WHO: bodhi rook and you
WHERE: all over
WHEN: now till the end of september
WHAT: all sorts of stuff
WARNINGS: will update if anything changes
a. obligatory bar prompt - rated 's' for sadness
[ it's not out of the ordinary, to for Bodhi to be in a corner booth at the Pour Decisions pub in De Chima - he can sometimes be here two days a week - though not always to drink. sometimes he'll stop by, to talk to one of the bartenders here, or just to be out.
-- tonight, though, he's here for a drink. Cassian, has been gone for nearly three weeks now, and there's still a part, a large part of him that's biter and angry about it, about the way that the porter works - it gives and takes back with little or no warning, no chance to say goodbye, no guarantee that they'll ever see him again. Sometimes, it seems unfair that he's here, while the others are not.
It's different for everyone, sure, but for someone who's here, instead of being dead like they could be - being here is a second chance.
So, that's where his mind's at tonight. When he raises a glass in a silent toast, it's to his friends, and to Rogue One. ]
b. do something
[ it's not always nightmares that keep him up, sometimes it's a simple inability to fall - and stay asleep. so, it's closer to midnight, and the sun won't be up for at least another seven or so hours from now.
Bodhi Rook more or less finds himself in the spotlight, out of his friendships - associations with imports more famous than himself. It's fine by him, if he's honest - but tonight, he'd witnessed a man take off with a woman's purse and didn't even blink before he was off, pursuing the thief.
"Oh, it's Bobbie Rock!" the woman exclaims - he misses that.)
He might've been able to take him by himself, if not for by the time he catches up to the man, he tosses the purse to someone else. Now he's regretting not having brought Ace with him.
A little help? ]
c. obligatory wildcard prompt
[ other places to find him are taking his dog out for a walk, or stopping by a bakery, maybe the library. or a fast food restaurant. if you have another idea, just hit me up with it! ]

Sure, he's had small occasions of hookups, nothing serious or stable - and certainly not dating. It wasn't a thing that was done, he'd had little of a personal life when he'd worked for the Empire, and here - it hasn't really occurred to him to try it, actively look for a date. If it happened, it happened - if it didn't, then it didn't. Seeking it out... new and daunting to Bodhi.
It's really a testament to his trust in Poe that he's agreed to this. The worst that could happen is that there'd be no interest in him. Or was that the best? The idea isn't making him nervous at all what are you talking about. ]
Interests include.... hmm. Filling out tedious online questionnaires. How much information do they need for this?
no subject
[ He cracked his knuckles, totally ignoring the fact that he had more than once altered his X-Wing with nothing anywhere near a schematic. But he also crashed regularly, so. Probably was a correlation there. ]
Alright, well, flying, obviously, that's an easy place to start. Planes - Fighter Jets - Shuttles - Space travel--
[ Poe, are you just listing off things you like.... ]
no subject
Flying, space travel, fighter jets - sure we're not writing a profile for you?
[ it's teasing, because they do share those interests. ]
Flying, space travel, space -- and dogs.
no subject
[ He put an amiable hand down on Bodhi's shoulder, pressing down on it a little as he leaned in to better see the typing. ]
Hey, what can I say, you've got good taste.
Yeah - yeah, dogs is a good one. Everyone loves dogs. We should put a picture with you and Ace on it.
no subject
no subject
Okay, probably should list some more things than that. [ From the man who's interests list really would only include planes and flying. ]
Or wait - here - 'what are you looking for in a partner'--
no subject
his brow furrows, thinking of a few more things to type in the submission form. Photo taking. Food. Electronics. Eh, that should do for now.
as for that next question -- he drums his fingers on the desk for a minute before answering, and starting to type again. ]
Shit, I don't know. Someone who... well as long as they're not evil, or murderous. I guess - someone who is a good person, and not afraid of a few risks.
no subject
Make sure to say that you're a pilot but that doesn't mean you want to go too fast. Romantic types like that.
no subject
or maybe he's just been exposed to too much Earth innuendo and language. ]

[ Hello, despite having been here for more than a year now, sometimes it's the little things - things like, well - seafood. To be fair, though - Bodhi hasn't had much of it in the time he's been here. There's a lot that's he's still not familiar with.
But Eleanor had asked him, and he'd accepted the invitation easily enough and here we are. Sitting around at her place, eating shrimp. ]
no subject
[Eleanor wiggled the shrimp she was holding, amused. She was definitely not a seafood expert but she knew what she liked.]
