[The last time she was given such a large house to live in, it was when Hodgins tried to leave her with the Evergardens. She'd reacted badly, at the time, half-panicked that she was being thrown away due to the loss of her arms leaving her unfit for combat. Instead, she'd wound up in the attic of the CH postal company, and it was a comfortable existence. She saw her coworkers and Hodgins every day, and though she had still longed for Gilbert's return, she had been content--inasmuch as she'd come to understand the meaning of contentment.

It's strange to go about her life in a new place, in a new house like this. She's not yet met those she was told she would be sharing her living space with--when she's not at work, she mostly keeps to herself in her room, rather than venture out into the common areas. However, a girl needs to eat sometime, and it's one of these times that she happens to see the door opening. Closing the pantry door, she instead follows the noise to the front door.]

You must be one of the roommates I was told about. Hello.

[ Inanna isn't around the house frequently, spending most nights at a private hotel suite with their revolving door of partners. But as enjoyable as that is sometimes it's nice to have a quiet evening in, and it's night like these that they remember the government assigned housing and decide to spend a night in.

They glance up with a look of mild surprise as the door closes behind them, a warm smile already tugging at the corners of their mouth. ]

I guess I am. Have we spoken before...? Your voice sounds familiar.

[She tilts her head. Their voice sounds familiar, too, now that she thinks of it, but she doesn't recognize their face.]

Ah, perhaps. [She offers them a polite curtsy as she introduces herself properly:]

Violet Evergarden, at your service.

Oh! The auto memory girl? [ They can't bring themself to say doll. It feels too dehumanizing to talk about a person that way. ]

We have talked before. I'm Inanna, the one who talked about imPorts being celebrities.

[Her eyes light up a little in recognition.]

Oh, I do remember you. It is a pleasure to be formally introduced, Inanna.

The pleasure is definitely mine. [ They flash a star-bright smile, stepping further into the sitting room. ]

How have you been since we talked? Are you settling in well?

My status has not significantly changed since our previous conversation.

[Even with all the progress she's made, she still kind of talks like a soldier at times, sorry Inanna...]

I still wish to return to my home, but I have not experienced any significant emotional distress in the transition.

Not very different from the rest of us then. That's good to hear.

[ Although the clinical way she's talking is a little worrying, even in spite of that. ]

You might be lucky enough to be returned home soon, but you should know there are some people who've been here for years.

...I see. That is unfortunate.

[Some of the others would likely begin to fear that she was dead by then, she thinks. It's too bad she can't send them a letter informing them otherwise...]

Has anyone yet witnessed one of these returns? Or are they simply discovered after the fact?

[ Inanna frowns mildly, considering the question. It's not something they think about very often, so it takes a moment to sort through their memories. ]

I think...it's always after the fact. Or at least usually. I haven't heard of anyone witnessing one before.
