WHO: Foggy Nelson and Padmé Amidala
WHERE: De Chima
WHEN: when the new arrivals were coming in, soooo first week or so of October.
WHAT: a continuation of this thread.
WARNINGS: none so far other than a blanket Star Wars warning (discussion of war that may or may not come up) just to be safe! will update if anything specific happens.
Please, because from what I hear, this place can be pricey.
[He's not hurting for money, and he smiles to show her he's just kidding—it's just that after years of student debt and surviving off ramen and Red Bull, and after a solid year of worrying about funds for Nelson & Murdock, Foggy can't quite get out of that mindset. He pushes the door open and gestures.]
After you.

After you.

Thank you. [ With a smile of her own, Padmé steps inside, taking stock of the café, from the patrons to the layout of the tables, comparing it immediately to the restaurants on Coruscant. They were different, and yet so much the same. She glances back at Foggy over her shoulder. ] This is my first time visiting somewhere quite like this.

Foggy shoves his hands into his pockets.]
It's kinda my first time too, I usually go for places close to my office, but someone recommended this café to me. I figured, why not?
[He shuts the door behind him now, and leads Padmé to an empty table away from the window, where someone could see.]
wow i'm sorry to fail at this so spectacularly
Following Foggy's lead, Padmé settles into a seat and folds her hands in front of her on the tabletop. ]
I'm glad we can share this experience together, then. Something new that isn't tied to the memories I no longer have.
[ Because that does worry her, the distress she'll cause to others who will expect her to still hold those memories. Friendships and loved ones forgotten as easily as yesterday's breakfast. It bothers her far more than she can say, and so she moves on to another subject without missing a beat. ]
How long have you been in this world, Foggy?
it ok!
[And there is still a crack in Foggy's heart, because he'd liked Padmé, they'd been good friends, and he'd admired her very much. Still, he's a champ by now at not letting that on, so he shrugs and moves on:]
Did you meet anyone you know here just yet? I know there's a few people from your galaxy here, but they're from all over the place, so far as I know.

I have met a few people, yes. Members of my family, specifically, who are all from my future. It's been difficult trying to grasp the full situation, honestly.

[There's at least one person here who's from the future of his world, even if he doesn't know her from anywhere that's not this world.]
This place pulls people in from all over the timeline. Doesn't matter if they're from the future or the past, on the same side or not, everyone's fair game for the Porter. The best you can do is just roll with it.

I am trying to do just that as much as possible. It wasn't quite as easy as it sounds when I learned my children are here who I haven't had yet, and my grandson is likely older than I am.
[ Despite that, she has been tanking things quite well. She still has so many questions, but there is no shortage of people willing to answer them when she is ready. ]

[He is secretly kind of glad he's not the one who has to deal with his future kids and grandkids. That's a whole new level of weird that Foggy's just not prepared for.]
There are a few people from your time here, so far as I know, but I haven't met them so I can't say. I did talk to a General Grievous over the network, though. He was [okay, how to put this delicately?] very focused on short-term solutions for a long-standing problem, let's say.
