JUSTICE LEAGUE !!
WHO: The Justice League & Co
WHERE: the Hall of Justice
WHEN: October
WHAT: Training, Meetings, Catch-All
WARNINGS: In thread subject headers, please!
GENERAL
[ The Hall of Justice is open to all members - and new members had already had security clearance inputted by Skeets. He's also on call for any problems with the technology, as he's de facto running the place now, though the fact that it's mostly automated means he doesn't need to do much.
The Hall of Justice has an INFIRMARY, a TRAINING ROOM, LABORATORIES, LIVING QUARTERS, and "THE KITCHEN" which is actually a training room, though there's an actual KITCHEN AREA too.
Non-JL visitors are allowed but have to be cleared first, and are unable to enter all areas.]
MEETING
[ There's also a CONFERENCE ROOM, and Skeets called a meeting mid-month for any JL member who wants to discuss team leadership - namely the fact that they're without. The meeting is optional, though you forgo your right to vote on the matter. He's set up food, drink, snacks and magazines in the conference room and before the meeting starts there's time to mingle and talk to your fellow members. ]

Training room: OPEN
She deliberately left the tonfas at home because she wanted to work on her hand to hand combat skills; Laurel practices on the wooden training dummy - with no partner to spar with, it was her best option.
From the outset, it looks like a very intense training session and maybe Laurel is pushing herself too hard but she wants to hone her skills and be prepared for anything.
((ooc: feel free to respond in action))

"Hey, friend," she says with a grin, holding out a gloved fist. "I thought you could use a halfway decent opponent today."
no subject
"Hey, Iris." She returns the smile. "Well, I'm definitely glad you stopped by. I need a break from this thing," Laurel adds, gesturing to the dummy. "Just let me get a drink of water and then we'll begin."
no subject
Given her day job, and her reliance on Cisco's gadgets, Iris hadn't had much in the way of hand-to-hand combat as of late. She suspects, with good reason, that she's getting rusty.
At the very least, if she ends up embarrassing herself, at least she'll be in the company of her best friend.
no subject
She believes in her best friend. With some coaching and encouragement, she could be amazing.
Laurel gives Iris a playful smile when she comes back over to her. "Do you need to do some warm-up stretches first or are you good to go?"
no subject
She's half-joking, but knowing this Earth, it might sincerely be just a matter of time. Iris grins, shaking her head as she stretches her arms for one last time.
"Did 'em already in the fake kitchen. We're good to go."
no subject
"You're very good. Have you been practicing for a long time?"
no subject
"Thanks." Laurel replies with a smile, pleased to hear the praise. "Overall, I've got about four years of experience: two back home and two from being in this place."
A pause.
"Unless you mean today. So uh, since this morning."
no subject
no subject
"Oops!" That was embarrassing, but also kind of hilarious.

