[CLOSED]
WHO: Laurel and Major
WHERE: Seattle
WHEN: 13th-15th February
WHAT: Romantic Valentine's trip!
WARNINGS: Fluff, cuteness, etc. Will update if need be
When Major brought up the suggestion of going to this world's version of Seattle, Laurel thought it would be a nice idea to make it as part of a romantic getaway for Valentine's. This would be their first real time away together and well, Laurel wanted it to be perfect. She was delighted to learn that they could travel there via plane and it would only take a few hours. Her bags were packed, apartment safely secured and she was ready to go.
The hotel that Laurel had picked was nice and not overly expensive (which surprised her, considering the dates they were staying on.) She didn't know how similar this Seattle would be to the one that Major was used to, but Laurel wanted to do some sightseeing if they had the time to.
She ordered a taxi once they collected their bags and the heavy traffic means that they arrive a little later than planned; it wasn't a problem though, as long as they got to the hotel to check in.
Turning to Major with a smile, Laurel asks: "What do you think?"

And they'd helped him cope, back then.
But now, facing the reality of an actual parallel Seattle? It's making his palms sweat. And it's making him feel a little uncomfortable. The only thing that's helping to keep him together is knowing that he'll be going to see it with Laurel. He'd otherwise not be able to do it alone.
He focuses on her, her excitement, her happiness the entire plane ride there - trying to stay in the brightness of her smile or the sparkle of her eyes as she looks out the window, first of the plane and then of the taxi as it twists and turns down streets Major can't quite recognize. There's something familiar about them - almost the way one feels when they're in a place they'd been to long, long ago, but not in a very long time - where it's just familiar enough, but still new and strange.
It's only when she asks him the question that his smile falters a little, though he does his best to hide it.
Focus on the trip. Focus on Valentine's Day, why you're here together. Focus on her. Focus on what this trip means to you both, not on the Seattle you wish you were in. Because if you were in that Seattle, Laurel wouldn't be with you.
He gives her hand a gentle squeeze, giving the briefest of glances out of the taxi window.
"... In a word? Weird. At least everything outside of this taxi is weird. Everything in it is great."

There were multiple Earths, and each of them had a different version of the people who lived in them. Laurel included. It's not something that she has much of a chance to ask about, but maybe she could ask Cisco when they had the time.
He may not have realised it during their journey that she had been keeping a close eye on Major. Watching his reactions. She saw his smiles and the obvious delight with (finally) going on a trip with each other, a well-deserved trip at that. But deep down, Laurel wonders how Major is really feeling about the whole thing.
"It is pretty great in this cab." She gives his hand a squeeze in return. "And I know how weird it must be for you, being here. But I promise that we'll have fun and make some good memories." Laurel adds softly, meaning her words. "Okay?"
Still holding onto his hand, she leans forward to pay the cab driver and gives him a tip, saying 'thank you'. Once that it is done, her attention is fully on Major again and it was going to be like that for the rest of their stay.
"Are you ready to go?"
no subject
"Now or never," he replies, kissing her cheek and thanking the taxi driver before scooting out of the cab. He takes advantage of his standing position to get a good stretch in, arms over his head. He lets out a happy groan before tapping the top of the trunk to alert the driver to open it. Once it does, he hoists out the luggage and closes the trunk again.
He grabs hold of both of their things, flicking his head towards the door.
"I got this stuff. You go ahead in first."
no subject
"Okay." She flashes him a grateful smile. "Thank you."
It was sweet of Major to offer and it means that Laurel could check them into hotel so they could relax a little in their room. When she goes to the reception desk, it doesn't take long at all for her to check in, having booked the hotel under her own name over a week ago.
He'll find her waiting by the desk, holding up the key cards with a smile.

"That was fast. What room are we?" he asks as he shuffles closer, peering at the key card packet with interest.

The elevator is just ahead of them so they didn’t have far to go to head up to their room. She leads the way and pushes the call button, waiting for the elevator to arrive. The doors slide open and a few people come out so Laurel stands to the side to let them pass before stepping inside, pressing the hold door button until Major is inside the elevator with her.

He presses the "3" and then leans against the wall of the elevator, considering her for a second.
"I feel like maybe I should apologize pre-emptively, for any ... weirdness I might feel or show while we're here. The Seattle we're in right now is .. close, sort of, to the real thing - close enough so that if I wasn't paying attention, I might not notice it wasn't the original. But it's just off enough to be kind of bizarre. And .. I'm sorry, if that makes me act .." He lets out a bit of a laugh. "Well, weird."

"That being said, I promise to make these next few days as amazing as possible. Even if we just end up staying in bed for a whole day in a makeshift fort, eating pizza and uh-" added with a wink "smooshing booties." Yeah, Laurel is going to call that back from the night of their first date when everything was new and exciting and they were beginning to get to know each other.
The elevator doors slide open when they reach the third floor and Laurel exits, waiting for Major to join her before they would head to the room.

He follows her off of the elevator, luggage in tow, and glances at the directional sign to start walking the right way down the hallway. He peeks at her out of the corner of his eye.
"You are gonna let me go halfsies on this with you, right?"
no subject
They turn a corner before she answers his question, shooting him a smile. "Yes, I am gonna let you go halfsies on it. Promise." She does have a few surprises planned but they would be revealed later on.
Their room is located close to the end of the corridor and Laurel slides the key card through the slot to grant them access, pushing the door open to reveal a rather lavish looking room, with a queen size bed and a great view of the city.
no subject
He nods to her as he continues to follow, slipping inside the room once the door's been opened. He sets their luggage near the bed but out of the way before walking over to the window to admire the view. It's so strange, how similar it looks and yet .. how different. Still, he thinks, it's best not to focus on that; focus on your girlfriend, focus on being here together.
Major turns towards her and opens up an arm to invite her near him.
"This is perfect."
no subject
She watches him head to the window to have a look outside, understanding that it's probably still weird for Major to be here in a place so much like his hometown, but she is glad that he is. They both needed this. Who knows when they'll have the time to relax and unwind away from it all?
"It is pretty perfect." Laurel says as she comes towards Major, tucking herself against his side and sliding an arm around his waist. "And long overdue."
no subject
"So, what's first on your agenda?"
no subject
"I thought we could maybe chill out here for an hour or two. Get our bearings after all of the travelling. Then head out for a walk and grab dinner?" However, Laurel is very easy-going about their trip and doesn't have a rigid schedule. "I'm open to suggestions though."
no subject
"Are you guaranteeing that we're not going to get caught up in .. various activities that might distract us from going to get dinner? Because I'm not. But I'll try, if you'd like me to."
no subject
"I can't guarantee anything, Mr. Lilywhite." She smirks, running her hands up along his side. "If we get distracted, then we get distracted." A pause before the smirk widens. "Besides, there's always room service, you know?"
