A. Around Nonah

Life wasn't all that bad for Finn lately. He got up with the sun, sometimes earlier, did a lap around Base One and ate breakfast. Then it was work at the local aquarium, sometimes shopping, and getting home in time to make a small, basic dinner. He read books, looked up more recipes, planned out how to paint his next room, then tried to sleep to start the day all over again.

Mostly, he'd been thinking. Finn was quieter than usual - which could be considered damn near silent - but didn't actually mean to be. There was a lot on his mind lately, that's all.

Regardless, he could be sighted just about anywhere in town.

B. Around Jeopardy

But when Finn wasn't in Nonah, he was usually visiting Jeopardy. It's not that he liked the town, quite the opposite in fact, but he had some business there.

At the same time, he was trying to... understand Jeopardy a little better. So sometimes he got out and around by himself, saw some of the sights, ate some of the food, tried to not look confused and a little scared the whole time- Normal stuff. So if you see a guy walking down the street with wide eyes like he'd just been scarred for life or something, don't worry too much about it. He's fine.

[ It's become part of his routine, with or without Ezra (or anyone else, for that matter). A park near NeoJedha is his usual spot - and usually in the evening, as the sun sets (not that he can see it, but still). He spends some time just - practicing. Going through the forms, slowly, one by one, his lightsaber glowing pale blue in the evening air.

When he finishes, he turns it off, hooking it back on his belt, where it always hangs, and addresses the person he senses nearby. ]

I don't have to see you to know you're there, you know. C'mon, I don't bite. What's your name?

[ He'd been on his merry way before stopping dead in his tracks at the sight of a lightsaber arcing through the air. It was chilling to see on Earth, having not spotted one since Crait, at least.

Finn approached but said nothing, watching the moves until the unfamiliar man eventually stopped and sheathed the weapon. ]

I- [ Caught. He cleared his throat and stepped closer. ] I'm Finn. You have a lightsaber?

I do. And you know what a lightsaber is.

[ Kanan, blind as ever but still incredibly expressive, raises an eyebrow in the man's direction. Curiosity colors his voice. ]

So I'm going to assume you're another from our galaxy. I'm Kanan Jarrus.

It's good to meet you.

[ It's at this point that he notices that Kanan's blind. He'd never met a blind person before other than the ones that became that way from an injury in training. But he shakes the thought and doesn't bother thinking too much on this. ]

How do you have a lightsaber here? Wait, do you have the force?

[ A million questions, but he can't help it. ]

I have my lightsaber here because I had it back home. Because I'm a Jedi.

[ Many, many questions. Kanan is... actually kind of used to it by now? It's okay. He tends to get lots of questions when he's out here, so he takes it in stride.

Of course, he's also not stupid - he's aware that telling someone from his world that he's a Jedi might not get a positive reaction, and he's prepared for that as well, if it happens. ]

[ Finn's reaction isn't really positive or negative. It's more of a surprise than anything else. An actual Jedi. Someone who considered themselves to be a Jedi, not just sensitive to the Force. ]

Where you- [ He starts slowly, trying to think through what he's learned here so far. ] What era are you from? The Clone Wars? [ That's where Rex and Anakin seemed to be from. ]

I mean, if- if you don't mind me asking. Sorry. Um- It's a nice day.

[ Kanan just smiles, and gives the new guy a reassuring but brief pat on the shoulder. ]

You're fine. I'm used to it. I fought in the Clone Wars, when I was a kid. Most recently I was fighting against the Empire.

[ As confused as Finn is about Kanan's sight now, he's more interested in this man's story.

He should most definitely not mention how the Jedi didn't survive the Clone Wars. That's something he should definitely not bring up. ]

Really? Were you in the Rebellion?

[ It's probably not a good idea to Jedisplain recent history to an actual Jedi, yeah. ]

Yes, though it wasn't exactly a capital-R Rebellion for most of the time I was fighting.

[ The Rebel Alliance was still in its infancy as an actual organization when he died, after all. ]

I'm going to assume you're from the future, and wondering why you haven't heard of me. Probably because I didn't blow up any superweapons, and most of what I did was covert.

[ No shade on Luke! They all do what they gotta do. ]

I mean... I don't hear about a lot of people. The history I have heard has been purposefully skewed, so I shouldn't be surprised. But I... kind of am?

I'm from about 30 years after the Empire fell, give or take.

Ah, so you're from around the same time as Poe.

[ He shrugs vaguely. Finn may find it surprising, but he really doesn't, for a lot of reasons. And it doesn't concern him much, either. Keeping a low profile has always kind of been what Kanan does. ]

It's possible you've heard of my wife, though. Poe knew who she was. General Hera Syndulla, Phoenix squadron leader.

[ That, on the other hand, is said with a hint of pride. He loves his wife! She's great! ]

Yeah. I know Poe from home.

[ He smiles at the pride in Kanan's voice but shakes his head. ] Sorry, I, uh- I grew up kind of sheltered. I'm not surprised that Poe's heard of her, though. A general and squadron leader sounds impressive.

She's one of the best pilots in the Rebellion, that's for sure.

[ That's just a flat statement of fact. ]

So, you're part of the future Rebellion, or the resistance, whatever they call it?

The Resistance, yeah. At my point, the war's still undecided, though.

It was at mine, too. Or... is? Will be? Time is weird.

[ He waves a vague hand to indicate that he's not going to bother trying to sort it all out. ]

Your present. My past. Or that's how I've been thinking about it.

And I don't think it helps much that the Empire did its damnedest to erase a lot of things. Make people forget, or misinform them.

[ He shakes his head sadly. ]

Yeah... [ Finn could talk a lot about that subject but didn't feel that he should. In his time, there was so much lost. He knew that - everyone knew that - but being here was cluing him into how much was gone. ]

But people are starting to learn more all over again, with them gone. Not everything's lost.

That's good. Hopefully - [ He smiles faintly and shrugs. ] there are at least a few people still around who remember the important things.
