WHO: Ned Stark
WHERE: De Chima - in town and at the farmhouse
WHEN: Jan. 23
WHAT: Just Nedding about
WARNINGS: None, at the moment, but standard Game of Thrones disclaimer
I. But First, Coffee
It's a beautiful day. Not, perhaps, by anyone else's standards - it's overcast and cool and some of those clouds seem to bear the threat of rain. But that's how he prefers it. It makes this strange place feel just a little more like home.
He's left work early, after spending much of the morning at his desk, staring out the window. Some days he doesn't mind being in the office. It's fascinating, at times, and he's learned a great deal there. But sometimes his patience with the whole thing grows thin. Today is one of those days.
He feels better already, being out in the open air. He's headed home to enjoy the rest of this lovely day. After he pops into the coffee shop to pick up one of those marvelous drinks the folks in the office have introduced him to - something called a "latte." He picks up a lemon cake for Cat, as well. It's sold by the slice, and though the girl gives him a funny look when he asks, he buys a whole cake's worth of them.
Should you be in this shop or on the street, you might find yourself having a rare encounter with a cheerful Ned Stark. He's smiling. This place takes as well as it gives - he misses the girls terribly still - but he is grateful for every day he has with those who remain, and for the relative peace here. His head seems likely to remain securely on his shoulders here, and that is certainly something to be grateful for.
II. No Way This is Gonna Last
Once home, he changes out of his office-mandated suit and into the jeans and t-shirt that have become his standard attire here and situates himself on the porch with the rest of his latte and half a slice of Cat's lemon cake.
On a whim, he summons a pair of his wolves to sit with him, and though they are not corporeal beings and he cannot scratch them behind the ears, as such, they are still good company. And so, there he sits, content, peaceful, half waiting for something or someone to come along and ruin everything.
III. Wildcard
If there's something else you'd like to do with Ned, feel free!

2 b or not 2 be.... adopting more strays
So she simply stands there quietly. He will notice her.
Eventually.
Re: 2 b or not 2 be.... adopting more strays
"There you are," he says. "I was wondering where you'd gone."
He pats the empty spot beside him on the steps. "I brought you something."
Re: 2 b or not 2 be.... adopting more strays
She sits beside him, smoothing her skirts as she does so. "Then we have something in common. I discovered something on my ride, that needed to be brought home as well. What have you brought for me?"
they need to stop being cute omfgno subject
He raises an eyebrow, intrigued by her remark. "I can hardly wait to see what it is," he says. He can scarcely imagine. But first...
He reaches back to pick up the bag containing her cakes and hands it to her, all but beaming.
He's definitely gettin' some tonight.no subject
omg u there are children around here somewhere....there are always children around here somewhere! She is about to warn him that he might not be so happy with what she has brought; after all, a traumatized Theon is not exactly a gift...but she is distracted by both the bag itself and the mystery of what it could hold. She pauses to grin at him, and then her impatience gets the better of her. When she unwraps the cake, she's reverted...more years than she'd care to count, and she could be a girl again. "Lemon cakes!! Wherever did you find them?"
And yes, she's already taking a bite of that slice. Who cares about being a good adult right now?

"A coffee shop near the office," he says. "They sell them by the slice. You should have seen the shopkeeper's face when I told her I wanted the whole cake."
no subject
"Are you certain you should be buying entire lemon cakes in one go?" she can't help but tease a little.

He raises an eyebrow and shrugs. "I can't think of any reason I shouldn't..."
