[They were past due for this, for a number of reasons. One of the difficult parts of having a relationship with two other people was figuring out how it was supposed to go. He's looked it up, read the how-to be in a polyamorous relationship posts but the tips, guidelines and directions never felt quite right. Though, the generalized advice he'd found of - don't coerce your relationships into a predefined shape; let them be what they are - was something he didn't mind as much.
Eventually he stumbled across an article that helped him, if only that it gave him something to think about. Don't keep a tally. Don't compare one dynamic to another. Don't treat each of your partners as if they're the same person. That all made sense. Yuri and Yusuke weren't the same, they wouldn't need the same things from Otabek and wouldn't want in the same way.
He understood that there were a lot of things he didn't know how they should go, many events leading him to that realization. Which meant they needed to talk about it. They had to discuss dates, hanging out, kissing, sex, what they wanted and what they didn't want. All of it was very grown up and responsible, which he's never had a problem with before, but now that so many people's hearts were on the line, it made him more cautious. Texts were sent. Everyone came to Otabek's this time. They were all sprawled out in his room, Beka sitting on the floor propped up against the wall with his legs folded under him.]
I think we should talk about our relationship.
[Otabek could get this started.]
It's been a while since we agreed to start this and it's fair to say that things aren't the same as they were then.

Yusuke.
[There's a hint of exasperation in his voice but he's amused, mouth curved up in a gentle slope.]
I'd like to suggest an extension of that rule, Yuri. Every time Yusuke says something like this he isn't allowed to kiss either of us for a day.
no subject
He snatches the pillow and stuffs it underneath him, leaning back against the wall. ]
That is a terrible rule. The 'No Admiration' clause has to go. The rest is fine. [ Beat. ] Are we drawing the line at penetration, or should we attempt to keep our clothes on altogether?
[ These boys have made a monster out of him... ]
no subject
Are you just looking for loopholes to get us off?
no subject
That depends on how you behave, Yusuke. [He raises an eyebrow.] But I suppose we can't blame him Yura. It is our fault that he does this.
[He'd let one of the others pick up the more serious side of the conversation again.]
no subject
[ It's Yuri's turn to get smacked with the pillow. He isn't joking, he's trying to be precise! ]
I think we can all agree that it is easy to get carried away. Which is your fault, of course, but regardless, it would be helpful to establish specific boundaries.
no subject
That makes sense... If it's going to be a rule, then we should probably keep our clothes on. There'll be less temptation to get carried away with that way.
no subject
Then it's a rule for now. We can revisit it whenever someone feels it's time to do so.
[Their feelings and desires would change, so they would change the rules to suit.]
I suppose the more important question is if everyone is happy with how things are going?
no subject
I think that is fair. Now that we have that established, I can't say I have anything pressing to address. I am confident in my feelings, and quite happy with them.
[ Is that a pointed stare at Yuri? No, of course not. ]
no subject
Well, I... I mean, I'm happy with everything, but this whole thing...when it started, I was supposed to choose between you, but things have obviously changed a lot now, so... What do you guys expect from me now?
[He glances back at them; first Otabek, and then Yusuke.] I think I know the answer already, but I want to hear it.
no subject
I don't think expect is the right word, Yura.
[Otabek leans forward, folds and tucks his legs underneath himself.]
You know how I feel. How he feels. When you're ready, you'll tell us how you feel. [There's a short pause.] I do want to know if this is working for all three of us. You were supposed to choose between us and then we decided to see if this could happen. It will only work if we're all in it together.
no subject
[ And as such, he tries to tread lightly, but that isn't something he's particularly good at. He's been assuming that this particular problem would blow over, surely, nobody could take that long to figure out how they feel about anything. Yuri...is an outlier. ]
I told you that I love you long before I developed those same feelings for Otabek. I would like to know if we are all on the same wavelength, and not knowing makes me feel...vulnerable. I feel like I do know, but it is important to me that you do, too.
no subject
...But he still felt guilty, of course. ]
I know... I know it's important. I'm sorry it's taking me so long.

On the precipice of something, hanging on by a thread and waiting. He didn't want to rush Yuri, but it was hard to move forward as a unit, all three of them, when they didn't know if everyone was standing as equals. Some took more time than others to develop feelings and some never did. He felt that Yuri wasn't really either of those, more that he was working his way through his emotions, but it was good that they were all saying this now anyway.]
You're part of our puzzle, Yuri. We do need to know how those pieces fit together.
[He pushes up and stands, crossing the room to the bed. Beka climbs up and tosses a leg over Yuri, dips down and kisses the tip of his nose.]
Just talk to us, yes? If you need time, that's all you have to say.
[He rolls over and shifts down to lay at Yuri's side, cheek on his stomach.]
