WHO: Chauncy and Cassidy
WHERE: A PUB!! In MF
WHEN: First week of January
WHAT: Drinking and being sad
WARNINGS: the above
Rye is surprisingly decent for a bar. As a whiskey bar it’s a little better off than a typical sports pub, but given Cassidy’s taste in just about everything, he had his suspicions the place would be offensive to at least some of his senses.
Turns out, it wasn’t. He probably didn't need to get dressed down a little than his usual attire, but he did anyway, for the sake of not sticking out too much in case this was a more ... "divey" sort of drinking hole. An overcoat over a polo... is as good as he can do for dressing down, anyway.
Still, it's a a decently decorated place, with a decent selection of booze. Of which, he’s already got himself a glass, and has one ready for Cassidy as well when he arrives.

"Even got me a drink ready, good man!"
A drink that he's downing in a few hefty gulps. Hopefully it wasn't too expensive because it's sure not getting savoured.

Four Lokoswill if put in front of him with the promise of a high percent.Chauncy gives Cassidy a smile, tucked away in the corner of his lips, and he lifts his own glass to take a sip from it.
"You're not subtle with your preferences, Cassidy."

"How you been holdin' up then, mate? Must be absolute bleedin' chaos in the office without me there sortin' you all out."
Yes. Of course. Chaos without him, because that's how it works.

Hilarious choice of wording, considering that both lawyers that run the firm are "sons of Chaos" technically. He doubts Cassidy knows just how spot-on he is right now.
"Absolutely. Actually, I wasn't sure about the blood packs, so I've just been leaving them in there. Do they... expire, or..."
no subject
"Ugh, yeah, probably best they got tossed. Or use 'em in your weird lawyer blood rituals, I dunno what you fellas get up to when tryna appease the justice gods."
no subject
He smirks into his drink, eyebrows raised in amusement.
"Did you want to wait for your drink to arrive to talk, or we could just forgo it entirely if you've changed your mind."
no subject
"Not much worth talkin' about. Y'know me, fella, just getting shitfaced and the like. Not much worth rememberin'."
Woe is him.
no subject
"You already implied something awful happened, so I know it's not just that. I can keep nagging you about it, or you can just be upfront. Your choice."
no subject
"Right," he remembers that admittance with a hefty sigh. Damn, him and his lack of any filter, it makes silent brooding so difficult.
"It's just. I wasn't havin' the best of times back home, and then I get back and the first thing that happens is me and me fella get into a bit of a fight. Men, eh? You murder 'em one time and they hold a bloody grudge over it."
no subject
"Is... this a murder situation in which he could have... come back from it?"
Because honestly, in this place? Who knows.
no subject
"No. Sorta made sure of that. Long story, I'll be honest, but we had a few trust issues back home. And I guess here too. You ever just... use your fella's cult to turn them against him and get him killed? Is- is that relatable content?"
Cass is managing a balance of broodiness even with the ridiculous statements. But if anyone is going to understand, surely it's gods.
IF THIS IS TOO LATE IT'S FINE
"That is not even remotely 'hashtag relatable,' no." Sorry Cassidy. Ironically, if this was a Chauncy who had even a few weeks more in his own universe under his belt, he'd be able to help navigate the situation with a bit more gusto and reassurance. But as it stands right now...
"I'm sorry. It does sound... difficult." Using it lightly, there.
NEVER TOO LATE
"I just thought maybe me and him had something good. Christ, y'never can tell. Men, eh?"
Can't live with them, can't rely on them not to murder your friends and a bunch of innocents when you're not looking. Truly hashtag relatable. Whatever! He's over it already! Except not really. He will never be over it.
"Speaking of, hows you and yours gettin' on?"
GOOD!!
"Men indeed."
Because that next part is a whole other situation.
"We're fine. He's still... adjusting, I think. The Woden situation really was upsetting to both of us." You know, when he flooded a city.
"I was hoping this place would be better for him, after what happened on our Earth, but now... I don't know. It might be worse."
no subject
"Christ, y'never can tell. I hope maybe it gets better for yeh, for the both." And he means it, he sure doesn't want anyone to have a bad time, especially not friends of his.
"I thought maybe this place would be better for me and me fella too, these days I'm not so sure. Maybe it is... maybe it just involves a whole lotta effort."
He scoffs lightly at his own comment as he adds something he thinks Chauncy is already well aware of, "Effort ain't exactly me strongest suit though."
no subject
Cassidy's struggle with effort is something he's well aware of, but in a moment of clarity despite the drinks, Chauncy doesn't point that out. Truly an inspiring moment right now.
"You're right. It does." His gaze flickers up from his drink to Cassidy's face.
"But if it's worth doing..."
no subject
A thoughtful little grunt as his gaze meets Chauncy's. There's a level of scepticism in that slight quirk of an eyebrow, but he's not going to argue the point to heavily.
"Maybe you're right. It's just... knowing if it's worth it in the first place, I 'spose. But then again, if it's enough to be considering, then I guess it's enough to at least try."
