WHO: Jyn Erso and her roomies, and YOU!
WHERE: De Chima residence #3 and also the Gin and Bear It bar.
WHAT: Jyn has magically appeared again. Surprise! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ And later she's serving you drinks.
WARNINGS: A for Awkward (and also alcohol, will update as needed).
[A: Coming home (CLOSED to roommates)]
[Jyn stands outside her new home and takes a deep breath as she inserts her key into the door lock. She's been through a lot in the past 48 hours, but as always, she'll learn to cope with it eventually. Her world is just being shook up quicker than she's used to, that's all. She's been through worse, she keeps telling herself, but it's a blatant lie and she knows it.
After hesitating for a few seconds, she turns the knob and pushes the door open to finally meet her new roommates.]
[B: Settling in (CLOSED to roommates and/or house visitors)]
[Okay, having powers is turning out to be really troublesome. Jyn can't seem to get her gift for manipulation of electronics in order and has burnt yet another slice of toast. She delicately removes the black brick once known as bread from the toaster and drops it onto a pile of her previous culinary victims on the kitchen counter. The house is really starting to smell at this point, but all she knows how to do is wave her hand around to disperse the smoke around her.
With a huff, she removes the last slice from the bag, inserts it into the slot, and pushes the button down. She holds her hands to her chest in the hopes that if she avoids touching any part of the contraption, it'll work as it's supposed to.
The smell is really dreadful. She hopes it isn't disrupting other members of her household too much.]
[C: Tending bar (OPEN)]
[The Gin and Bear It bar is quaint enough, Jyn thinks. She's never had to hold a job so... well... stationary before, but at the very least, it's steady pay and safe working conditions for a change. She still has to get used to being friendly to her patrons, especially the ones who try to hit on her (assaulting the guests is frowned upon, after all), but she's managing.
During the hours of 2pm to 10pm, she can be found behind the bar's counter with a surly frown, waiting ever so eagerly to take your order and listen to your ever so important problems.

She picks the Gin and Bear it because it's the first one she spots. Her own assigned job puts her at different watering hole — the What Ales You tavern — but she hasn't decided if her give-a-crap-o'-meter is so low that she'd get messed up at the one place that's supposed to pay her. Plus, this place is open. Even though it's only 2 PM, and that's probably too early for hard liquor by most people's standards.
Andy doesn't play coy, she goes straight for bar. ]
So. What are the chances you'd be willing to open a tab for a stranger?

[ Jyn finishes drying the glass she's been washing clean and sets it down. Her first patron. No one too hostile at the moment, which she's grateful for. Serving drinks is painfully dull compared to her life as a nomad, but it's about time she settled down and held a steady job. ]
What'll it be?
no subject
Surprise me. [ She settles into her stool a little, digging into her jacket pocket. ] Mind if I smoke?
no subject
Go right ahead.
[ The first drink Jyn had been taught how to make was a mai tai. She grabs the bottle of lime juice from behind the counter and begins pouring it into a shaker. ]
I hope you like tart drinks.
no subject
Works for me. [ Lifting a hand, she waves away some of the toxic smoke, eying her bartender for a moment before going on: ] How long've you been around here?
A [before Feb 7th]
So when he hears the door open, he goes to investigate the source of the sound, and...]
...Jyn.
[Somehow. He hadn't expected this.]
no subject
She stands in the doorway still holding the knob.]
...Kaytu.
[To her surprise, she finds herself flashing a genuine simper.]
It's good to see you again.
no subject
[He says- easy and familiar. In a tone she wouldn't expect from him, probably.]
no subject
[Jyn steps in and closes the door behind her. The decor seems... softer than she's used to, but it'll do. She sets her suitcase on the ground and removes her jacket.]
I still don't understand this imPort... power... strange technology business, but I suppose I'll have to get used to it.
[Once she realizes what she's said, she adds:]
...Again, as I've been told.
no subject
... you mean you don't remember. You don't remember being here.
no subject
Before I arrived here, in this new world, the last thing I remember is having successfully sent the plans to the Rebellion. Cassian and I . . .
[Her heart sinks. Knowing she's missed Cassian by only a few days isn't easy to accept. She has so much she'd like to ask him, to talk to him about.]
. . . We were on a beach. The Death Star had just fired on Scarif, and we were about to die. That's the last thing I remember.
no subject
[Her memory is gone, of every moment here. He knew this was a possibility. Had heard of it happening to others before.
He's a little surprised he's... so affected by this. That it actually hurts- although he's certain it's nothing Jyn would do on purpose...]
You did die. We all did.
[Said bluntly, per usual.]
And then we were here. We had spoken many times. Enough times I could consider it something like a friendship.
[It was a friendship.]
But it doesn't matter now, does it?
B
She bursts into the kitchen and—
Oh.]
...you're back? [There's a strange teenager in your house, Jyn, and she's looking at you like she's seeing the ghost of someone she loved. What do?]
no subject
Oh. This must be her new roommate, and she seems surprised to see her.
...That's right. Jen was told she'd been living here before, though she doesn't have any memory of it. This could turn awkward real fast.]
Hello, um...
[What was her name again?]
