May Swear In
WHO: Everyone!
WHERE: Nonah's Fairgrounds
WHEN: May 12th
WHAT: May Swear In
WARNINGS: None expected; please warn in threads if necessary
Spring is finally beginning to fade into summer with weather starting to warm, and the trees and flowers beginning to blossom into their peak, and what better way to celebrate the welcome change in weather than with a FAIR?

The fairgrounds have been transformed overnight with a swath of rides and attractions filling the field from one edge to the other. There is, of course, a booth for imPort registration that's positioned near the entrance of the fair. Even so, imPorts with an interest in registering may have to ask a fair worker for directions. The signage on the registration booth is, for some reason, faded and easy to miss among the bright and bold banners and lights drawing attendees to the different game booths that line the paths further into the grounds. Must have just been poor planning on someone's part!
Further into the park there are a wide array of the standard carnival games. Games include from balloon pops where you can win your very own "signed" copy of imPort photographs, but does anyone actually remember signing any photos…? There's also a ring toss that no one can seem to win, but the prizes include items like a water bottle discarded by Tony Stark, or dried flowers from one of Persephone's actual vines! Or maybe you'd like to prove your sharpshooter skills by knocking milk bottles down with a pellet gun? Prizes range from cheap, poorly painted figures of popular imPorts, to a handful of detailed and poseable figurines of both imPorts and famous media characters for the very best shooters.
Past the games are the many, many different food booths. You can chow down on Fried Stuff On Sticks, offering fare ranging from deep fried cheesecake on a stick to deep fried corndogs on a stick to a variety of tempura on sticks. (It counts!!) Or perhaps you prefer a healthier roasted meat? There's no shortage of options for that: roast turkey, roast beef, roast bison, roast alligator? Strangely few, if any, of these booths offer any vegetable options, but intrepid imPorts can find a booths offering superfood smoothies, quinoa bowls, or fruit parfaits tucked away at the very end of the food court.
And don't forget the main attraction (at least, the attraction Galla is most pleased with): CAPTURE THE FLAG. A parcel of land roughly the size of two side-by-side American football fields has been fenced off, and a brightly colored banner that looks like it manifested directly from the 90s is hung across the entrance, inviting all to enjoy! Inside, there is a scattering of trees to provide some natural cover in addition to man-made structures like sections of wall, pieces of large construction pipe to crawl through or hide in, and, of course, the different flag bases:

Yes, those are inflatable dinosaur heads inside an inflatable Jurassic Adventure. The flags are located inside of the temple the top of the "mountain" which, conveniently, has a rock climbing facade just in case climbing to the top of an inflatable hill is too difficult for some players.
Capture the Flag games are held hourly, and imPorts can choose to compete against each other, against natives, or even to team up with local native attendees! When competing against or with natives, imPorts are asked to refrain from flight, mind-reading, or teleportation, but it isn't a rule being strictly enforced. In fact, apart from those requests, imPorts are encouraged to use their powers as much as they like! There are natives lined up around the perimeter to watch the games play out, so why not give them a show to remember?

Mitsuru Kirijo | Registered | OTA
[Mitsuru has anticipated that the swearing-in ceremony would be a formal affair, something sedate that would reflect the seriousness of what it is the new arrivals would be committed to. Which is why, when she arrives at the address she's been advised to head to and sees a funfair set up, her first thought is that she must have taken a wrong turn somewhere.
It's not long before an official-seeming figure advises her differently. But between the crowds, the bright lights and sounds of the games and the rides and the fact that she's just not used to navigating fairgrounds, finding where she's actually supposed to go is a little tougher.
She could try Artemisia, of course. But she doesn't want to risk drawing attention for possibly no gain so for now, she'll stick to more mundane methods, trying to pick out someone who isn't quite so caught up in the fair.]
Excuse me. Do you know where the new ImPorts are supposed to go?
2. Games
[The closest Mitsuru has ever come to carnival games before is during school festivals, which are usually on a much smaller scale than this. She's not sure she even wants to get too involved but then she spots the sharp-shooter stall and a lump of plastic that she assumes is supposed to be Shinjiro - and mostly because of the gray blob attached that she thinks might be Koromaru. It's not something she wants, but it's probably something best disposed of before Shinjiro catches sight of it.
She wins that one easily enough - shooting may not be her primary means of fighting but she has an eye for a target all the same. But that gets her feeling competitive, like she can do better - except she doesn't realise quite how unwilling the stallholders are to part with the actually decent prizes.
Which is why, at some point, people may notice an angry redhead glaring at a stall-owner.]
That hit, so it should have fallen. Just what is it you're trying to pull here?
3. Food
[At least food can't come with strings attached. Too bad most of it is deep-fried everything - including several things Mitsuru hadn't even realised could be deep-fried.
Which means she can often be found in front of different stands, expression pulled into a tight frown as she tries to fathom how or why someone would deep-fry cheesecake.
Or perhaps you bump into her later on, as she perseveres for long enough to find the healthier options and snags herself a smoothie. Once she has that in hand, she relaxes a little and looks to anyone else who's in the same area.]
They really didn't want us to find this section, did they?
1
Oh! Ah, hmmm...
[He does, kind of, but at the same time, it had been a long time since he bothered to look for the Registration booth. He was, after all, Unsettled, and had no thoughts to change that.]
Well, technically this whole event is for new imPorts, though us older imPorts come by to meet the newbies and have some fun, too.
[He shoots her a smile at that.]
You looking for something in particular?
no subject
In the meantime, even if she knew where to start with the having fun part of this whole thing there's something she has to take care of first.]
I appreciate that, but I was also given to understand that we are expected to report in to someone regarding our intentions while we are here. That being the case, I had hoped it would be better sign-posted as to where we are to report but that doesn't appear to be the case.
[Of course, it could just be that she's not good at navigating fairgrounds but she's not about to admit that.]
no subject
Well, it's less of a 'you're expected to' and more 'they prefer if you do'. There should be a registration booth around here somewhere, but... er. Honestly, I haven't seen it yet.
[And that WAS honest. Galla had kind of shuffled the focus off of it, and Akira hadn't been looking, so he had missed it.]
I can help you look if you want, though? Maybe we could pick up something to eat while we're at it, too. Check out some of the sights and such. [Wait a second.]
U-uh, I didn't mean that to sound as if I were propositioning you for a date or anything! I just... Think you should also enjoy yourself while you're here if you can?
no subject
[She really doesn't appreciate the inconvenience, partly because there's a side of her that wants to get registered and go and another side of her that's perfectly willing to go along with this having fun thing but knows she will relax a lot more once she does what she primarily came here to do.
Though she tries not to let it show too much, she can't help but be a little taken aback by all that comes with the offer to help her look. It's definitely not something she's used to from someone she doesn't know and it's only the back-tracking on his part that convinces her not to keep searching by herself.]
I do appreciate that is the main purpose of a place like this. However, I do feel that I will be more inclined towards that once I have taken care of the more serious aspects. That said, I suppose if we happen to pass the food stalls on the way it wouldn't hurt to take a break.
[She thinks. She still has to eat, at any rate.]
no subject
Well, two heads are better than one, at the least. Let's look around and see what we can find.
[He offers the woman a friendly smile then.]
By the way, my name is Akira Kurusu. What can I call you?
no subject
Especially here, where she's been stripped of so much that made her life what it was back home.]
A pleasure to meet you, Kurusu-san. My name is Mitsuru Kirijo.
[She offers her full name, but her formal approach likely indicates well enough her preference for how she is to be addressed.]
