MAGNUS ; Basically asap after The Event
She remembers being young again, seeing Magnus like he used to be again (Better in some ways. Worse in others). It's been so long since they used to be family that it sticks in her heart and the back of her throat.
But almost as soon as she was returned to normal, she remembered what had last happened on her world. Hearing that only two of three returned, and likely for good this time. This world's Magnus might be the only Magnus she'll ever know.
So she goes looking for him. He lives next door, it probably won't be hard. ]
Magnus! Magnus?

He's always had a shit memory. He's not worrying about it. What he will turn his attention to, however, is the Director looking for him. He pokes his head out of the door to meet her in the yard, shoving the dogs back into the house with a socked heel and wanders out with a little wave. ]
Yyyyyes? What is it, is Taako back?
[ He still hasn't quite given up hope on that front. ]

And then what he said registers and she realizes that Taako's gone -- and the boys are separated again regardless of which universe they're in, that Lucretia can't keep her family together and safe no matter what she does. But at least she knows that if Taako made it back home he survives. She'll miss him dearly, but he'll live. She knows he'll live -- she has to believe that it was all worth it.
But seeing Magnus here, alive, so soon after finding out he was dead, on her orders? It's starting to feel a lot less worth it. ]
Magnus -- no, I - - I haven't seen him. Magnus, I owe you several apologies. Will you listen?
no subject
[ He hadn't been banking on that being the news, but Magnus is nothing if not forever hopeful, and the news of Taako's continuous absence is a disappointment. He walks down the pathway to meet her halfway, expression softening. ]
Lady, you don't owe me a damn thing. I fucked up 'cause I fucked up. You fucked up through a crazy twist of fate. You don't have to worry about explaining it to me.
[ He feels like he recalls meeting her, when they were both young - the longer he tries to think on it, the more it seems to slip through his fingers, but he remembers the sensation of deep, intense fondness, a contentedness around her, the sort of belonging that he only associates with --
No, it's gone. Either way, it bleeds into what he's feeling now. There had to have been a reason for it. ]
But talking can be cathartic, so. [ He gestures expansively towards her, as though saying: the stage is yours! ] Have at it!

[ She could have spent more time with Taako before he got Ported out. If Merle or Angus were Ported out too, she'd feel the same. But that's not the only apology she needs to give. ]
Especially since time is a precious commodity we can't always recover. And you-- [ She pauses. ] Magnus, you were brought in with the Chalice. That is the last thing you remember from our world?
no subject
[ Magnus is starting to catch on that this is about something bigger - even bigger than the Chalice, somehow, which he didn't think was possible. His expression shifts to one of frank concern as he looks Lucretia over, wondering what it is that could have possibly happened now. ]
Why? What's going on? Something bad happen?
JACOB ; pre-shimmer
She... may need some assistance and she trusts Jacob, at least as much as she trusts anyone.
So she waits, in her robes, while most of the cafe gives her the side-eye. The Natives give her a wide berth -- she's... gaining a reputation, for better or worse. ]
no subject
At least it makes him easy to spot, and he has no trouble finding where Lucretia is sitting.]
Hey, Lucretia. How are you holding up?
[The last time he'd spoken to her, she had been younger. A lot younger. Because another one of the Relics she fought against had gotten loose in the community.]
no subject
[ She can't quite bring herself to smile, even, at that. She folds her hands on the table in front of her. ]
I was hoping to get your -- well, I think I need some advice. If you're willing to give it.
no subject
Sure thing. Anything I can do to help. What's up?
no subject
[ She wonders if she should address her younger self that he spoke to but the Chalice takes priority. ]
I thought I could keep a Relic safe on my person, but clearly that method is flawed. The Relic isn't mine to take with me if I port out. I suspect my magic would be similarly flawed if I were ported out, which would be... Bad. I need to find a way to keep it as safe as possible with methods that aren't reliant on imports. Do you understand my dilemma?

[The Chalice. The time-twister. If it was anything else, Jacob would offer to stash it in Helix, behind several thick layers of security. But that would be too close to him... and he knows himself well enough to acknowledge he wouldn't be able to resist the thrall. The temptation to fix things, to get back what has been lost.]
First of all, you don't need to blame yourself. You were doing your best in a really tough situation. As for what to do with it... only thing I can think of is dropping it in the ocean or tossing it into space.
