Honey Moon keep a-shining in June
WHO: Open to All! Teenage imPorts (16-20) will receive special invitations.
WHERE: International Moon Base Embassy and Research Center
WHEN: Several event and activity options throughout the month, featuring a Black and White Ball on June 9th.
WHAT: Open Moon Base log for anything taking place on the moon, along with a couple of activities and events arranged by Adam Parrish, imPort Coordinator of the Moon Base. Prompts are included, but feel free to use this log for any threads taking place on the moon.
WARNINGS: None expected. Please tag your own.
Visitors to the Moon Base will be reminded that the entire site is an international diplomatic embassy. Weapons are not allowed, with very few exceptions (please use your own judgement). Flammable materials are very tightly restricted--the entire base is a non-smoking zone due to the high oxygen atmosphere.
International Festival
The park in the residential dome of the Moon Base is always a central hub of tourist activity, and on this day in particular it's going to be crowded with people, because Adam has arranged for an international festival, inviting diplomatic and cultural envoys from a variety of small countries that had expressed diplomatic support of the project but didn't have the resources to be involved in the original construction--Montenegro, Iceland, Burkina Faso, Madagascar, several Polynesian islands, and others.
The park is a rectangle of grassy lawn on the uppermost level of the residential dome, under a broad glass ceiling that gives a view up at the stars and the earth. There are benches and tiled alcoves with mosaics depicting different mythologies about the moon from a variety of cultures, and an array of booths set up around the perimeter of the park serving food and drinks from an array of cultures.
Bouncy Room
On one of the lower floors of the dome is a huge room designated as a permanent bouncy castle. The walls and ceiling of the room are all covered in inflatable pads. Elsewhere in the Moon Base you might see warnings not to jump because you weigh about a sixth of your Earth weight and you won’t have the reflexes you need to control your jump. Fortunately, here in the bouncy castle, you can jump all you like! Still, please be careful. The padded ceiling is twenty feet up, but on the moon you’ll easily be able to crash into it if you try.
Black and White Ball
The Embassy dome is usually closed to tourists, even imPorts, but tonight Adam has reserved the Grand Ballroom for an imPort dance party. It’s an opulent space on the top level of the embassy dome, with huge glass windows providing views on all sides of the stars and the earth. The marble floor is etched with a detailed map of the moon’s surface, with a little star etched to mark the location of the moon base in Mare Nubium, the Sea of Clouds.
Tonight's theme is a Black and White Ball. Teenage imPorts (ages 16-20) will receive an invite via the network. All imPorts are welcome, but you might need a teenager to tell you about it, since the event is not being widely publicized.
