Too lit to Politic

WHO: The City Ambassadors and the Senator
WHERE: Washington DC, the Senator's office
WHEN: Friday
WHAT: Talking important things
WARNINGS: Will edit if needed

[ It's mid-afternoon. Sun's streaming in the conference room, and there's a crudite platter and a three actual jugs of coffee from the local shop. If there's one thing the senator doesn't skimp on, it's the coffee.

The staff is eerily absent, but not displeased to have the rest of the afternoon off. This was more importasnt than having staff, after the information they'd been given, the ambassadors and the senator. The free courier up to DC is nice, but that's just a bribe to get them all together. Mitch is there, with another paper cup of coffee, sippIng and looking over a stack of papers when everyone gathers. It's with a rueful grin that the meeting starts.
]

So, folks. What are we going to do?

[ I figure this can be freestyle! Tag as much or as little as you all want! ]

[ Baelish sits back against the seat, glancing over a small notebook he had taken from his breast pocket. ]

I can say that I do not feel comfortable being the one to disclose this information. I am primitive compared to the rest of you with my knowledge of technology and satellites. However, I do plan on making a network post over this upcoming weekend to gather interest in the Maurtia Falls Ambassadorial elections. And I can touch on the topic of registration there.

It is. But with the urgency our officials have encouraged...it may be wise to get the idea of registration out there quickly. Especially with the porter's recent activity. It sounded as though they were getting ready to act very soon. Which means we should also get this message out very soon.

[ Petyr gives a brief glance to the others and then back to Mitch with a smile. ]

It will be good to be present as a single unit. That being said, I would say you, Senator Hundred, would be best suited to do the majority of the speaking. Unless we want to break this down by points and each take one.

[Sam's never been in DC before, let alone in the office of a senator. He's trying to look like he belongs here, and not let on how intimidating it is to be sitting around the same table as these men.]

I like that idea, [he finally chimes in, nodding towards Mitch.] All of us appearin' together. It hasn't happened before. Just the novelty of that might help keep people's attention.

I also think Ambassador Baelish has the right of it - if any of us is gonna be the spokesperson, it should be the Senator. None of us carry the same weight with people. If Senator Hundred gives the main address, the rest of us can answer questions and concerns - handle the back 'n forth.

[ Miles is a little more used to being in official government settings, at least, even if this specific situation is new to him; he regards the surroundings with a professional sort of curiosity. Ah, democracy. What an interesting and quaint form of government. ]

I quite agree on having a unified front. And we should incorporate the new Maurtia Falls ambassador, whomever that should be.

[ After Miles' suggestion, Baelish gives a glance to the others before he shakes his head. ]

I disagree. Not only will the new ambassador have a lot on their plate, but they have yet to establish trust within our government. This information was given to us out of a trust that we will do what is right with it. It would not be the right decision to disclose it without their express permission. Particularly the final part...

[ A beat. ]

Which I hope we are all on the same page about keeping classified until further notice.

[ Miles raises an eyebrow in turn. ]

I agree on not disclosing the information, but - surely we could still involve them without telling them just yet?

[Sam rubs at his mouth some, listening and mulling over the central argument. Finally he shakes his head.]

I'm with Ambassador Baelish, for the same reasons he mentioned. I also don't feel comfortable pullin' the new Ambassador in blind, especially when they're gonna have enough to do in these first few weeks just learnin' the job and getting a handle on things. Now, I do think we can reach out to them after we make our appearance, ask 'em to start encouraging Registration in their city, but I think we wait for after.

As for keepin' the Korea thing classified, you've got no argument from me, [Sam confirms, nodding and leaning forward.] Last thing I want to do is cause a panic or spur some vigilante into runnin' off and gettin' involved. We've got people who'd be of a mind to go try and "solve" this on their own, and that's a disaster we can't risk.