Not that exciting but super delicious. [She held out the platter to Bodhi again with a grin.] I can't believe you don't have shrimp where you're from. That's just...so sad.
no subject
We have similar creatures, but... [ he shrugs, popping it into his mouth. ]
no subject
[She sat up, looking at him.] No pizza, no shrimp- do you guys at least have Twitter? Facebook? Keeping up with the Kardashians?
no subject
Nope. Nothing of the sort.
[ he frowns slightly, looking somewhat concerned. ]
What's a Kardashian, and why do they need to be kept up with? Are they dangerous?
no subject
[It was such a strange thing that there would be an entire world that had never heard of these things that were such a part of her life.]
They are a family- Keeping up with the Kardashians is like, one of the best things to watch on tv.
no subject
So what's so interesting, or should I say, "dangerously sexy" about this family?
no subject
[It used to be one of her biggest accomplishments, ok.]
They have a tv show and everything, if I'm able to find it we're so watching.
no subject
[ it sounds like it'd be entertaining, something to introduce to his friends too. ]
I got to be on a reality TV show once, here. Another ImPort was trying to find love and a friend of mine convinced me to try out for it. Didn't win, but it was... kind of an experience.
What other kinds of shows did you enjoy?
no subject
[Oh Bodhi, she has to introduce you to the fun world of reality tv.]
Let's see...The Real Housewives of Atlanta- The Real Housewives of Orange County...oh man I have a lot to teach you.
no subject
[ though he's sure it was because Kay was dating someone else, soooo.
He leans forward, a little. ]
Alright. Tell me what I have to know about your earth's reality tv.
no subject
[She reached out to squeeze his shoulder with a smile, making a note that if she met anyone suitable, she would totally set them and Bodhi on a date if she could.]
Ok, so you have to know the Kardashians first of all. There is Kris, the mom and manager. Then there is Kim, who married Kanye and like, I'm pretty sure their kid had a nose job, no baby's nose looks like that. Anyway, there is Khloe, Kourtney,- and can't forget Kendall and Kylie who have the best Intragrams if you ever get the chance, totally worth it.
no subject
[ Poe wants to get him dating, too. still not sure how he's feeling on that. ]
Okay, so Kris, Kim, Kanye, Khloe, Karrie - no, uh. That's a lot of names starting with K. Who's baby had a what now? Your universe is strange. [ despite that, he's leaning forward - listening raptly and popping another piece of shrimp, loaded with marinara sauce and licking his fingers clean. ]
no subject
[she knows way too much about this.]
Khloe and Kourtney have kids too. It's a big family. Man, you're really missing out, Bodhi.
[She summoned a few more shrimp for them to put onto a plate, stuffing another in her mouth]
no subject
[ Eleanor you're like a walking dictionary of reality tv shows. ]
All the things I never knew I was missing out on, until I got here. [ Bodhi gives a small smile, shakes his head. ] It's funny. All of these things... I've experienced... one kind of thinks dying would mean the end of that, you know? And yet here we are, talking about Earth reality tv and eating shrimp.
no subject
I thought death would be the end too. I mean, before I never thought I would ever die.
[She paused, looking down at her hand, her expression thoughtful before looking at Bodhi.]
But it turns out death was the best thing that could have happened to me. I met three other people who helped me to become a better person. We helped each other.
no subject
but he never thought that he would die, either, not until he was escaping under the cover of darkness and rain from Eadu with a data stick in his boot and a bounty on his head. then it became a very real possibility. ]
Not many are as lucky, to get that chance. [ he tilts his head, slightly questioningly. ] Were you in some kind of afterlife?
no subject
[She paused before giving a small smile.]
Best thing that ever happened to me.
no subject
Hang on. I've been tortured before, I'd have hardly called it an enlightening experience.
no subject
[She gives a fond smile as she thought of her friends.]
But it didn't work. We made each other better people and brought out the best in each other.
no subject
I think... your version of the afterlife is immensely better than my own, like most other things from your universe.
Sounds like you were all fortunate to meet one another. Even in that kind of situation. I've found that those kinds of friendships are more special than others.
[ what does he know, he didn't have friends before Galen, or Rogue One... ]
no subject
[Dying is never easy but she's glad that they both seem to have another chance. She could tell that if anyone deserved the Good Place, it was Bodhi. From what she knew of him he seemed kind, selfless, and considerate - things she was still working on every day.]
Sounds like you know what I mean. You never know when you will meet those people who will become like family to you.
no subject
The last thing I remembered before waking up here was dying. One minute there, and then [ he snaps his fingers.
It's never been an easy thing to talk about. But all of the support, his friends and family - adjustment came later. He brightens, thinking of them (not all of them are here anymore, unfortunately). ]
Indeed. [ He picks up the glass from next to him, holds it up. ] To finding a family.
no subject
She took a drink before sitting back.]
