WARNINGS: tba
A. GENERAL CAFÉ PROMPT
[ :Re café is a small coffee shop lost in some dark corner of Nonah while opening at weird hours; it's full of trinkets here and there, with many many books, and a smell of coffee everywhere you go.
The trinkets are part of the shop's charm, in a way. A lot of clients leave items there, from butterfly collections to weird statues, and they are often very happy to have their trinket on display. Sometimes, though, Kaneki can be found switching the items, placing old ones in boxes, and overall just looking around trying to make sense of the decoration. Maybe you have new items to give, maybe you want to give a hand when tidying up the place, but if for whatever reason you approach Kaneki, you might hear him say to himself "We really need a garage sale."
Apart from the trinkets there are, of course, BOOKS. Many of them, spread all around the coffee shop. Even near the tables there are small baskets that people can go through to grab a book and read while they are drinking their coffee. Books are for trade (not all, some are Kaneki's private collection): leave a book and take one. Or just drop books you no longer want, that works too. And of course, if there is a book in particular you might be interested in, you might find it there, just ask someone - be careful though, Kaneki can ramble about books for hours.
The coffee shop itself doesn't have a set theme - urban museum book café theme, maybe? - but the food is specifically japanese. The shop specializes in Japanese food, specifically pastries and sweets, with some more common western sweets in the mix, all home-made and cooked by the owner during the morning/afternoon. While there isn't a huge variety of items to offer, the menu changes everyday, allowing the clients to try new things through the week. : re also offers a variety of hot, cold and iced drinks, heavily focusing on coffee, and they even have latte and foam art available. As for new additions, Veronica became the slushie master, so the shop has now a special menu for all of Veronica's slushies.
While the coffee shop isn't popular (it's usually quiet), sometimes there groups of people coming in, often imPort fans that want to take some pictures and try out imPort foods and often high school girls who are part of Kaneki's fangroup, the Kennibals, who want to update their website with thing things about their favorite hero; they are usually pretty girl, somewhat overbearing and loud. if they are too much, just let a waiter know - Justine or Veronica can easily handle these fangirls.
Finally, beware of your own words! While most won't mind it, if D33 catches you cursing, you better have some change for the swear-jar. No, it's not a joke. He will demand you to put some money there and will want you to learn not to be rude while at the coffee shop. Hopefully patrons won't be too angry about that, but if something trouble arises, both Kaneki and Andrew can handle it with ease (this IS an imPort café, and they all have super powers after all). ]
B. PRIVATE AREA PROMPT (cw: cannibalism, vampirism, blood, etc)
[ The shop isn't known only for its books, coffee and food: it's known because the owner provides unusual foods and special diets to IMPORTS ONLY. In other words, vampires, cannibals and alike can easily find a place to eat. Kaneki holds the right to ask any imPort for their file as proof that they require these special diets in order to survive/use their powers, since by law he can't provide it to those who don't need it; but worry not, he won't bite.
The door to this private area has an electronic lock and the combination is given to clients who need to use it; regulars can certainly go in without any fuss and either Kaneki or Justine will soon meet them there to take their order. if a new imPort wants to go in, just talk to one of the two and they will be granted the combination to go inside. Anyone else who just wants to be nosey? Well, good luck trying to get past the two; they aren't going to let you in so easily.
It doesn't mean they won't try. Even natives do. From time to time, there is always someone who tries to go in and force the door open in vain, or ask the staff if they can give them a cup of blood with a sidedish of human flesh. Some are just being assholes (after all, not everyone is so willing to accept what goes on here), other are very set on this and aren't joking at all. People can be really weird, after all.
As usual, both Kaneki and Andrew will handle any problematic clients with ease. ]
C. CLOSING TIME PROMPT
[ :Re café closes late at night, a decision made for those who can't walk under the sun or prefer to live during the night. The staff doesn't usually stay until those very late hours - neither Kaneki demands them to - and usually Kaneki and D33 are the ones leaving around 2:30am, after cleaning up and everything is set.
However, Kaneki always makes exceptions to familiar faces who want to come in right before they close. Or perhaps you already know that Kaneki takes back all the pastries and food he didn't sell that day - which means when kaneki is closing the coffee shop's door, he usually carries a box or two with food. Maybe if you are convincing enough (or just puppy eye him), he will give you some of those. Good luck trying that with D33, though.
Of course, if any of the staff stays until closing time, they can certainly take the pastries for themselves. ]

B! (open to everyone btw)
[With Krul gone (He's not sad about that. He isn't) he also can't really pinpoint why he has been annoyed with Kaneki in the first place. Just because he feels dangerous sometimes doesn't mean he'll poison the blood. That would be terrible for business.]
[Perhaps it's just old habit, after years of guarding his back from other white haired-red, eyed people. He picks up one of the stray books and a straw as he casually goes from the nice part of the cafe to the hidden one.]
The regular, please.

Mika-kun- it has been a while since I last saw you. How have you been? [ he reaches for a glass to pour blood there, and after he hands it to Mika ]
no subject
He folds his hands tightly as he waits. Mika wants to yank the glass towards him when it's full, impatient to soothe the ache that starts in his throat. Unfortunately for him, he is damn well not going to do something so undignified in front of Kaneki. Once it's clear it's his for the taking, he puts a straw in it and dares him to say anything.]
I'm fine. I take it business is going well?
(no subject)
Hope it's cool for another?
The private area isn't particularly high traffic, so Justine is keeping busy by wiping down the counter and general tidying up. She looks up, smiling, a little excited, a little nervous to meet the patrons. More people like her, kind of. ]
Um, sorry. My name's Justine, I'm new here. What's your regular?
Always!
[He doesn't make any sudden moves. If he's learned anything it's that size is no indicator or whether a person is strong or not. Just because Justine looks innocent doesn't mean she is. He keeps his voice down.]
[It is indeed nice to have legal guidelines rather than victims, but it doesn't make the guilt go away.]

