspires our subconscious to work in a different path.
[Perhaps it's all a colossal joke played on them by the universe.]
What's the Feywild?

The things you do for others doesn't only impact them after you die, Cecelia. That's not how that works.

Why should I have to? It's dumb! Why can't you just agree that it's dumb? Because it is.

Fine, then it's dumb.
[Is he just saying this to make her feel better? You bet!]

stiffly:] I've got work now, so I'm turning here. I suppose that means farewell?

I'm sure we'll run into each other again.
Thanks again for the help, Cecelia.