Man, that sucks. I mean, the Bad Place is...bad but at least it's something. And you, you would definitely get into the Good Place.
b.
descending from heights unknown to come crashing down and straight-up snatch the new purse-owner by the back of his jacket, Lucina lands with a heavy, startling CLUNK that does well to get the hooligan to jolt in surprise. great! enough momentum for her to catch his belt in her other hand and spin on her heel, throwing him back toward Bodhi and the rest of his quarry with a loud:] YYYYAH!
[mind your feet.]
no subject
huh.
the help is much appreciated, though it does take Bodhi a split second longer to get into gear - grab said thief (instead of getting barreled into) and pull the purse from the man's now pliant hands. ]
Maybe now you'll think --
[ and he's off running before Bodhi can finish. ]
Alright, then. [ he turns to her, glad for the assistance. ]
Thanks for the help with him. [ and after a brief pause: ] Nice suit.
no subject
[she kicks off the ground, zooming forward and scooping Bodhi up under his arms and flying up a bit to give chase.
is this necessary? no. but it is thrilling. dealing justice should be thrilling!]
Prepare yourself, now!
[for what????
what do you think.
she's gonna throw him at the runner.]
no subject
heart rate calming, he's even started to enjoy the ride.
that changes, when she instructs him to prepare. oh
oh. ]
... are you sure about this?
no subject
[gritting her teeth, she speeds up, eyes narrowing as she locks gaze with the escapee who has foolishly looked over his shoulder to see impending doom.
before he can hold up his hands and surrender, Lucina chucks Bodhi at him. she drops, too, and rolls forward to catch up and be there to cushion any heads that may dare try to hit the concrete too hard.]
no subject
Wordlessly, Bodhi follows the order - just a moment before Lucina tosses him forward, and straight onto the runner's back. Hitting the man's back with a grunt, he's spared hitting the pavement, at least. Under him, the thief is dazed and groaning, but not trying to get away.
Bodhi sits up, adjusts his position so he's pinned the man to the ground by knees to the back. ]
I didn't think that was gonna work. [ slow grin as he looks up at her ] Think he's learned his lesson?
no subject
Perhaps when he comes to and remembers, yes. [she crouches, peering more carefully until she's satisfied he's in no danger of proper harm. purse-thieves get their punishment from a judge; she oughtn't be dealing out concussions unduly.
...according to Foggy. who mentioned how likely it'd be that she'd get sued for her flavor of justice-dealing.
satisfied with that, she stands back up, offering Bodhi a hand up.]
Thanks for following along. That was a bit spur-of-the-minute, wasn't it? Your reaction time was great.
no subject
Just a bit, but - thanks for the help, I'm not sure I could've caught him on my own. [ just giving chase, it'd be one on two and none of his abilities were suited for this ] You've done this kind of thing before, I take it.
no subject
[with that in mind, she takes a moment to fish out her communicator and send a message to the police of their location and quarry.]
You secured the stolen goods, yes? We could make an attempt to locate the owner before the police come to collect him.
no subject
You seem... familiar. [ it might seem a stupid statement, because of course, though -- ImPorts are kind of celebrities -- ] Not in the "I've seen you over the network or over television way", but - we haven't met before, have we? [ he has trouble, remembering people to faces, time to time. ]
no subject
so.
so she props him up in a sitting position against the building, hands and legs tied. it's a slapdash job, but...hey. she's a warrior, not a...a knotter...?]
Ac-actually, [she puffs a bit, trotting over to where he's waiting.] I was going to say likewise. It must be a consequence of being part of the big network, right?
[more than that, but until she's had time to reflect, it won't come to her; the Shimmer lurks in her dreams more than waking thought for now, and that's honestly a mercy.]
In any case, it's...good to meet another justice-minded individual. I'm Lucina.
no subject
Maybe it was over the network. There are so many people that come and go it can be difficult to keep track sometimes. [ it's still something he's getting used to, making friends and socializing with new people as before it was always about work, or with other pilots. he's not Poe where it comes a lot easier, but he's opening up more.
and the Shimmer, just one more horrible thing to happen that he's tried to put in the past and leave there. ]
Likewise, nice to meet you, Lucina. Bodhi Rook.

Bodhi skids to a stop near Brandon, holds up a hand (the original thief, won't be taking any more purses tonight - after getting whipped upside the head by the woman he stole it from a few times). ]
Over here! She's down this way.
no subject
He didn't do the main work here. And he hasn't seen the woman yet.]