[Abigail steps into the cafe. It's become a regular place for her to visit and the smell of coffee that greets her makes her smile. She glances at the menu, pondering which sweet to try with her coffee. When she does make her way to the counter, it's just in time to hear Kaneki's comment about the garage sale. She's not usually one for knick-knacks, but one little statue has caught her eye. A small kitten statue with wide eyes, that reminds her of her own little cat.]
If you do have a sale, I'd like dibs on that little guy.
[She tells Kaneki, pointing to the one she means.]
C. Closing time, Abigail and open to all
[Abigail's been sipping from a very nearly empty coffee cup for a while. She's putting off leaving until it is absolutely necessary. She knows that when she'll go home, it'll be to an empty bed and nightmares. There's something about the month of February, with Valentine's day and all the talk of love, that makes her think of her father and Hannibal and the ways they showed their love for her. It's enough to make her want to stay awake as long as she can, especially in a place where she feels safe. She glances up when someone approaches her table.]
Are you waiting for me to go? Sorry. I didn't mean to bother anyone.
a
Do you want it? You can take it now- [ they have so many trinkets already and if he doesn't sell them, he'd donate them - so there is no harm giving Abigail a small gift if she wants. ]

[D33 spends a great deal of time at the Café, even on days where he isn't (supposed to be) working. Typically, one can find him behind the counter, cold and unapproachable-looking as ever, just waiting to take your order and make your day better(?). Of course, he is always looking to enforce his swear jar, as well - if he hears any foul language coming from your direction, you can bet that he'll be rushing over to shove that thing in your face. Aside from that, you might find him curled up in one of the corner booths on his break or his off day, nursing a mug of anything-but-coffee and reading a book, watching a movie (totally
notThe Little Mermaid) on his communicator, or spacing out making goo-goo eyes at the Café's owner while he goes about his own work (he's a man in love - please call him out on it).]no subject
Speaking of, she makes her way over to D33 now to be in his company. What seems to be a rare moment where they both are in the Café and her friend is not trapped behind the service counter.
But he's not quite there, she sees, His eyes lidded, gazing out onto the floor where his partner is busy at work tending other guests.
She stands there for a moment, just a moment, waiting to see if he will react to her presence. When he doesn't, she drops the book on the table in front of them. Just to see what might happen.]
That is quite a look. [She says this in a flat voice, but that smile curling her lips is giving her away as she slides into the booth beside him. As opposed to across like any other decent person. But K31 has special rights.]

If you're an imPort with access to the private area, you can find Justine there, too. The number of choices is a little overwhelming to her still, as someone who used to just settle for biting dudes' lips off at parties, but she's getting used to it. Just don't ask her to cook any of it for you, she won't know where to start. Raw is the way to go.
If she's not with a customer, she's probably cleaning, or maybe chatting with her coworkers? If you catch Justine on her break, she's probably dinking around on her communicator at the corner booth, feel free to chat her up! ]

[Not that D33 considers Justine a monster just because she deals with what goes on behind those doors, of course. After all, he's with Kaneki. But he is interested in finding out more about her. So, one evening after most of the Café's patrons have cleared out, he approaches her with a relatively innocuous:]

OTA !
[After arriving in this world, and moving to Nonah, K31 is a regular visitor of the Café. Keeping to herself most of the time as her roommates tend to guests. You can find her seated comfortably in a sweater next to a window, drinking hot chocolate (D33 wont allow for coffee) and reading. Always reading. A pile of books stacked oddly on the table around her.
She does not at all mind company, if you are interested in taking her time. In fact, she'd welcome it! The more friends the better! While she is not with D33 or speaking to Kaneki, she spends a relative amount of time alone. She is taking up a bit of space in a booth, after all. And hogging all of the good books, maybe!]
For Kaneki!
[It had been a good amount of time since K31 had entered this world. And not long after that she found herself reunited with D33. But on top of that, living in the same home as one Kaneki Ken. Now announced to her as her dear friend's romantic partner. She had been welcomed into their space, and into their workplace with little fuss. Allowing her to spend her days there when she had had little else to do.
And while she was fine with this, a part of her did feel...a tad guilty.]
[K31 approaches Kaneki in the Cafe, waiting patiently as he finishes with another guest before clearing her throat. Hoping to catch his attention.]
Pardon me. [She smiles at him, almost apologetically.] Is there any way I could be of any use to you?
Anything goes, too. Just hit a girl up.

[Alison had been meaning to stop by the cafe since her conversation with Kaneki, but a few things kept her from succeeding. First was the fact that she hadn't properly researched opening hours, and the few times she had planned to stop in to say hello had resulted in her staring blankly at a closed coffee shop. From there, getting her business up-and-running again and certain familial obligations had kept her busy enough that this was her first successful visit to :RE Café.
Alison breathes a small sigh of relief when she finally steps into the shop and takes a few minutes to admire the trinket display and book collection. After a while, she proceeds to scrutinize the menu while keeping a lookout for Kaneki.]