Sorry, I don't believe we've been properly introduced. ...Well, formally at least, given the circumstances.
no subject
...I'm Veronica. [You pulled a knife on me the first time we met and I broke into the house. I told you about the Heathers, Kurt and Ram, JD. I missed you.] I, uh. I was assigned to live here, and you were already here by then. We were housemates—we still are, I haven't moved out.
no subject
She smiles weakly at her roommate. Despite their preceding familiarity, Veronica is still a stranger to Jyn at this point and their relationship will need to be rebuilt from the ground up.]
So I see. That's good.
[She hopes her efforts to stay optimistic are successful.
Remembering the repugnant smell, Jyn turns back to the toaster. It's still cooking in there. Probably not a good sign.]
no subject
Oh, god, okay, lemme handle this—
[What is wrong with the toaster? Whatever, Veronica knows the nuclear option for making it stop: she grabs the part of the wire near the plug and yanks, hard, ripping the plug right out of the wall outlet.]
How do you burn toast? [She's stunned, to say the least. Holy shit, is that like, a new superpower now? Being able to burn toast? What a shitty ability.]
((ooc: PFFFF, a shitty ability indeed!))
It's... I haven't...
[She gestures at the vile contraption as if everything is its fault.]
I don't know how to turn the burning down! I never had to cook anything back home! And when Mama did, it was always perfect! I always assumed technology involving food preparation had its settings set to "good!"
no subject
It's so stupid. It's so stupid a thing to be pissed off about that Veronica just chuckles a little, then starts laughing until she's broken into a fit of laughter that's hard enough that she has to grip onto the counter to steady herself, and maybe, just maybe her laughter turns a little bit hysterical as her knees hit the ground. Then it tapers off into a soft little sob, and, shit, this is just. This is just the worst first impression to make.
Okay, second worst.
God, must she give Jyn the worst first impression every time they meet for the first time? She reaches up, to rub the tears away from her eyes.]
Jesus, you're so bad at this. [She manages, however, a smile, a corner of her mouth turning upward despite her heart breaking inside.] Mom used to teach me how to cook, when I was younger. I could—I could pass on what she taught me to you.
C
Nice place, [ he grunts. He's thankfully covered up his wrestling uniform with the long red coat that Loma had bought for him before she'd been ported out, but he does set a wooden bear mask on the counter in front of him. He prefers not to keep it all squished up in his pack. ]
So is the gin here any good, or is the name just s'posed to be funny?
no subject
Yet.
She places another patron's cocktail glass in front of him and walks over to her new guest. ]
I'm not the person to ask. I don't find it amusing, but I've been told it's funny that it has my name in its title.
To answer your question, our gin is just like any other gin. Other people make it, we buy it and sell it.
no subject
Your name's Jyn, then? Or Jyn for short? [ Like, Jinnifer? That could be a name. Maybe. ]
no subject
[ Jyn goes to work on concocting his drink. Oh, is this where she's supposed to make pleasant conversation? While she works on drinks?
Well, she's bad at it. Why bother? ]
no subject
C
Hey! I was wondering where you've been.
no subject
Uhm... sorry, I have no memory of being in this world before, so I'm afraid I don't know who you are. We were friends before my departure and reappearance, I presume?
[Maybe she'll eventually get used to strangers approaching her and insisting they knew each other. At the moment, though, it's still a bit jarring. And embarrassing.]
no subject
He rubs the back of his neck and smiles sheepishly.]
Sort of, yeah. I had no idea you got ported out or I wouldn't... um... I was introducing you to new foods.
/slides on in with a
The footsteps down the hall next weren't of a dog, and Bodhi is muttering about not scaring away guests - Poe has probably had enough dog drool to last him a lifetime when Bodhi appears - ] Ace, get down --[ stops and freezes. ]
Jyn. You came back.
[ He makes like he wants to go forward, because he would've greeted her with a hug otherwise. ]
no subject
No, it's harmless. Like a loth-cat with lots of fur, only bigger. She lets out a quiet laugh as she gently pushes it off her and back on its four legs. ]
You're a feisty one, aren't you?
[ Before she can coo at it further, she looks up to eye the source of the footsteps. She takes in a sharp breath as she recognizes the face of a valued ally. ]
Bodhi.
[ She can't help but smile at him. It's good to see him again, but she's unsure how to approach him. How do you greet a person you've only known for 32 hours yet consider a dear friend? She doesn't want to overstep her boundaries, so she stands in place and pats this adorable creature on its head. ]
no subject
Bodhi continues to hang back a little, a small quirk of his own lips. ]
He recognizes you. From before. When you were here, I mean.
[ She probably already knows she was here before, or maybe she doesn't. Either way, surprise. ]
no subject
Unsure how to start up their conversation, Jyn keeps her focus on his pet and continues scratching behind his ears. ]
His name is Ace, I see. What is he? I haven't met an animal like this before.
no subject
There was a lot to catch her up on. But in the meantime... ]
Ace is a dog. Earth dog, which are much cuter than the ones of our own galaxy, with all that fur instead of scales.
no subject
He's beautiful. I assume he lives here with you?
[ With us? ]
no subject
He does - lives here with me. He was a picked up from the shelter.
[ Bodhi gestures behind him with a jerk of his head, as a way to beckon her in. ]
You want to come in proper, since I'm assuming you were assigned to live here, yeah?
