WHEN: Through the month of September
WHAT: Yuuri's doing (a lot) of last minute training. Naturally the best way to do this is have the Russian Ice Fairy Tiger yelling at him.
WARNINGS: There may be some creative swearing? Depends on how mad Yuri gets.

[ It could never be said that Yuuri didn't work hard. ]

[ Yuuri had settled on his theme and his short program months ago; it was a message he had wanted to send out for awhile, but he didn't know how to quite articulate it. Even on the ice he had found expressing it difficult, because he just wasn't sure how; part of him wanted to pick out something sweet and sappy for both programs, but it wouldn't have felt right. He was trying to express how he felt about a very important relationship, but that relationship wasn't just sappy; that was why his free skate had been neglected for far too long. ]

[ Good thing he put out that request for music, because he would have been in a lot more trouble than he already was if he hadn't. That man with the mechanical lion had good taste; the song he suggested definitely worked well with Yuuri's strengths, much of it giving him the opportunity to show off the footwork he was known for back home. Injecting the technical part of it, however... ]

[ Yuuri let out a grunt as he took off for a jump, knowing before he even left the ground that he had messed up. He tried to save it as best he could, but his leg wobbled as he landed, depositing him on the ice and sending him skidding for a few feet before he stopped. He was fine -- he definitely knew how to fall -- but he still held up a finger before the shouting could start, requesting a moment to get his breath back first. ]

[ He had a month to get this right. All the bruises and shouting would be worth it if he pulled it off. ]

[ When he's not on the ice, Yuuri can be found taking a break, either on one of the benches that surround the rink, or in the small area with vending machines off to the side. At any given moment, he probably looks completely exhausted, but he's stubborn; there was no way he was going it slow now, a month away from competitions starting. ]

[ If he's not resting or on the ice, then he's probably stretching himself out at any open space, pressed up against a wall, stretched out along the floor, or jogging along a hallway. He's almost too intense in his training sometimes... ]

[ Sorry, Yuuri. There was never any chance he was going to honor that simple request. Yuri's already zipping across the ice towards him, jabbing his own finger accusingly at Yuuri. ]

You've got to stay focused! Right now, your job is to learn all of the footwork. Don't let yourself think about anything but the steps until you get it right.

[ Yuuri let out a groan as he was jabbed; oh, that was fine. What's another bruise to add to the collection? ]

I was?

[ He was ready for the jump. He thought, anyway. ]

[ Yuri scoffs and crosses his arms, looking down at Yuuri with disbelief. ]

So you just fell on your ass for no reason?

[ Yuuri finally managed to lift his head, giving him a look that practically said it totally wasn't his ass that he fell on. He finally pulled himself up after a moment, letting out a pained groan. ]

The momentum felt right; I thought I had it.

Well you didn't. [ Yuri finally lets the belligerence out of his posture, skating back a few feet to give Yuuri his space back. ]

Try it again, and watch your angle when you go for it this time! If you don't get it right then it's easier to lose control and wipe out again.

[ Yuuri let out a breath, nodding and taking a moment to collect himself, before gliding over to the center of the rink to start again. It was fairly empty at the moment, so they had plenty of room to work, which was good considering how complicated his movements could get. ]

[ He came around again, managing to lift off and land that time without any issues, but he definitely didn't have enough rotations that time around. He let out a huff, coming around to try again right away. ]

[ But not enough yet. It's a little reassuring that Yuuri doesn't need to be told to try again all the time, but only a little. There's still a lot of work to be put in before he's going to be ready for competition. ]

Make sure you kick off with enough force! You need that momentum to pull this off.

[ A month into living somewhere where the world hasn't ended and David still isn't used to it. So an intact ice rink? Still pretty cool. (Those might be the exact words, he's thinking, in fact.) He's too nervous about going out on the ice, though, so it's perfect that he's wandered in during someone else's practice. Instead, he lounges near the side of the rink, watching with awe and fascination.

When Yuuri's done with a particular routine - or just a really cool jump - he'll get a little applause from this guy. ]

[ Yuuri paused at the sudden applause, looking around for the source. He offered a sheepish wave once he spotted David, a bit of a shy smile coming to his face. ]

[ He's been spotted. Which is understandable, given he was just applauding; probably he shouldn't be surprised. Eh. He looks faintly sheepish in turn. ]

That's pretty amazing. Are you doing that without superpowers?

Yes.

[ Yuuri paused a moment, making sure it was okay to take a break, before skating over to him. ]

My powers aren't very helpful for anything, so I forget I have them sometimes.

[ David rests his arms lightly on the side of the rink. Brightening further as Yuuri draws closer. ]

Sparks, that's impressive. Doing that without powers, I mean.

[ A small smile came to Yuuri's face at that. ]

I've been practicing since I was really young. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication.

Yeah? Is that your job back home?

[ Viktor's getting better at recognizing regular fans that come to watch the imPort skaters, and even the people who come to the rink to actually just ice skate and practice since he's become the owner of the place. It looks like this person is neither (though really, his memory is still crap and forgets things all the time) so he wanders over to be friendly and maybe even promote the open customer service of the place. ]

Hi~! Is this your first time in here?

[ It's definitely David's first time here, so Viktor can be forgiven for not recognizing him. He jolts a bit when Viktor comes over, looking guilty. ]

Yeah. Uh. Sorry, is it okay for me to be here?

Of course! Only those going to skate need to pay to be on the ice, but you're in luck! First-timers to the rink get to skate for free.

[ Unseen is the way his employees groan at this declaration. That has not ever been a policy, boss!Viktor please stop making things up!! ]

What size boots can I get you?

[ UM. Ummmm. ]

I - uh, I don't really want to skate? I just want to watch.

[ Viktor's face is one you can absolutely trust okay. ]

No? Well if you change your mind, you're always welcome to skate! It's a lot of fun.

[ Viktor had been in the main rink office when his Yuris came in, one of the part time employees waving them inside since everyone knew of them by now, not bothering to tell the boss of their arrival until he's out front again an hour later. He's only a little surprised by it, why didn't they tell him about their practice time? He could have arranged his own schedule to match.

He's just about to head into the rink area when he watches what's happening unfold, harkening back to that one morning in Hasetsu when he caught Yuri trying to coach Yuuri. It ... wasn't much different now to be honest, causing Viktor to smile. He decides to quietly hang out by the rink barriers instead of lacing up, quietly observing until he gets noticed.]

[ Yuuri was definitely working hard, and he was so caught up in Yuri's instructions that he didn't notice Viktor was watching right away. Not until he had paused for a break did he look up as he glided over to where his water bottle was, and forgot how to move for a second, his legs slipping out from under him and depositing him on the ice. ]

V-Viktor...?

[ He gives a little wave. ]

Mmmm, maybe about twenty minutes or so? Just since I found out you were here.

[ ...ah. That was why he was smiley; he was trying to hide that he wasn't mad they didn't tell him about this. ]
