[ SEMI-OPEN ]
WHO: Those who have been invited & anyone who would have a reason to visit Maurtia Falls #010! Wondering if you fit into that category? Just contact anyone with an involved character (Andy; Rex; Martin; Cassandra Igarashi; Dio; Archie) and ask!
WHERE: Maurtia Falls #010
WHEN: TONIGHT? TONIGHT.
WHAT: The soldierfam has decided that regular group dinners are good for Martin, and this time they've got a few party crashers!
WARNINGS: None anticipated; will change if necessary!
At a glance, one could easily mistake Maurtia Falls #010 for being entirely uninhabited. Dio rarely returns home and Rex and Marty only have a handful of belongings between the two of them and Rex is meticulously tidy, returning everything to exactly where it ought to be - if anything, it's Andy who makes the biggest mess around the place, and she doesn't even live here.
Despite every sign to the contrary, however, they do live here, and it winds up being a hub of activity whenever one of Martin's guardians - if that's truly what they can call themselves - decides that it's about time to get everyone together for dinner. In Anderson's absence, Rex has taken on the opinion that cooking can't be that hard, which is how they wind up with one window open, a casserole dish burned black soaking in the sink and an assortment of take-out on the table.
(As it turns out, it is that hard - and he found a combination pizza & Chinese food take-out place, whiich means that it can only be better.)
In all, there's not much to do or see here; there's food, Rex the goldfish in his tank, a soccer ball neatly tucked close to the house in the backyard, and a mysterious shelf called "Martin's Things" in the cupboard. Otherwise, you're stuck with nothing more than some potential awkward conversation. Have fun, kids!

"So I know it's too late for this time, but how about we do some cooking lessons in the future? Nothing fancy, but just so you can get to know the basics. Trying to make a casserole before anything else is kind of a big leap, no offense. But I cook easy meals all the time- mostly breakfast foods, but hey, it'll be a start, right?" Dio pats Rex on the shoulder, giving one of his Classic Reassuring Smiles.

That, Rex can do. It usually tasted a sight better than rations but it wasn't exactly a delicacy; all you did was hold something over a fire until it was cooked enough so that it probably wouldn't kill you. Others were more skilled at it than him, mixing ingredients in inventive ways, babbling on about alliums and stuffing meat but Rex never had patience for more than doing the bare minimum.
He's beginning to wish he had listened a little more carefully. The idea of being taught how to cook by a man that he barely knows isn't his idea of fun - he prefers to fail repeatedly in private until he's mastered something - but there's no graceful way to say no. Besides, he probably should learn a few basics.
"That's generous of you." He pauses, looking a little dubiously at Dio as he pats his shoulder. It's not an unfriendly look, per se, but he's not entirely certain what to do with that sort of casual friendliness. "I was underneath the impression that casseroles were supposed to be simple. I suppose I shouldn't have taken that at face value from the sort of fellow who makes that."
He nods at the poffins on the table, which may as well be witchcraft. Archie not only cooks - he makes stuffed breads. No wonder he thinks everything else is easy.

"Yeah, maybe for a guy who's definitely binge watched the cooking channel. Yeah, we're gonna start with just making sandwiches. Maybe grilling them even. And how to not burn soup, which can happen. That's easiest of the easy. Then after that, we'll do regular pasta."

Honestly, the whole thing's more time consuming than it's worth. He crosses his arms, admitting, "I don't know how to do the rest of it, though. How'd you learn?"
If Archie learned from the television that explains a lot but he's relatively vague on how the people around here learn basic skills. Maybe it's something that's taught in schools. Who knows?

"I learned sorta from my mom, but also just from trial and error. Reading recipes online, trying them myself, also burning them myself. Online's a pretty good resource too."