When she hears a thud, followed by a 'crackling' sound Laurel turns to see the headless wooden dummy and an amused looking Wanda.
"Holy crap. Whatever did it do to you?" Laurel teases.
no subject
Whatever the MoM-verse equivalent of Zak Bagans or Ryan Bergara is, Wanda watches way too many hours of that show.
no subject
She stands back in the training space, watching her work on the dummy. Laurel is... good, that's for sure, but she knew that much already. So, finally, she starts adjusting her hand wraps as she walks closer.
"Canary," she says. "Up for a round?"
BLUE BEETLE | OTA
[ The first place you can find Jaime is, of course, the training room. There's not a lot it has to offer him that he can't get elsewhere, but it's good to have a place to work out every now and then. At the moment, he's mostly doing target practice; there are holograms of enemies popping up around the room, and he's hovering in the middle, shooting each of them as quickly and as accurately as he can (with the arm he's turned into a gun, as you do), wings batting slowly behind him. ]
How fast was that? Shoot, I was way faster last time. Yes, way faster. A second's a lot when it comes to this!
[ ...oh. Is he talking to himself? ]
THE REAL KITCHEN
[ Hey, a guy's got to eat!
In this case, this particular guy has brought in a metric ton of Chinese food, on the basis that everyone else probably wants some too, and that he'll take whatever leftovers there are home eventually. As he pokes through the styrofoam boxes, he calls out: ] Is anyone else hungry? 'Cause I got, like, a lot of food here. I probably could eat it all on my own, but that doesn't mean I should.
MEETING
[ Jaime looks vaguely uncomfortable at the conference table, particularly after having chosen to sit in Ted's old seat. He's never been good when it comes to group meetings, especially when it comes to discussing things as fraught as this. During his short stint on the Teen Titans, nothing had ruffled quite so many feathers as the question of leadership. While Jaime may have had some problems with the way things had been run before, not arguing about it well outweighed any of the cons.
Now? They're stuck where they are. He drums his hands on the table. ]
I guess the first question is if anyone wants to lead. And the second would be experience? Both as a leader and doing, you know, this whole gig.
[ Please let him not be one of the more experienced heroes. ]
om nom
Oh, that smells good. Is this for anyone, Blue Beetle?
Re: om nom
[ Jaime grins at her, teeth white behind the blue-black of his suit, and he grabs a plate before offering to her. ]
Joking. It's for anyone who wants it. Help yourself - I've got plenty. Food was always an integral part of my team back home too.
no subject
But then he grins and she grins back, accepting the plate and serving herself some of that yummy smelling lo mein. ]
How kind of you, to think of everyone else's needs! Food can indeed be an integral part of a hero's training regimen, of course, depending on their quirk-- ah, excuse me-- their power, and their metabolic needs...
[ The whole time she talks she's heaping more and more food onto the plate. ]
no subject
Oh, yeah. You should've been around when our speedsters were. They could clean out the fridge in minutes - and that's no exaggeration. [ He glances in fascination towards Momo's plate. He wouldn't have guessed that her power - quirk - would require extra fuel, but considering what she's saying... ]
Is that what your quirk needs? [ May as well use her terminology and put her at ease. ] A lot of food all the time?
no subject
[ And also she just... likes to eat. But it looks like she's in good company here in that respect! ]
no subject
[ He's glad he doesn't have to eat any more or less to maintain his suit. Idly, he comments, ] I guess I figured it worked more like my suit - recycling organic waste is a lot easier.
[ Jaime, that's gross. ]
no subject
[ Give her a second, she has to put those words together into a meaning and-- OH THAT'S GROSS.
She looks down at her plate of food, frowning. ] ...I think I've lost my appetite.
no subject
[ ...well, technically he can go to the washroom in his suit and it'll get recycled, but that's too gross for even Jaime. ]
Just, like, skin cells! That's all!
no subject
no subject
[ He shrugs. ]
At least mine's environmentally friendly.
no subject
[ What even is this conversation. Momo will just stuff more Chinese food into her mouth so she doesn't have to keep talking. ]
meeting
No. But I've... got the experience. Four years. [and she knows that's on par or better than a lot of the other current members have. so she starts tapping the arm of her chair, thinking and a little agitated. obviously they need to figure out the leadership question, but she honestly gets the sense that most of them--herself included--probably aren't qualified. or not interested.]
no subject
Yeah, [ Jaime admits, nodding, his head tilted minutely to the side. ] That's about the same as me. I think that might actually be as much as any of us have, unless I'm missing something.
no subject
no matter what, cassandra has felt pretty out of her depth for months now. this isn't helping.]
Does anyone want to lead? [she glances around the table.]
no subject
Yeah. That's the thing - I don't think anyone does. It's the opposite problem of most teams, but... well, let's just say this is the way things worked with the Titans too.
[ Nobody wanted to lead. Few felt capable of it, and those who did, tended to buckle underneath the pressure and the in-fighting. This iteration of the Justice League is definitely more cooperative, if not a little disorganized, but that can change with a swiftness Jaime doesn't care to consider. ]
But someone has to. These things just don't work without at least a couple people taking point. You and I might be, um, the most experienced with that kind of thing.
[ Which is horrifying. When did he stop being a rookie and become a veteran at this? And how come it doesn't feel that way? ]
no subject
If we don't... need someone in the field? I don't know if Oracle would even join, but... [that's sounding like the best option to her, if it's doable. but, y'know, she's biased. a bit.]
no subject
[ He knows enough about her to trust her regardless, to trust in her opinion and to act in the good faith that she's doing what's best for everyone. That doesn't mean everyone else will feel the same way. ]
If we go for that option, that's as good as us making leadership decisions ourselves, y'know?
no subject
So... what, then? [cassandra has a horrible feeling that this conversation is going towards one or both of them taking point on the team.]
no subject
[ Jaime crosses his arms and leans back in his seat, sighing. Here's what he always asks himself in tricky situations: WWTKD?
Ted was never really the leader of any group. Jaime's not even sure if he would have wanted to be. He's always been more of a tech guy than anything else. But he'd never shied away from leadership - he'd owned his own company, for god's sake - and right now, leadership's needed. ]
Well... here's what we're looking at. We need leadership, otherwise the rest of this operation's gonna go pffthht. It needs to be someone who's on the team, and someone with experience. Experience with teams and the kinda BS that happens here is a plus.
[ The way he looks at Cassandra suggests that he's no happier about this than her. ]
From where I'm sitting? That's us. I don't know if we can get around that anymore.
no subject
So. Both of us?
no subject
Both of us. I mean, it's better than it just being one of us, right?
meeting
[ Iris chose Barry's old seat, since well, Cass took Bruce's and Jaime took Ted's. She might as well keep the ceremonial symbolism going. Despite her posture, though, she seems at ease - thank god for experience in meetings. Thank god she's used to holding her own against the others.
She pauses at the question of experience, though. While it's a good one, she can't say she's one of the more experienced ones here. If anything, she feels like she's lacking, but she might as well say... ]
Oh, and I've got about two and a half years, as far as experience goes.
Re: meeting
It's something to figure out, I guess. But I had no idea you've been doing it for that long!
[ Barry had seemed so new to it, the few times they've spoken. Maybe it's just his youth relative to the Flash that Jaime's familiar with. Who knows? ]
no subject
[ That's her real hesitation: not in her abilities to lead, because she knows she can do it. She also knows that as long as she's got eyes and ears on the field, she can direct them based off what the computers are telling her.
At the same time, well... she can't bring herself to lead a bunch of teenagers. Maybe it's just her, sitting around the table and staring at them, but they seem so young. Too young.
(she wouldn't be able to live with herself if something happened on her watch.)]
no subject
[ Having someone in charge hang back and simply tell people what to do is a tempting thought. That's half of what being a leader is. It's just the power to prioritize and to know exactly what to do at any given moment. ]
So why wouldn't you wanna do that here? Besides it not really being done - that's not something that's ever stopped you before.
no subject
You're right. It never has. [ her smile doesn't quite reach her eyes this time. ] It's also... [ how should she put it? ] I haven't quite gotten my civilian stuff under control. Like my way-too-many jobs?
Until I get that squared away, I don't think I would be doing the rest of you much good from behind a screen. Even if it would let me multi-task.
no subject
[ Not that he and Cassandra are that much better - she's got a job and has to handle all of Bruce's assets, and Jaime's got his job, college, and Ted's assets. ]
The longer you stay, the more there is to do. We'll figure something out. We always do.
