Out of the corner of your eye you spot him: [Closed]

WHO: Mako Mankanshoku and Dio Brando
WHERE: A dark street
WHEN: July 30, late evening
WHAT: Dio is a vampire. Dio is a vampire that hasn't 'eaten' in about three weeks. Measures have to be taken.
WARNINGS: Well, vampirism, so blood, and so on. Also Dio being a manipulative douchebag, but that's basically a given.

It was, perhaps, inadvisable for a young lady to wander the streets as dusk swept through and ushered in the night.

Luckily, the only one winding through shadowed shortcuts was Mako. Sure, her mother and Ryuuko and Senketsu and...everyone...might scold her for being careless, but she had super-strength now. She could take care of herself just fine! If anything, the people to worry about would be the ones foolish enough to try for a mugging or some other means of attack. In a way, she was even performing heroic duties by moving around by herself.

She just...wouldn't mention that when she showed up for dinner.

Good deeds didn't go unpunished, after all, and being lectured while forced into seiza was never fun.

It wouldn't be too hard to get blood around here, really — cooperation from the government or the other imports is all it would take, he figures, but that isn't the way he likes to do it. His pride stops him from asking for help, which when coupled with his strong desire for control fueling the rush he gets from taking blood forcefully, the thought didn't even occur to him. Eventually though, the bodies drained of blood would draw a lot of attention. It wouldn't be long before someone discovered his aversion to sunlight and put it all together, outing him as a vampire and then connecting him to the corpses. He's considering the idea of trying out that new power of his once he's finished draining the first one, see if he can't cover his tracks that way.

But there would be time for that later. He'd held off on feeding to avoid drawing suspicion right away, but after three weeks it's taking it's toll. He feels weaker than he usually is, not something he can't live with, but he couldn't take any chances. He didn't want to be at anything but his full strength should anything go down, so it was time to act. He can practically smell the scent of blood as Mako inadvertently comes closer to his own position in some darkened alley, out of the way of the main streets. He repositions himself to await her arrival, knowing she's coming down this way...

And then, once he spots her passing, Dio emerges and drives his hand towards her from behind. The way his fingers slide into her neck through her skin is unnatural, supernaturally so, but the moment they do blood begins forcefully draining it's way through his fingers and into his body, revitalizing him with every passing second he manages to keep a hold of her. It had been so long he almost forgot how good it felt.

It's only once he sees her face that there's some recognition. Her strength is surprising all things considered, but right now not anything he's exactly worried about; what he is worried about is the fact that he recognizes this girl as an import, not just some local. It could be bad, depending on how it goes — no way could things go bad so quickly. He might have been careless, but he won't let himself get caught out so soon. Her own reaction to the situation means the situation isn't hopeless.

He really wasn't paying attention though. What was her name again?

"...it's you." Spoken so calmly, as if this is all one big misunderstanding and he wasn't about to just kill her. "My mistake. I was waiting on someone else; your timing was unfortunate."

He's pretty sure that she should be feeling more than that with how much blood she's lost, so it's a strange reaction. Did she have some kind of power that affected this? Regeneration would make sense, considering his own worked similarly(although not quite, considering he hasn't much use for his own blood these days) but that wasn't worth thinking about right now. Definitely something to figure out in the future though.

"I was...feeding." As if to demonstrate this, he lifts the hand he'd used, revealing the fingers to be bloodied. "In other to survive I'm in need of blood as sustenance."

Well, she sure talks a lot doesn't she? He's not really listening - mostly - apparently whatever a Senketsu is, it needs blood. Are they a vampire as well? Something definitely worth looking into. Something about murder, something about her father, something about manners, blah blah blah...

Oh, she's finally done.

"Like I said before, I was waiting on someone else. We arranged a more...consensual feeding. But she hasn't arrived."

Shall we try to work the poor poor pitiful me angle a little? Yes, we shall.

"Speaking frankly, I'm a little worried; it's been some time since we last spoke and I haven't fed in a long time. If I don't get any soon, I don't know what I'll do..."

He'll remember eventually, but only once it's actually relevant. Mako's rambling doesn't qualify unfortunately.

But ultimately her question just makes him inwardly scoff at the idea. He'd insisted before that the blood of women tasted better than men's, but in the end, blood was blood. The only real exception was the blood of Joestars...now there was some tasty blood. The idea that anybody else's could taste better than the rest was ludicrous.

...even as unreasonable as it would be to expect anyone else to know that. But he decides not to be honest.

"Quite tasty. The blood of a woman tastes much better than that of a man's, but even more so if the woman in question is so lively like yourself."

It's a tempting offer; when he first arrived he really didn't want to take blood like this, on speaking terms with the person in question, maintaining some kind of contact with them...but after all the time he went without blood, he'd come to realize things are very different here. Trying to keep up his lifestyle from before in this world would be incredibly difficult right now with so little influence or power, so a source of blood he could possibly rely on and not get into trouble for taking from sounds more appealing than it had three weeks ago.

Maybe he would have to do this. Start over from the bottom and work his way to the top, just like before. This was just the first step.

"What do you mean by sterner stuff?" First thing's first after all. "I think even the most durable person would find it difficult to have their blood taken from them like this, yet you seem fine."

Incredible. In his world, stand users would do anything to protect the nature of their abilities, yet here she is telling him everything.

"A useful ability to have, considering the circumstances." And he's decided this may have to be something he profits off of, at least until he takes over the world. "Perhaps it wouldn't hurt to make this arrangement more...long term. Permanent."

It was easier when underlings or useful people just wanted piles of gold he had lying around in his mansion. Now he actually has to get off his lazy ass and do things for his side of these kinds of deals, ugh.

"In exchange for your blood, I'm certain I could be of...some use, on occasion."

"There is one last thing."

Is he moving on without even acknowledging that? Yes, he is. If she wants a friend who appreciates puns, she ought to go befriend Jotaro.

...actually, don't befriend Jotaro, that would ruin everything.

"As kind as it is of you to trust me like this-" 'Kind' he says, as he thinks a whole slew of words that he believes are more fitting. None of them are flattering. "-I feel like others would be wary of me, simply because of what I'm doing. This kind of behavior...there's a lot of prejudice loaded with it. They would assume I'm no good simply because of what I need to do to survive, feeding off of you like this.

"So I'd appreciate if this were our little secret, Ma-...Mako."

He even referred to her by her first name. He is totally owning this fakefriendship thing.

"Friends keep secrets, don't they? It's how we know we can trust each other."

Ah, the confirmation of a plan coming together. Isn't it wonderful? Dio's all ready to end things here and leave when he sees her extend her pinky, confusion clearly written across his face.

Pinky swears weren't exactly high on the priority list when he started catching up on the future he missed out on. Rather than respond, he just gives her a puzzled look.

Please explain.
