To avoid complications - [OPEN]

WHO: Suzie and YOU
WHERE: Porter cities
WHEN: Last half of July
WHAT: Catch-all for late July shenanigans.
WARNINGS: TBA

Fact finding mission

It's coming up on two months and as much as she's enjoying retail (well...) she really needs to get a move on with the whole library project. It's something to turn her mind to, a distraction from the age shenanigans and shimmery... whatever the hell that was and just the perpetual, suffocating loneliness of being alone in a place where you can't even call home.

She starts her tour in Heropa, working her way through the libraries of the Porter cities, finishing up in Maurtia Falls. While she may look like any library patron at first, she pays a little too much attention to the details to keep that disguise up for long. Quietly jotting down notes she digs into the programming, the organising system, the width and breadth of what each place has to offer. It's a little weird but hey, weird is kind of her middle name these days.

Bar hopping

Two months, which means two months since she decided to break it off with Jon, two months since she dated or hooked up or... or anything. It's a long ass time and although Suzie isn't exactly a party girl, she makes an effort over these last few July weeks to stop by a bar or two. A beer, a glass of wine, nothing too crazy. Something to keep her company while she scopes out the local talent and maybe this too is a distraction from... everything. If she stops to think for too long, she'll absolutely go crazy.

Bar hopping!

Raina had been spending an awful lot of her downtime in bars this month -- save for the unfortunate week she spent as a teenager -- but even in her own barhopping, this is the first time she's come across Suzie. Being in search of company of her own, she sidles up next to her, stirring her paper umbrella around her fruity drink.

"You seem distracted. Or perhaps a bit lonely. Mind if I join?"

"Raina." She answers sweetly, easing into the seat across from Suzie. With a quick glance around the room, she makes a generalized gesture toward the bar. "It seems like a quiet night. I don't come to these places too often, but I have been this past month....and well, I guess people are either drinking in another porter city this evening or they've all decided to stay sober."

Raina lifts her drink in a playfully rebellious display -- as though she and Suzie were the rebels here, drinking on a night of supposed sobriety.

"Three and a half solid years." Raina drains her glass at that because that is worth drinking over. "I'd only recommend it if you don't have too much else to return to back home. The experience can be...draining."

Raina had always been quite the advocate for this world, praising it and the opportunities it presented. What changed? Relationship problems.

bar hopping

While it was nice being on Earth again - even if it was Florida- Eleanor felt lonely. It was an emotion she didn't have much experience with since she had been used to being on her own. She had thought that she didn't need other people and was better not having to owe anything to anyone else.

But that had changed. Now she missed the group of friends whom she was willing to sacrifice so much for. She was trying her best to be the better Eleanor she was sure she could be, the Eleanor her friends believed in.

Yet, she had her limits and that night she found herself at a bar, slumped over as she waved over the bartender for another drink. She pulled herself as she looked around the bar, waving at Suzie whom she recognized from the network. "Hey. Tough day for you too?"

"I know the feeling. It's been....tough."

To say the least. She didn't want to have to come to terms with the fact that her friends may not show up here. Perhaps they were in different realities of their own as a test to see if they all had become better people. She would try but that didn't mean that she couldn't get drunk in the meanwhile.

And maybe- maybe she didn't have to be alone. "How long have you been in this place? This...reality?" she asked, gesturing with a hand.

"Well, shirt. Do you have anyone you know from back from your reality or something?"

There might be a chance that she would be the only one who would end up here. But she was still holding out hope that one of her friends would show up- it wasn't right that they were separated.

"I'm from Earth- I guess not this Earth, though. It's weird, isn't it?"

"Arizona here."

Which really was like Florida in many ways except less gators. She didn't miss it though- she hadn't really had anyone whom really cared about her there. But in the afterlife...was that home now? The neighborhood had felt the closest to home she had ever felt before.

"That sounds like a good idea." And with that she downed the shot of tequila before her in one gulp. "If there is one thing I can do, it's drink until I don't have to think anymore."

[Maurtia Falls' library has been like a second home to Tate since he arrived here, and before he somehow amassed a whole collection of second homes to alternate between. It's still one of his favorite places to lose himself in for a few hours at a time, like today when he's unzipping his bag at the front desk and pulling out a stack of books to feed through the return slot. Something about what Suzie's doing catches his eye, and while it doesn't particularly stand out - he finds himself eyeing her anyway.

Sliding his bag back on over his shoulder, his usual path to the table he sits at intersects where she's at now so he veers over on his way. He quirks his brows up at the notes she's taking, tilting his head questioningly. She doesn't work here, he doesn't think - he's there regularly enough to get the vibe of who does and when newbies trickle in.]

Do I wanna ask?

[That inspires a small but amused snort in return, head tilting to the side as he pretends to look around to make sure nobody's 'overhearing' them before leaning closer as well. He doesn't know what she's doing but honestly, she's already started to win him over - so far, anyway.]

Am I walking in on some secret library turf war? I came for the literary classics, not bloodshed.

Yeah? What's the current game plan goal?

[He likes books. He likes libraries. He likes forward thinking people. He thinks he likes Suzie.]

I know this library like the back of my hand, I've been coming here for months. Maybe I can help.

Don't let your dreams crash down around you - you could probably do something like that here, if you found a way to get the funding. ImPorts - at least, when not being told to get the fuck outta Dodge, are pretty popular. You could bat your pretty eyelashes and get the permits in a heartbeat, without even having to show a sliver of your ankle.

[He shrugs.]

If you're Registered, at least. Are you?
